No, it's not a BDSM term, I saw it on the description of tasting a bottle of wine... a rare Australian Grenache. I thought I was having a cross-wired brain moment until I realized it's not English.

I walked past several doorways in Paris hastily when I saw that sign until the proverbial penny dropped in my mind.

Especially when a lot of those doorways were around the Gars de L'Est station (one of red light districts !)

Yeah, I am, because the people who post wine tasting notes are always struggling for new terms, and the NEXT descriptive term included the good ol english word, "toast" as well (redundancy would be a sign he didn't know what to say, eh?)

Grenache

Hopefully it's a grape variety.
Yes. It is. Also called Garancha, and particularly delightful when you find it attached to old roots (as in "ancient vines") when it's sucking up minerals from deep, deep in the soil. There are ancient vines (as in, 40-100 years old) in most regions, and the wine from them is always richer (IMHO.) For grenache the best is from Spain, but I am seeking the alternatives from Australia presently.

There, more than you wanted to know about my wine habit.
