This poll goes in conjuction with the other poll here

http://www.literotica.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=63885

Make sure to answer both polls and not just one.

In the other poll I asked what you thought of Bush's job so far. Now I want to ask you what you think of him personaly.

These are two different things so keep them seperate.

I personaly think he is doing an above average job but I still don't like him very much as a person. He has impressed me more then I thought though so i have to knock him up a notch from his original standing.

Some opinions would be nice or at least bumbs to keep it up near the top.

Ever seen that page where they put monkey pictures next to him? Uncanny.

No wonder I sometimes feel so alone on this board... This is DEFINATELY a liberal board.... Did someone forget to check my party membership card at the door?..... Looks like I'm at a Democratic convention.....

You can tell it really bothers me.... right???:p

It doesn't look as skewed as you're making it out to be, Texan. As many people have said they like him "very much" as those that can't stand him.

Sometimes people have a hard time thinking that not all Conservatives are part of the Christian Coalition.....

And of course, all Libs know that Conservatives don't have sex organs....LOL

Funny.

Sometimes I get the distinct impression I'm on a Republican Board...

Doesn't bother me either.

:p

liberal?!?

A board where people are open to the varieties of sexual expression tends to be liberal? Get out!

Toph.... I like your new AV.... paint it red and it would like the Suburban in my back driveway....

BTW... there have been a lot of threads on the "demographics" (not democratics) of this board. I think it is understandable that it has a slight slant to the younger more liberal side. there's no problem with that....

you could make the argument that it's because the board is representative of "free expression"..... .or you could make the argument that it's because the board it a "porn" board....

Personally, I like the variety of opinions here....

:D

I voted for him after studying his record for about three months before the election. He is a man of his word..despite the spin from people that don't like him. Check out his professional conduct (not the spin), did you know how he handled the Texas Rangers? Did you know he was a fighter pilot? Do you know how unlike his Dad he is? He promised the Bikers of Texas when he was govenor, that if they got a helmet repeal bill through the house and senate, he would sign it . They did, and he did what he promised. (Jeb also repealed the helmet law in Fla)
I was at his speech up here, off the cuff, no written speeches. He is a good speaker, jovial, and sharp on his knowledge. I have total confidence in his judgement.
I know the whiners have alot to say about him, that's their right, just speak on confirmed truth, not the lies that I've heard before.

Well LC is here to take over the night shift so I am going to hit the sack, but I will comment on Bush.

I did like some of the things he promised to do, but I intensely dislike the legislation/actions his admin is supporting with regards to heavily infringing on our rights due to the WTC attack. We will recover fro mthe loss of life, from the hit to the economy, from the other traumas caused by WTC, but I don't know if we will ever recover our civil rights from the hits his admin has launched on our civil rights in the name of "security" and "safety".

I am very dissapointed.

STG

I think I'm fairly predictable by now.
I think Texan is fairly predictable (hope there's no offense there).

But, STG, you are all over the map!

Bush

As far as I'm concerned he's a good guy and comes over as quite likeable too. Love his rowdy daughters;)

He seems to be dumb as shit, though which is a shame. However he did have (or maybe his party did it for him) the good sense to surround himself with a good team.

I hope he gets a second term so he can let us all laugh at him for another 7 years!

I don't like him.

I don't like him and the boy could shit gold (which he has literally tried with the little check he had sent to everyone) and I wouldn't vote for him in the next election.

I have yet to get comfortable with the idea that if his father were not president, he would not be president.

He really wasn't elected, was he? The popular vote went to Gore and he was "awarded" the deciding electoral college votes in a state in which his brother was governor. Man, that stinks.
It reaks, really.

He reminds me of a southern, white conservative. I live around these people. You know the type. When they say "God bless America," they don't mean God as a universal creative force that lives in all men, they mean that dude with the long white beard that they talk about over at the first baptist church that owns half of downtown and is on television all the time.

There are other reasons I don't like him, like his stance on the death penalty, but I don't need to go into all of that. I just don't like him, think he is an idiot, and hope like hell we can get someone I admire for president next time.

He's a successful politician.

That's everything that needs to be said about him. Noone gets to be a success in politics by being nice. Appearing to be nice maybe.

There are some other reasons that I don't like him, but they belong on the other thread.

Interesting spread!

Why cool poll, Azwed. The choices you offered are great. As of now, neither of the extremes have any votes, but neither does the neutral. Interesting. Thanks.

And given his approval ratings in the national polls, it's interesting that here he's running just slightly to the negative. (12 neg, 9 pos--but the positives are much more emphatic).

