Paul Ryan has run many marathons, and his personal best time is a very impressive "high twos"--meaning, sub-three hours. Here he is talking about it a couple of weeks ago with a radio host named Hugh Hewitt:

HH: Are you still running?

PR: Yeah, I hurt a disc in my back, so I don’t run marathons anymore. I just run ten miles or yes.

HH: But you did run marathons at some point?

PR: Yeah, but I can’t do it anymore, because my back is just not that great.

HH: I’ve just gotta ask, what’s your personal best?

PR: Under three, high twos. I had a two hour and fifty-something.

Impressive, right?

Also a lie.

From Runner's World:

It turns out Paul Ryan has not run a marathon in less than three hours—or even less than four hours.

A spokesman confirmed late Friday that the Republican vice presidential candidate has run one marathon. That was the 1990 Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota, where Ryan, then 20, is listed as having finished in 4 hours, 1 minute, and 25 seconds.

Whoopsie, the poor sap. And it had to be called the "Grandma's Marathon," of all things.

Hmm. Where YOU are running to? Just let me know so I can plan.

If you can't trust a man on his marathon-running prowess, you can't trust him to fix a broken economy.

I think the press should start referring to him as "Paul Ryan - Fastest Man in The World."

I also think that's how his name should appear on the ballot.

Some random runner saw the interview transcript and said to himself, "That's weird, every runner I know knows his personal best down to the minute and second." So he posted on a runner's board just to find out which race Ryan had run the sub-three-hour time in. The other members of the board turned up the answer: none.

Here's that part of the story: http://www.letsrun.com/2012/bill-walker-0912.php

Wasn't Chris Christie's GOP speech about telling the truth? :D

I don't run like I used to but when I did run a lot I never knew my times. I only ran one marathon though so it's not like I was trying to improve or anything. All my 5 and 10K's and half marathons were just about finishing and not winning so time didn't matter.
Doesn't mean much here cuz the guy obviously lied. Just sayin'.
