I don't want to cut her hair, but every clip or elastic I put in it to hold it out of her eyes she pulls out.

Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat pretty much. I'm now wishing I had bought a Flowbee when they came out.

Have you tried a straightjacket?

I do the cutting thing, perks. It's a pain, but it's life.

I had to do the bangs with my eldest daughter,my youngest one never pulled out a hairbow, ever.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The answer to that question necessitates that one has a little one on which to experiment ....................

Can you ask me again in abour 5 years? I should have figured it out by then. Although i do like the crazy glue idea........:D

How old is she?

Try letting HER pick what holds her hair back. Maybe even take her shopping and let HER buy something she likes -- you can teach her about money at the same time.

Perhaps a bit young to take shopping then, but old enough to have an opinion of what she wants in her hair.

yeah, her opinion is "I want things in my hair, until we're at the place we're going then I'm going to rip it out and not let you put the things back in, so I look like I have cowlicky hair"

Well, my first thought when I saw the thread title was, "Peanut Butter!" Peanut butter is the answer to many problems with children's hair. ;)

Perhaps a mousse or gel will stick the hair to her head long enough to make a quick run out into public and back before she messes it up.

is that okay for baby's hair? or is it too strong?

Hair is hair -- a mousse or gel won't hurt her hair. You probably want to be careful about choosing one that's full of chemicals that might irritate her scalp or get in her eyes, there are some pretty mild hair care proucts out there that are fine for children.

(Of course Peanut Butter or library paste will do the job too, and she probably already puts those in her hair. :))

fabric headbands?

How 'bout a soft fabric headband that would pull the in-the-eyes part back, but would not clip the hair so hard that it looks awful when she decides to take it out?

I still take my clippies out when I get anywhere (public clippie anxiety?), and I often have cowlicks. I have never grown out of the habit. Isn't that encouraging?

Messy hair is awfully cute, though. Try the headbands if it really bugs you, though.

Would it be inappropriate to flirt with you on a thread about children? I checked out your web page... WOW you're a hottie!

I'll have to take a look. I don't use any hair product like mousse or gel or hairspray in my hair. Can you suggest any?

she won't even let me put those on her noggin.

She's a little feisty girl.

btw, not to get in the way of RH's perving, but you are very pretty, but your attitude is what sells me.

I don't use much in the way of hair care stuff either. I'll ask my daughter, the Avon Lady. She's gone throught his with both of my granddaughters.

LMAO We could share...

product suggestions

Johnson's Kids makes a great line of non-irritating, gentle products especially for kids. They are inexpensive, and have kid-friendly fragrances. The containers make good tub toys when you get done with them, too. I would suggest a styling creme rather than a mousse or a gel-- it won't feel crunchy or look stiff.

Perky, they do sell gel designed for children's hair. I bought some at my local dollar store. It works well and doesn't get it all gunky. I put it in my son's hair after each washing to help keep it in place. He's not had any sort of bad reaction to it and he enjoys the fact I don't have to chase after him with the hair brush and water bottle every 10 minutes. :)
