Paranormal Activity

My mother's house is haunted by a woman and a dog. The dog was ours, and she decided to stay there when she died. Sometimes we see her walking past.

The woman is usually in the hallway or the kitchen. When I lived at home I would hear sounds in the kitchen either like someone moving the dishes or sometimes like the dog walking on the floor- but when I'd go to check the dog would be sleeping. I used to imagine that the ghost of an old indian woman walked through the hallways, and then recently my stepdad said that he saw the outline of a woman in the hallway with long hair and a dress.

One year on new years eve, I was a teenager and I was sitting in a chair by a wall. I went to stand up and something *moved me* around the corner without my feet ever touching the ground. I landed on my butt! That was the strangest thing that ever happened to me. Everyone was looking when it happened and saw me *fly* around the corner. My stepdad said it was probably poltergiest because I was a teenager and my mom said "not funny" and he said "I'm not kidding"

I don't really think it was a poltergiest, but I think it may have been a ghost. I didn't think it was meant to hurt me, it was more like a joke. At least I remember laughing and not being particularly scared- although I did think it was rather *spooky.*

Walk through the french quarter of New Orleans at night. It will make believer of you!

I couldn't sleep one night at went into the computer lab on campus at around 4am. I felt a bit nervous as I passed the window, because I saw this guy sitting in there. He was pale, his eyes were bloodshot and he looked really really unhappy. The weird thing is, when I went in, there was no one there and no other door that he could have gone out through. At the time I was sensible and convinced myself that my eyes were playing tricks on me, but looking back I'm not so sure. It wasn't just a quick glimpse of someone - I was even able to describe his haircut. Very odd.

If anyone has pictures (idea inspired by EK) of anything related to the thread topic, post here or on EK's thread....

Pics, sound bytes, websites, etc.

Thanks

When I was 7 my eldest brother was playing with a ouji board in the garage with some friends. I wasn't present so I don't know if this is true or not. Apparently, he got burned by using the board, his arm was seared and his eyebrows were a bit crispy. I personally think it was a smoking accident or something, with a lame coverup.. *chuckle*

However, that isn't saying I dont' believe in the paranormal. I very much enjoyed the unit of para-psychology that I took.

I have seen quite a number of things that I can't explain, be they spirits, ghosts, or just tricks of the eye. I've met several people who possess psychic abilities of some sort or another, though I've yet to meet a person who claimed they had telekinisis and was actually able to move things with their minds. (I can move things with my mind.. "Hey bitch, get me a beer." *grin*)

Anyways, if I remember any specifics about things I've seen, I'll be sure to return and rant about them, until then however, just know that I believe.

I was talking with a friend last night who is heavily into chess.

He mentioned this game.

The page is in German. I know there are webpage translators out there, but I'm too technically incompetent (and lazy) to use them.

It is a correspondence chess game with Victor Korchnoi playing black and a medium channeling Maroczy, who died in 1951, playing white.

According to my friend, the medium did play a game in Maroczy's style.

Not saying I believe this. Just something that popped up in conversation last night.

Seeing Ghosts

Is it possible to see things in our peripheral vision that we aren't able to see straight on?

I've heard that the peripheral part of our eyes is, as we all know less sensitive to detail. But more sensitive to light. So you might notica a change in the nuance of a spot, that you wouldn't detect if looking directly at it.

But don't trust me on it, I'm not a doctor. Might be one of those "fun facts" that are just ... not.

I grew up in what everyone (my sister, my friends, even my mom...) called a haunted house... The only physical entity I knew of was an older gentleman (dressed in a suit) carrying a briefcase or suitcase. I saw him a couple of times, and once I was with a friend, who looked at me, screamed and we BOTH ran upstairs. I do however, think there was more than one entity there, just from a gut feeling. Heh. My family calls me a ghost magnet. I seem to attract them, or I am just more observant of those kind of things. *shrug* It was mainly my basement that was haunted... I rarely saw things upstairs. Another strange occurance was when I was little (more so than later) my toys often moved themselves. I'd be playing upstairs, and then go down to the basement (to watch TV, or play Nintendo) and find the toy sitting on the floor when I got downstairs. Sometimes I would go upstairs to check, and it would be gone from upstairs, other times... there ended up being two.

The most signifigant one of these instances was when a group of my friends and I were playing monopoly, in my room upstairs and the little dog peice went missing in the middle of the game. Several hours later, I went to use the bathroom downstairs, and there is the dog peice, on the floor. (Note, the peice could not have fallen through the vent, the vent came out in another room, I know because I used to drop things down it all the time)

The scariest thing that happened (in that house), I think, was at one of my birthdays. My friends and I were in the basement, getting some drinks from the fridge. We stopped to talk around the big long freezer, and I put my drink down on it, about a foot and a half from the edge. After a few minutes, it slowly began to slide off the freezer. My friends and I stopped talking to watch (in shock of course) and it turned upside down, dumped ALL of the contents (it had been full) on the floor and then fell gently, landing on it's side.

Earlier this year, when I was still living with my roomies, I was sleeping in my room. The door was locked from the inside. I was asleep. I woke up from this dead sleep, because I sensed something at the door. I thought I heard someone there. I said "what?" assuming it was one of my roomies wanting something from me. I opened my eyes and there was this dark igure IN my room. It was moving towards me, half slinking. Freaked the hell out of me. I told it to go away. I said if that it needed me for some reason to bug me during daylight hours and let me sleep. Heh.

... I have lots more, but thats all I feel like adding at the moment.

