Has anybody heard anything about paying for MSN?. A friend has im'd me and said he heard that MSN might be charging for Hotmail .....Has anybody heard anything please ?

MSN is offering additional storage space for a fee. That's all I've seen.

In my opinion...

Hotmail has really gone to shit. Their servers are frustratingly slow and I dislike the layout tremendously. Was much better in the past.

Yes... they are offering additional storage space for an extra charge.

I think it would be a huge mistake for them to start charging for basic service. There are so many free internet mail services out there that I think most people would just switch to another service rather then pay.

Ok, Thank you for your replies, I IM'd my friend and he thought they meant the Messenger part of MSN , not just additional storage space .........that is good news, because if they did , it means that other "chat" messegners would follow suit .......and that is not good news.........

Actually, it's free if you use it.

It's $9.95 a month to keep Bill Gates away......

Yes, Amused , I do use it and several other chat messengers, but we were under the impression we were going to have to pay for it ......but luckily we were mistaken .....

Hell, I don't use it now, and it's free. No way in hell I would pay for it.

It's kinda like sex, why pay for shitty service when you can wait a bit longer for the real deal, and not pay?

who would want to pay to use MSN Messenger? It's BIG piece of crap, not that yahoo's new version isn't, but I do feel better using Yahoo, than MSN. It's wouldn't surprise me that they would TRY to charge, but I seriously doubt that Yahoo or anyone else in their right mind would chrage too, just because MS would.

Yahoo was built on the idea of the internet being free to users, advertisers are a different story. AOHELL, I've NEVER had any desire to have their service so I don't know much about them, other than the few times I used it before I got my web access 6 years ago. And at best I'd say it was at least then, more for beginners, end even now, is more for those who can't get any other service in their area.
