Pathetic

I believe the thread he linked was moved to the AH or is deep sixed for over 5K posts.
The thread is recent, but has been deleted. Can't say which forum it was in.

BTW, here are the 3 posts;

who are the hottest female authors on here with a pic on their profile ?

The ones who are guys pretending to be a woman, using a 'shopped pic they found on Tumblr.

*notices the empty thread for the first time as a ball of dusty tumbleweed rolls past*

Aww, crap....I'm late to the party.

Anywho, that's my 2 cents.

Don't count tumbleweeds yet -- people are still discussing this, maybe because the topic has branched off quite a bit from the OP's premise: that 50% of the stories women write are utter crap but men give them undeserved high marks and praise because the author has a vagina (they think) and they hope to get into said vagina.

I find that insulting and demeaning to the female authors on this site.

A lot of interesting angles have been brought up -- how many "female" authors are men posing as women? Does it matter if stories are written from a male POV vs a female POV? Several female authors write from 3rd person or a male POV. If a story is written from a female POV, what percentage of male authors assume that the story is autobiographical? Does it matter if the female author posts a sexy pic, or if her bio indicates she is horny and interested in sex partners? Seems only logical that if she posts, "I'm ready and available" as her bio that she would get more PM's -- but does that affect her story scores? How many readers come to this site just to look for a quick stroke story vs those who want to read a story with an interesting plot and characters, that also has hot sex scenes?

How about: do straight male readers really get off on stories from a male POV because they can put themselves in the narrator's place, but they don't comment on those stories because they feel weird telling a male author, "Wow, I really got off on your story"? What about gay male stories -- do gay male readers try to hook up with the authors by PM? Do they give high scores because they are hoping to get lucky, or just because they happen to like the subject matter?

I have at least one solid data point for that one. When you look at the difference between my stories as Les, most of which are longer/multi-chapter stories, vs. my RR pen name where almost everything is a Setup and Sex stroke story averaging 2 Lit pages, the numbers tell the tale.

http://www.darkniciad.com/hotlink_pics/All_3_Names_05_01_15.htm

Les Averages: 350 votes, 55k views, 10 comments, 15 favs
RR Averages: 800 votes, 90k views, 15 comments, 35 favs.

Considering large numbers of stroke readers are probably in a post-come coma or cleaning up, and thus not particularly worried about clicking stars or anything else, the difference is even more telling.

The number of readers here looking for quick satisfaction vastly outnumber those looking for anything more.

do gay male readers try to hook up with the authors by PM?

Yes. More by e-mail, though. As far as giving high ratings along with the e-mail, I often can tell that they didn't vote on the story at all. They went straight for a direct connection.

No shock there.

I mean no offense at all to this author, but will use them as an example. The number one favorited author here is Silkstockinglover. Look at her story list and some of the titles

Stocking Tales face full of cum

"Pet Mommy": Becoming a Mommy-Slut!
"Pet Mommy": DP Mommy-Slut!
"Pet Mommy":Fucking with Mommy-Slut

Dominican Slut: Ass Fucked

a series

What mom knows will fuck her
will fuck-her
will fuck her-ass
will fuck her in the air
will fuck her in Vegas

and this one.

What Mom Knows Fucks Her Mom

Pure shameless 100% porn in those titles. Personally I won't read anything with an eye roller title and others won't either, but the masses? This is what they want

and back to topic at hand...she is female and that along with the lurid titles have the guys clicking 5's like they are going out of style and faving her.

Thing is she has also written some romantic pieces and some good solid story lines as well, but end of the day the 'smut' is what's got her on top

She has her finger on the pulse here and it shows. 10K+ favs mind blowing number

Why is it demeaning to the women? Its not they're fault or intent(although I am sure some play up their sex appeal)

What it is, is embarrassing to us guys who act like we have been with a woman before and don't fall to the floor drooling and going "boobies!" when they interact with a woman.

Those straight up "Mom Fucks Son in the Pool" titles make me groan as well. At least give the title a little bit of wit. That's a description line, not a title.

I'd rather see a little more thought put into the description line as well, but I give a lot more leeway for pure punch there to offset a title that doesn't tell the reader exactly what they're getting.

Readers key into those blatant titles, though -- especially those looking for nothing more than something to fondle their bits to.

I think Katie's point is that it implies female authors with good ratings didn't really earn them. But I agree it's also demeaning to male readers.

