Paul McCartney's Ego

I remember the first Beatles 45 I saw and heard, "Love Me Do". We grabbed it from my friend's big sister's room while she was out with her boyfriend on a Honda. We played it on his front porch; we were 5 year olds. The Capitol orange and black swirls going 'round.

A few years later, the arguments over whether Hey Jude or Revolution was a better song when both were Top Ten Singles; I guess I was 9.

The Beatles or the Stones; the Stones or The Beatles.

Who?

Hey Dixon..it was the Rutles.

Hey Jude is a McCartney tune; Revolution a Lennon number.

But we already knew that.

I think it's safe to say he's only stupid about those things which he's not educated about.
Those Sally Struthers mail-in correspondence education courses work wonders, you know.

Could you elaborate on this for me?

I'm not sure if I totally understand how it all works out myself to be honest. It has somthing to do with John being dead and copyrights being up for renewal and the control of the song catalog. It's convoluted mess that would take a laywer or somebody siimilarly educated in bullshit to translate. The long and short of it is that Yoko representing the Lennon Estate has a bigger chunk of Yesterday than Paul. Besides, most of this is very old news amongst hardcore Beatle fans. Sorry if I'm not more help. Most of this would have been avoided if John hadn't screwed the deal to get control of the songs back in the 60's

Holy jeez, man.

There's only like 4,157 topics with 37,649 replies.

I found it right away!

:D

Looks like a fun little site, I posted on a Beatles board for a while. There's some wacky people out there. They make trekkies seem quite reasonable, some of these Beatlepeople.

Let me tell you never ever mess with a Beatle fan on a board. As people who are full of general musical knowledge as well as technical instrumental skill and are full of info about THAT band they will (this is no joke believe me) hunt you down and cut off your nuts if you piss with them. I've seen it there before. They chased off the CEO of Rickenbacker as well as Roger Mcguinn and a few others. I'm just warning you going in.

Here's the topics to stay away from: ANYTHING TELLING THEM THEY ARE LOSERS AND WASTEING THEIR TIME.

Be nice to them and they'll be very very cool with you. Happy posting.:)

Nope, ain't going there.

Been there, done that.

Happy, Shiney, Pepperland where dedicated fans sit all day and list their favorite Beatle songs, and have in-depth discussions with members named "ilovegeorge" about if John hadn't died, would he be playing at this year's Super Bowl with Elvis and Hot Tuna.

Thanks for the tip.

Besides, there are no buttfucking threads, and ass avatars like sunstruck's...

I'm not so sure about that, Mick is quite comfortable sharing the spotlight with whomever it is making noise.

I can't imagine Paul ever inviting anyone famous to play, except David Gilmour, but nobody recognized him anyway...

You're right on the duets, but I suggest it takes a massive ego to release the string of crap that is loosely referred to as Mick's solo albums.

Off stage, I don't think there's any question about which of the two puts himself in more situations to further his public image.

And if you measure the vanity of a male star by the number of lithe young women squired...no contest.

In terms of business ability, I'd say Mick has done a better job holding and managing his band's catalog than Paul; Mick has basically run the Stones since 1970 with Prince Rupert Von Lowenstein...though Bowie has cleaned both their clocks with his lease deal over his old catalog.

Definitely going with Paul on this one, he's quite the opportunist. He even joined the War on Terrorism for a bit.

As far as businessmen go, Bowie is quite shrewd. Did you know he pays his band members scale? He had Stevie Ray Vaughan working for him for peanuts.

All that Beatle merchandise, Wigs, lunchboxes, notebooks, dolls and shit? The Beatles never received a dime, literally billions of dollars went to Epstein's loverboys. The Beatles didn't know, they were stuck in a hotel room smoking dope with Bob Dylan...

You'd be surprised at how few threads there are like that. That particular board is made up of a lot of musicians and vendors. So, what often gets dissected is the equipment and the sounds and how those sounds were achieved. As far as David Gilmore is concerned, Paul should have used Brian Setzer or Jeff Beck for his Run Devil Run album (which was pretty good I'd say). Those two players have a better feel for the material presented that Gilmore. It's good place to go if you're musician (like me).

I'll agree there's not an av around that is quite like sunstruck's.

I've checked out that site more thoroughly, and it is a pretty cool board, Cobra.

THERE ARE RICKENBACKER DISCUSSIONS!

Thanks.

And if you don't see me again for a while, you'll know why...
