The problem is social media. It allows those who can barely figure out how to cook Ramen noodles without burning to voice their thoughts and have others believe them.

These people have no clue what true patriotism is. Nor do they, or their followers, care.

Many seem to think that true patriotism is hatred for your country and attempting to turn it into the exact opposite of everything it's ever been or hoped to be.

And not a one of them will deny it, because they know the next question is "So why are you cheerleading socialism, trashing civil rights and identitarianism. " for which they had NO answer.

The 1 thing patriotism is not, is lockstep adherence. My idea of what "liberty" means isn't necessarily the exact same thing as what another may believe it means. However, there is a common thing that all patriots have, it's the understanding that when it comes time to stand up and show up, they get to their feet and muster.

Because they do, and will not accommodate Americans who don't. As Americans, When it comes to Socialists and Socialism, we should understand both it and them to be the epitome of universal evil. They have murdered tens of millions of people, taken their property, their everything. If we value our freedom we shouldn't give an inch of slack to any socialist extolling its virtues and pretending it and they aren't evil. They are the antithesis of all things American. The time for playing nice with these enemies to our way of life is over. They need to be roundly ridiculed and defeated.

Talking to numbers of them here, they don't see anything more American than the hammer and sickle. Just as Rob, it's totally patriotic and there is nothing more American than an iron fisted government taking everyones shit. As long as the goal is social/economic equity (equal outcomes for all) the ends justify any means necessary.

There is no such thing as too far left for any of them.

Because people on the outside have this idea that patriotism is someone wearing the American Flag as pajamas, as they walk into Walmart, to purchase their gun, while sporting a MEGA hat. A Patriot. :D

Personally, I like the Tom Brady Patriot...but that is a different story.
 
Worse, is when the attempt to redefine patriotism as championing a version of America that is antithetical to the constitution as written and amended without proposing that it be amended to reflect their desires.

These are the people that refer to the Constitution as a living, breathing document written by old man who couldn't see our day without noticing that there are two different methods to change the document to reflect what they want America to be.

They don't pledge allegiance to the Republic for which the flag stands, they pledge allegiance to their own ideological aims as if that's the same thing.

These are the same people who point to their strength in numbers as if it means anything in a Republic founded specifically to keep people like them from overwhelming our nation of laws with popular support of lawlessness.

American patriotism is inherent understanding, reverence and loyalty to the revolutionary political ideology which founded America, as delcared, not as any one wishes to compose it themselves.

This revolutionary political ideology consists of three uncompromising roots:

1. acknowledgement and reverence for "nature's laws and of nature's God"

2. inherent love for inalienable individual liberty

3. desire for government that's constituted first to guarantee and protect #1 and #2, and if it doesn't, it's abolished

Many are called but few are chosen applies to wannabe American patriots, too. Many dig #3, and a lot can eventually acknowledge the "nature's laws" part, but most disqualify themselves because they refuse to acknowledge, let alone revere, "nature's God". Not obeying #1 as immutable code logically invalidates #2's existence, too, for "inalienable", as declared, means naturally created and established by a Higher Power over any man's feeling or government's rule.

Thus, instead of inherently grokking the natural, inalienable superiority of actual American patriot political ideology, wannabe's are simply left with perpetually debating and arguing with others who basically share their same root disbelief, ensuring a endless loop of irrelevantness about one's feelings vs. others' feelings.

But if the left just stopped regarding the country with such distain and disgust, and demonizing any sort of love for it and any support for it's existence as a nation as NATIONALISM!!! as if that's a bad thing.

No longer supporting radically authoritarian political positions/ideals and ideologies that are antithetical to the ones the USA was founded/built upon, like individual rights, including private property, the pursuit of happiness etc. is more advanced but also a good thing to try.

Even that, they get wrong. They misconstrue "We, the people" to mean that collectivism has any place in our constitutional republic. That, if they can garner enough support for their collective group, they can get what they feel.entitled to.

I'm fairly certain that Barack Hussein Obama did not himself pen these words,* but he was entirely correct when he opined that,

The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can't do to you. Says what the federal government can't do to you but doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.

That was not an accident; rather, it was by design.

*He was hired as an "historic" guest lecturer on Constitutional Law. What the job consisted of was reading the lecture notes of an actual ConLaw professor from a teleprompter to the class. Turned out to be great career training. The teleprompter that is, not the words displayed for him.