When I started I used titles on my mom/son's that gave you the gist, but weren't "eye rollers" Things like

Mother of My Dreams A mother's Sacrifice satisfying my mother.

Then I did a few 'porno' titles Sharing mom with dad(bad as it sounds) My Mother's a Horny drunk with the clever tag line "Russ's mom teaches him the true meaning of bottom's up"

They seemed to do about the same give or take but here are the titles and numbers to two stories that really took off for me.

Mom Loves To Suck Sean's girlfriend won't do it, but his mother will!

And this all time classic.

Porn Shoot with My Sister Alicia will do anything to save the house, even her brother!

Porn shoot has been faved over 800 times.

The thing about Porn shoot is it is a lot more serious story than the title leads you to believe, but I deliberately went with something 'stroky'

Incest is an interesting category in that it seems to reward both "mom's hot why not?" strokers as well as long slow burn stories.

I don't think there are any concrete answers to the "How many" part because unless you have ALL the authors - male, female, fake-males and fake-females - coming out and say their experiences TRUTHFULLY, I have to say that we can only haggle on the assumptions flying around here.

I am incredibly impressed at they system and method you use to track your stories. You seem to have determined a correlation between story content/length/reader effort invested and number of views and votes. But I would not classify even your shortest "to the point" stories -- at least none that I've read -- as just fap fodder (the kind that read like Penthouse letters, where all of the female characters have their bra size listed as their primary characteristic, and every penis is a minimum of 9".) Just from a cross-section that I've read, all of your stories have appealing sex scenes. The higher views/votes on RR's stories could reflect a preference for shorter stories, unwillingness for the reader to invest the time to read a longer multi-part story (essentially a novella), or possibly just shorter attention spans.

Yes. More by e-mail, though. As far as giving high ratings along with the e-mail, I often can tell that they didn't vote on the story at all. They went straight for a direct connection.

This has been my experience as well.

Holy Cow. I can honestly say I have never read, nor been tempted to read, any of those stories -- not my cup of tea. Obviously, though, she has a huge fan base, and I would hazard a guess that she has a lot more male fans than female fans.

That being said...is it well written? Are her fans giving her undeserved high scores just because she is female and they are trying to score with her, or are they giving her high scores because she is writing what appeals to them? I can't bring myself to read those particular titles, so I'll trust others' judgement on that. Whether or not she has a sexy avatar, whether or not her bio sounds like she is horny and available, no matter how many PM's she gets -- does she deserve the scores she gets for the type of story she writes?

I don't think there are any concrete answers to the "How many" part because unless you have ALL the authors - male, female, fake-males and fake-females - coming out and say their experiences TRUTHFULLY, I have to say that we can only haggle on the assumptions flying around here.

Exactly. Of all the views and votes, we have no idea what gender those readers are. In the comments, many are anon or gender neutral, and of those who identify their gender/orientation, we only know what they choose to put down. And even though Bramblethorn presented the most statistical evidence, there are just too many variables -- point of view, avatar pic, come-hither vs. stay-away bio, etc.

But, they are still stroke stories. The only point of the story is getting to the sex. It's what I've always called one step above "is there another way I can pay for this pizza?"

Everything else is giving a limited level of humanity to the characters so they aren't just fucking machines going at each other.

Because the regulars expect more in my other two pen names, stories of that length and percentage of sexual content don't usually perform as well. The exception being the Mom/Son stories that I arbitrarily decided were going to be assigned to Les.

I may break that restriction at some point, because I fully expect such a story posted in this pen name to perform even better, because it's what my regular readers are used to.

Did you enjoy writing them? If so, isn't that justification enough? If not, why did you write and publish them? To get high ratings? If that was your purpose, then high ratings are reward enough, aren't they? You want both high ratings and the pleasure of looking down on what you had to do to get them?

Of course I enjoy them. It's the typically punny nature of them that I get enjoyment out of. The titles speak to that.

If they'd worked out as stories with more depth, I'd likely enjoy them more, but if I can put a twist on them and get a giggle out of them, that's good enough :) And at least this way, I don't have the idea nagging at me all the time, taking my thoughts away from stories that are going somewhere.

And I certainly enjoy the level of engagement I get from readers. It still amazes and tickles me when a story comes out and the votes go up faster than I can click the refresh button.