I did these two polls specificly to test something. I want to wait a few more days to try and get a few more votes to say anything else. Some of the people that know a bit about statistics and how poll questions are formed might know where I am going.

I would say this board is a fair representative sample. Slight left leaning of couse, but there are a group of very harcore err i mean out spoken conservatives.

I could never get really accurate results on any online board though at least not with a question like this. I don't think I could find a board with a broad enough spectrum of people.

So come on people that haven't voted vote. I still don't have enough number to hint at the possibility that what I was thinking is correct.

So, his Daddy got him the job??? Or is it name familiarity??

If he really wasn't elected, then why is he sitting in the white house?? Maybe if the news agencies weren't so quick to name Bush the winner in Florida, then retract it, and name Gore the winner, then retract it, throw their hands in the air and say they really didn't know...perhaps it wouldn't have gotten as contentious as it did....But if Gore was really interested in a "true" count, then why only challenge those ballots in heavily Democrat districts?,

There's alot of reason to question on both sides how this all came about. But to claim that Jeb Bush had anything to do with it, is the same as my accusing Clinton with Vince Fosters death.

The idea that Gore may have been president is what scares me, because like Clinton, he would have dealt with the Sept 11 attacks by sending a $2 million cruise missile up a camels butt, and claiming he has successfully defeated terrorism....

After 8 years of Clinton, and his "legacy"...perhaps what bothers you is Bush's popularity...because it's been a year, and even the talking heads on TV aren't questioning the election any more.

I like the man, I trust the man, and I'm glad I voted for the man.

Sorry if you don't, but that's your right.....

Not really; stick around and learn more about me - I am actually fairly consistent given what I believe in. It is only those who have preconceptions and misconceptions about stereotypes that are surprised by what I say.

Those that don't put people in little cubbyholes are not surprised to find that some people don't stay inside the lines.

Ok, for this cubby-hole put-er, why don't you give a short (by no means expected to be comprehensive) synopsis of your philosophy.

Sounds like you, yourself, have me stereotyped as a "cubby-hole put-er".
I'll repeat that anyone who claims that he doesn't label and categorize is being disingenuous. We all have our ways of making sense of the world. When I approach oncoming traffic on a 2-lane highway I label that guy as "someone who stays on his side of the road". He may well not do so, but it makes life easier if I make that assumption. That's a tenuous example, but it's the first to jump into my head. I thnk it communicates what I mean. Everything we know is based upon assumptions cf Goedel. I think everyone's categorizations are in a constant state of flux, so I will say that I disagree that I am "surprised" by your apparent movement inside of my taxonomy. I was just informing you of my observation of that movement in my post. How could I be surprised when I live with the cognitive dissonance in my own head every day? I think we can agree that I would have lost wagers, were they made, on predictions of your behavior. I would have won some wagers too. For some other unnamed people here I would have cleaned house!
So yeah, I categorize. I'll even own up to "stereotype". But it serves me well if not 100% consistently, and others, perhaps with more tact or quieter voice, probably do it as much or more without displaying it.

Just a Guy

As I have said before, I think Dubya is the most amazingly lifelike muppet to come out of the Jim Henson Workshop ever.

My philosophy, while somewhat eclectic, is that I search for and adopt truth rather than dogma. That is extremely general, but it is the essence of my philosophy. I don't always suceed in my search and adoption of truth, but I sincerely try and I do not let preconceptions get in my way.

The best way to find out what I think on any particular issue is to seach the GB for my posts by clicking on my profile and starting at the beginning. A lot of issues have come up in the months I have been here, and I have been upfront and honest in all of the posts I have made.

Sometimes I describe myself as a Heretic, other times as a fundamentalist Christian, both labels I can reconcile easily.

Sometimes I use the label Libertarian - but only for those that don't understand that most people who call themselves Liberal are anything but. I can see that you and I disagree on a number of issues, most glaringly the role of government, but we probably agree on a lot of ther issues too.

I do believe in Liberty, Freedom and the "American Way", but you will see me disagreeing with many people about what is the "American Way" - and I have the facts and arguments to back up my views on that issue.

Like I said, I will be upfront and honest to answer with how I think about any issue, but I am not always going to be participating in threads that address issues I have covered previously unless I have something new to say.

As for stereotypes being useful. Well yes, we all have to make some assumptions, but we must be ready to have those assumptions challenged and we shouldn't be so ready to treat people solely based on our preconceptions/misconceptions.

There is proper use and there is misuse of stereotypes, and I get tired of the misuse exhibited by people who are too lazy to allow for variability. The SUV/asshole stereotype thread exhibited just how many people harbored the misconception that the SUV/Asshole stereotype is true, even in general.
