NOTICE OF CLASS-ACTION SETTLEMENT.

THIS NOTICE MAY AFFECT YOUR RIGHTS. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY.

A settlement has been reached in a class action in which the plaintiffs allege, among other things, that PayPal improperly handled disputed transactions on PayPal accounts and improperly placed holds and reserves on accounts or closed or suspended accounts. Plaintiffs also allege that PayPal failed to provide annual error-resolution notices and monthly account statements under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.

You are a member of the Settlement Class if you had an active PayPal account between April 19, 2006 and Nov. 5, 2015. Certain Settlement Class Members who had a hold or reserve placed on their account and/or who had their account closed or suspended by PayPal are eligible to receive a monetary payment upon submission of a valid claim form.

This notice summarizes the proposed settlement. For the precise terms and conditions of the settlement, please see the Settlement Agreement available at http://www.accountholdsettlement.com/ or by visiting the office of the Clerk of the Court for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, 1301 Clay Street, Oakland, CA 94612, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Court holidays.

PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE THE COURT OR THE COURT CLERK'S OFFICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS SETTLEMENT OR THE CLAIM PROCESS.

PayPal being so quickly split off from eBay suddenly makes sense. They knew this was coming and wanted to minimize any damage to eBay's quarterly and annual reports.

I'll need to check what all is included since I spent most of 2003 through 2006 as a Power Seller and ate plenty of PayPal fees.

Nothing for me either.

But when I saw the thread I thought maybe someone had found away to nail PP to the wall for the stunt they pulled three or four years ago when they said they would no longer allow incest and some other material to be sold through PP and said this was because of Visa and they even had a letter from visa.

In panic a lot of small sites shut down completely and many authors yanked all their material not fitting the new guidelines before the deadline losing a lot of money in sales.

When Coker from SW went to meet them in person they could not provide said proof of Visa's involvement-which should have had nothing to do with PP anyway-and ended up backing off, at least on SW where incest and other extreme kink stuff is carried

also it was posted on several blogs that some internet reporter had gotten hold of Visa on the matter and they denied knowing anything about it said they really don't care what people spend their money on.

A lot of people never bounced back from that and its too bad PP can't be held liable.

I remember SW sending out the e-mail for the deadline to remove our 'violating' material and I left mine there with the attitude of I would make them pull it themselves.

A lot of people did yank their books and for some reason well before the deadline. I made a killing that month with fear of loss readers.

PP and their owner E-bay are as unethical as their nemesis amazon. Amazon is one of the very few large businesses that won't take paypal.

Never liked PayPal. Though class actions are a ridiculous waste of resources when the affront is small. You don't like them putting a hold on your account in disputes, take your business elsewhere. Quasi-banks are sloppy at best.

Who does this really apply to here? It's on the fees charged, it concerns holds, reserves, closings, and suspensions placed on accounts. That hasn't happened to me at PayPal. Has it happened to anyone else here? I don't mind the fees, considering I can work through cutouts and wouldn't be able to take any money for my production otherwise.

I was part of a class action lawsuit against Citizens bank, we were one of many they hit with ridiculous over draft charges on things that weren't even over drafts.

They took money out of our account claiming they were for those fees. So we closed all our accounts and went elsewhere.

A few years later I get notified we're part of the suit then after that I received a check for....$21.76:rolleyes:

Same with Bank of America...only I got $300 in that one.

Their scheme was to post the larger checks first to run up a overdraft then post the smaller checks getting the overdraft fee for each one...instead of posting the smaller checks and then the large one and only getting one overdraft fee.

Well, that was the eye rolling thing about my 'settlement'.

They did as you said, posted a couple of large checks and what happened was the wife and I had some miscommunication and both transferred money from one account to another that day which is what left the balance low.

And as you said rather than post the half dozen small purchases she made on amazon that totaled less than $100 they posted the big one(mad after the others time wise) so they could hit us with six separate fees. Then they just took the money from another account.

What we should have received was more in the $200 range.

Whatever, it was a good end result because we're much happier with where we are now because as my wife mentioned to the person she spoke to, shouldn't they have questioned the second transfer of x-amount? Shouldn't they have stopped an said, "Do you realize there was already a transaction made in that amount?"

So they sucked anyway.

Likely there are Literotica people involved in the class action lawsuit. If you only get $21.76, it's better than nothing.

amazon style ethics aside, Paypal is a solid organization. I've been using them since 2000 for e-bay and still use them for that as well as writing.

I've never had an issue with security and on E-bay when I paid people and they never sent me merchandise paypal always reimbursed me very quickly.
