Don't know where else to gush, so here goes.

Just had my first story posted and I am really impressed with the site. I had no idea there would be 1000 views by 10:00 a.m. I thought maybe a few folks would find my story and maybe I'd get some feedback.

Whoa!

I got thoughtful emails and feedback, and you like me. You really like me.

When I started my story I wasn't sure if I should keep going, and submitted to see what the response would be. Now I'm beaming with support and encouragement.

Thank you, thank you. I'll get back to writing now.

Hello, and welcome! You should link us to your story so that we can all join in the fun :D

Thank you TheeGoatPig. Wasn't sure if that was allowed or considered spamming. But here you go http://*******.com/yjrm3t7
Secret Life of an Invisible Girl.

:)

But you are linking to another part of the same site, so it's all good.

I'll have a look at your story later.

Gush all you want, but you have to post pics. :cattail:

Oh, the story - right - I love it.

For the next week I was useless, worse than useless and destructive. Wanting a man in general was by far easier to deal with than wanting a man in particular. I was stuck in that torture of self-inflicted elation and despair, shifting from fantasy to reality and back again. I was giddy with incompetence. I tried to convince myself that I had not lost my mind and that it would take an apocalypse to drag me back to that den of demons and now temptation that was the DA's office.
Nice.

Sorry. Thought you were talking about a different kind of gushing. LOL. My bad.

........but seriously, congratulations

Congrats! Don't resist checking back every fifteen minutes to see if things have changed. :)

Welcome to the madhouse and the glory's of writing. Just watch out for the trolls, they have no sense of humor and hate for you to be happy. Smacking them with a club makes you feel better but makes them even worse. Just ignore them and sometimes they will go away but never far.

And we like gushing of all sorts. :D

Welcome to Lit and the AH. We don't really like you. We are only giving you a false sense of security before we go for the kill :D

Welcome to the AH :rose:

Jenny, if you don't start marinading them first, I'm gonna stop cooking them, damn it. The last few have been a little tough.

:)

Thank you all for the welcome and encouragement. Yes, I do like the double entendre, and I managed to resist checking back for a whole hour at a time.

Some of the later feedback has been interesting. Thinking of changing my profile to include, "It's fiction, people." Hi Butch, from Idaho.

Working on the next part as it now seems I have a public to please.

Thanks again.

You could post "This is not a true story. It is fiction" in 4 inche bold letters across the top of each page and it wouldn't do any good with some readers. Bless their little hearts.

Now I need some practical advice. Should I respond to all the feedback personally with a thank you? What is the etiquette for dealing with feedback? Appreciate any guidance here. Thank you.

Yes. Especially to that guy, Anonymous. He's a real jerk. There's a special thread just to respond to him :D

I can't believe he thinks I'm warped :(

Hi, Emma, and welcome to Lit. and the AH in particular. :) This is a nice place to hang out, and I think we all feel the same about seeing our first story posted. I know I did.

ETA: Responding to feedback is up to you. I usually do, unless it is just a pointless insult. Of course, most of that kind of thing isn't signed.

Hi