I constantly feel, hear, and half see things at work. Today while I was cleaning one of my last rooms, I came out to my cart to get a spray bottle when out of the corner of my eye I saw a figure leaning against one of the doors. When I looked up it was gone.

Another time, about a week or two ago, I lost all composure at work and was in tears doing my last room. I was angry and upset, and a pair of brown shoes appeared. I couldn't see anything else...just the shoes. It was like whoever or whatever it was got curious about why I was upset. I was so pissed, in fact, that I yelled at the shoes to go away and that I wasn't in the mood. They disappeared.

Creepy shoes, SIMA. Mine was much more active when I was younger. I don't "see" so much as "feel" and that's easier for me to interpret. Although it's hard to "feel" something specific.

Since I don't get picture symbols, I'm mostly straining and trying to think my way through it..."What, Universe? Timmy's stuck down the well and needs his insulin?"

I pay more attention now to what is or isn't there now that I'm a bit older. Sometimes I see, sometimes I hear, sometimes I sense. When I see, a lot of it makes me wonder if I'm crazy. I'm constantly seeing through my peripheral vision, always sensing. But my senses seem to be heightened now that I'm older.

Well, I'm fairly convinced I am crazy, so that clears that up.

It was happening too early in my life, too often, for me to really question it, it just seemed normal. I think the biggest real shock was when I found out it didn't happen to other people.

Happens to me often. My biggest challenge is to not let what i experience scare the hell out of those around me.

Best way you will ever develop a poker face.

And every time I see a movie where a psychic freaks I think "Amateur."

My husband and I owned a 125 year old farmhouse that was turned into a church rectory before being sold to a friend of ours who sold it to us. You could hear people talking upstairs when no one was up there. Lights flashed on and off, footsteps on the stairwell, laugher, the whole bit. None of that really bothered me because I've always been a firm believer that if your dog isn't spooked, you shouldn't be.

But then, one night, I was asleep on the couch and my vacuum cleaner, which was in the diningroom, turned on. I thought maybe the dog had walked across the switch or one of the cats had ran across it so I got up to turn it off. That was when I noticed the nicely wrapped cord and the plug which was no where near an outlet.

That one got to me.

An old lady fell down the stairs, which I fell down too actually after I had my back surgery. She wasn't as luck as me, she died. My little sister says she'd seen her more than once in the hallway upstairs.

Now we live with a very old cemetary in our back yard and every once in a while I smell cigarette smoke in the house. No one smokes here. I think George, which is what we called the ghost, moved down here with us.

I mostly get moments where I'm not doing the right thing and everything will go haywire.

Woke up one night after not paying attention much to guidance about heading down a wrong path...every bit of water in the apartment was running. And I was the only one living there.

Wake up in the middle of the night a second before phones ring.

Stop right before getting crushed.

So it really calls me and I follow, it won't follow me worth a damn other than to say "Don't step in that" or "Don't let that person step in that"

I freak my little sister out because I get these feelings, usually dread, where I know something bad is going to happen. The day my car blew up I went into the bathroom to get ready and this thought hit me, good thing I took a shower and have on clean underwear.

The car blew up, I ended up having a heart attack, literally and had an ambulance called.

I've learned to listen to those feelings.

I hear knocking - often before someone dies. Like someone would knock on a wooden door.

I often have visions of events before they happen - both good and bad. It's not the actual vision that scares me, it's the detail. I smell, see, even feel the breeze on my skin.

I see many unexplained things, which i have accepted as "energies". Usually they are comforting, especially when I am used to them and they have been around me for a while. But when a new ones comes along it always takes me a while not to be frightened by it. Sometimes they are with me physically - like sitting on my back or walking into me or through me.

I often dream about the paranormal - frigtening nightmares at times which leaves me so scared that I would not go back to sleep under any circumstances.

I'm crazy, but it's who I am.

When I was 17 I was having a phone conversation with my best friend who had recently moved to a town 200 miles away. Moments after a hung up the phone, I got an strange urge to break out a picture of him. I sat there on my bed with the picture and cried as an overwhelming feeling of lonliness came over me. I was so depressed that I couldn't go to school the next day. When I did return to school, I was told that my friend had commited suicide mere moments after we had hung up the phone.

To make matters even stranger, I was so dejected by this that I considered suicide myself. A week after my friends death, I got a knife on my way home from school, intending to slit my wrists. For reasons that I still can't fathom, I checked the mail before heading up into the woods to do the deed. There was a letter there from another friend who was off in college. I took the letter with me figuring it would be the last thing that I read.

I went up into the woods, found a quiet spot, broke out the knife and the letter. I opened the letter and to my total astonishment the very first words on the page were: PUT DOWN THE KNIFE YOU IDIOT!!!

I still have that letter and read it when ever I feel totally down as a reminder that there are always people who care. That friend saved my life. Curiously enough, she was the girlfriend of the friend who had died...

To add to my post of earlier, sometimes there are so many energies around me, that i think I am the "ghost" and they are where they should be.

I am clairaudient, slightly clairvoyant. What this all means is I am always constantly seeing things, hearing things, sensing things that are not on this plane of existence. I don't like ghosties, goblins and things that go bump in the night. But for some odd reason, these same things are drawn to me...

I have seen (and dreamed) my mother (who died in 04) a total of 5 times...I have seen my little sister (who died in 87) more times than I can count. I have also seen two relatives of SIMA's..I described them to her...*shiver*

I really don't deal well with this type of stuff...freaks me out something fierce...
