Hi all,

I know delays can happen, and I fully respect the workload moderators deal with — but until recently, my stories were typically published within 2–5 days. Over the last three weeks, however, I haven’t had a single upload approved, despite multiple lengthy attempts.

One story sat in pending for over a week, so I assumed there might’ve been a file issue and re-submitted. It’s now been an additional 10 days, and still nothing. Another story eventually fell back into my drafts folder after over a week — but without appearing in the “sent back” folder or offering any explanation, which left me a little confused. I’ve tried reaching out for clarification but haven’t had a reply so far.

For context: a friend of mine who publishes in the same category (Interracial) uploaded a story three days after mine, and his was published within three days. Mine, submitted earlier, is still waiting. So if there’s a backlog, it doesn’t appear to be following the usual first-in, first-out process outlined in the FAQ.

The only thing I’ve changed recently is updating my author profile to include reference to the content and a link to my Patreon page (not mentioned in the stories themselves). I’m wondering if that addition may have unintentionally flagged my account or submissions somehow? I’m not trying to violate any guidelines — just hoping to understand if that could be affecting the review process.

So… interracial pun very much intended: am I being Black Balled? 😅

Thanks in advance for any guidance or clarity you can offer.

IMO just wait. I just had a story sitting in Pending for almost 2 weeks. Still did fine.

One thing to be aware of is that re-submitting will result in your story being shunted to the end of the queue again, so the additional ten days is probably at least partly due to that action. The story that got returned to drafts is probably the result of a bug or error. I would DM Laurel here in the forum and briefly explain the situation, referencing the story by title, date submitted, and date returned to draft. She probably won't respond, but if it was supposed to be scheduled and the wrong box got ticked or something, it will probably be quietly corrected.
In general, I don't think the site follows FIFO with submissions anymore, or not when it comes to publishing them anyway. The volume of submissions is much greater than in the past, so Laurel probably handles it by giving stuff a first pass in FIFO order, likely with the help of scripts to detect potential problems. Anything that comes back clear on that gets fast-tracked, then there's a slow slog through the ones that require closer attention.* That's not me speaking from actual knowledge, to be clear, it's just how I'd try to handle the work if I had to do it.

*Some categories probably require more scrutiny than others. NC/R is one, since it has special rules. I/R might be another, given that the subject matter might serve as camouflage for various types of political screeds, hate speech, and the like, which they would probably rather not host. I've not posted anything in that category, so I'll defer to others on whether or not it seems to take longer than EC or ROM or what-have-you.

I was wondering about my most recent submission, which was just moved to published status in its second day. My first non-event one to go past twelve hours in a while.

I am playing with minimal description of the characters, as discussed in a recent thread. The story is fantasy and the MC's love interest is described as a "maiden" referring back to the fairy tale trope. With no other age guidance, I was afraid it was being bounced for underage. I think of her as mid-20's, but I left it pretty open. Laurel may have put it an stack to reread before approving it for that reason.

Moral of the story is trust in the system. Laurel usually gets it right sooner or later.

Update: I uploaded a new story, same category etc and just over 24 hours after upload I have a publish date set for tomorrow :nana:

But my other one is still sending left in pending on day 11. I think there definitely has to be an issue with the upload, so I am just going to remove it completely and try from the start in a few days time. At least with the other one being published I do have peace of mind that It's not an issue with my profile/patreon stuff. Thanks all for the replies and private messages

Silly question but how and where do you get a notice that your story will be published?

The first clue I get is usually on your my works/my stories pending pageScreenshot 2025-07-10 at 12.37.21.png

The Pending part under the story title changes to 'NEW' and the date above that changes to the date when it will be published and be live on the site.

Also, when it comes to the time that it actually does get published and is live, it will appear on your latest activities updates like this:

I've never received any email notifications for these. I just check in on the site each day and see if the status has changed.

You get a notice on Your Control Panel when it's published. Before then, go into Works and you can check status - Pending or New. Don't accidentally pull it back to Draft, because you'll start all over again. If it's still Pending, DON'T TOUCH IT.

If it shows as New, and you click on it, you'll see a date - that's when it will go live.

You're definitely not being black balled and you haven't done anything wrong.

Basically, the website is under enormous pressure due to a huge increase in the volume of submissions. The old process of waiting 2-3 days for your story to be published only happens during quieter periods now. Unfortunately, there are lots of poor quality submissions being produced using AI tools and those new software packages, marketed as writing aids.

To make matters worse, there are a lot of shorts in the publishing queue for things like 750 words. Most of which are throwaway entries but still take up space in the queue. Then there are the more conventional Literotica contests, where those stories get prioritised.

During busy periods, it's become common to wait for between 3-4 weeks for new stories to be published, and that includes established authors with thousands of followers. That also includes my main, and I've decided not to publish any more material on Lit for the time being as a delay of almost a month is far too long. There are only 12 months in the year, waiting for a whole month is a motivation killer. However, the website still publishes some trusted authors within the same 2-3 days without quality checks during busy periods, which isn't great for morale or motivation as it treats people differently.

The website's doing everything it can, but they've got limited resources and they're drowning in new submissions. They're doing their best.

Got it, thank you! Now it makes sense! It's sitting in pending so I will keep it there.

Thank you!! ❤️

Whatever you do, don't touch it! Being in Pending, it means no-one's looked at it yet. So many people think a delay means they've done something wrong, but that's never the case. It just means the story is still in the queue, steadily moving along.

Btw, if anyone here is interested in IR stories, Kacey is one of the best authors in the category. For us fans, glad to see your stories getting through the publishing process Miss Loveington!
Wow Fifth!! That means so much, especially coming from you. I’ve admired your writing for ages, so getting that kind of praise from someone I consider one of the best in the genre...it just hits different.

And funny timing too, as just last week I did a little post on my Patreon, recommending five erotic writers I think my readers should be following. Of course you were on that list. Here’s the segment I wrote about you, so you can see I’ve been fangirling quietly all along:

I had a lot of others mention you. And in fact someone else this morning was recommending your Wardens Wife story to another of my subscribers. So you're definitely one of the most popular and highly regarded writers amongst my little following!!

Thank you again — sincerely. It’s a weird, wonderful little space we write in, and hearing that from someone who actually gets it…really lifted me.

Hehe thank you! I will keep it in pending then. ❤️

Kacey,
Another reader forwarded your Patreon post to me recently. I was extremely flattered and sincerely appreciated it. You rock!

I sometimes wonder if its the name of the story, im new here have a story waiting weeks, dropped a chapter 3 of a story and its published in a day, if there are alot of stories with the same name. I wonder if it takes longer. And lmao 🤣 on the pun.

Don't think so. The site adds a sequential number to duplicated story titles in the url. It's probably an automatic feature - like when you download the same file twice, you get (1) added to the duplicate file name.

All I can say is my experience in the last one to two months has been totally different to yours. Ten stories - every single one approved quickly and published within 48 hours. All of them.

To be clear, those are my first ten stories as well.
