It is stucco painted and ummm...drywall inside?

I need to patch this, pronto. Any suggestions?

Small hole use spacal (spelling?) or drywall compound.

Big hole...knock the rest of the wall down so it matches. :D

It is about the size of my fist.

Problem with knocking it down ~ it would only lead to outside! *and it is in my bedroom* I like my privacy ;)

Here's a really great tutorial with instructions for all of the different types of holes: http://www.easy2diy.com/cm/easy/diy_ht_index.asp?page_id=35720209

Thanks Erika...that should come in handy! I need to figure out how to match the stucco paint job too...

i had fist sized hole in my first apartment (long story).

i'm sure erika's link shows this but i found the best way to deal with it is to cut around the hole so it has nice, neat edges. fill the hole with some newspaper so you have a backing of sorts. then get some spackle to fill in the tiny gaps, level it out with a trowel and paint the wall.

That is what I just read. It isn't all the way through the drywall but, I need to clean up the exposed paper. It mentions using mesh...newspaper will do just as well? I don't want it bulging out.

the newspaper is for the space between the exterior wall and the interior wall... if there is any. if not, or if there's heavy insulation there, then skip the newspaper. in either case, the mesh is great over the surface... helps hold the spackle.

There is still some drywall there, it is kinda powdery. I'd say it is only approximately 1/4 or 3/8 of an inch deep.

I can't believe I have to patch the f'ing wall...

i once caused a body-sized hole in a wall... if yours was generated in a similar manner, that must've been one hell of an orgasm!

Now that's a party!!!!

The best way to patch a whole is to get one of those wall patch kits from a hardware store. They use a mesh to go over the hole, and provide stability, thenyou mud over it to make it look like the rest of the wall. You can also use a piece of screen, but newspaper won't give you much stability. Making itilook like there was neer a hole there is tough, especially for an amature. Heck I've done it a doezen times and it's still tough to do.

is it weird that my immediate thought was a comment that belongs in the "my cock is so big" thread? :>

Well I've never put my cock through a wall, but I have put ass through one. Unfortuantely there was no orgasm involved, just a lot of electricity.

D'OH!

i hope there were no lasting effects from this.

someone above metioned useing the mesh on the outside of the hole... use it on the inside.
do this by tieing a piece of string (kite string works well) to the mesh fit it inside the hole and hold it with the string,
build the wall out with the drywall compound, sand as needed, you might need to do two coats. but make sure you sand, or use a damp wash cloth (that makes less mess) then apply paint.

i've done this many times, i've put my fist through the wall quite a fit times... easy as pie, just take your time and think... thats all.

best of luck!

LOL! i just want you all to know, taht i LOVE YOU ALL!

I Needed a good laugh, and this thread provided that excellently!

about the patch.... the mesh stuff works really graet.... and at least you got the stucco thing going on... i had to patch a hole in the wall from a book hitting the wall{it was a BIG FREAKIN BOOK!} anyway.. the mesh stuff worked great, i had a helluva bad time getting the over stuff smooth tho.. the wall looked --- well--- not so great? afterwards... im guessing that the stucco will make it easier to match..
side note- the dry powdery stuff? make sure you VACCUUM the powdery stuff off, and you need to moisten the rest of the wall around the hole... ti will help it stick... anyway.. good luck.. :)

Hard to say. My brain is a little scrambled, but that's probably genetics.
well, we can fix that with some mesh and spackle too, right?

If this is an inside wall, it isn't stucco, it's textured plaster.

Stucco is concrete or clay on ouside walls.

From your description, it sounds like you've broken a chunk of the texturd plaster away from the drywall withut actually penetrating the drywall?

If that's accurate, your primary problem is going to be matching the texturing and that's going to be tough -- depending on which of several possible texturing techniques was used on the the original finish.

Perhaps a picture of the hole and surrounding wall texture would help us to give more accurate advice? The advice so far sounds to me like it's aimed at a more severe hole than you've actualy got.

Ussuly when I try to patch a wall the patch looks worse than the hole...The solution, hang a picture over it or call a contractor.

Bad thing is I allways wait to call the contractor till after I tried to fix it & they allways charge extra. Seems there is a universal fee added if you try to fix it yourself.

I have yet to patch...too busy with other things.

Unfortunately, it is too low to hang a picture, not to mention that my landlords will flip if they see this. I need to move this up on the priority list and get it done. Looks like a trip to Lowe's or Home Depot is in my future...someone mentioned a kit ~ I'm going to look for that!

Thank you all for your help and wisdom. This is my first patch job so we'll see how it goes.
