Paid Erotica

Greetings everyone, I'm a long-time reader of Literotica but a first-time visitor to the discussion boards, so I apologize in advance if this question's already been dealt with a thousand times. My question to all you authors or would-be authors of erotica is, can you recommend any PAYING outlets for writing erotica, either online or magazines or publishers? And can you offer your experiences with these outlets? MUCH appreciated -- BigShaker

However check the thread at the top of the Author's Hangout - Literotica writers and their books.

Those who do get published have to jump through many hoops, badger agents and publishers, and work hard at it.

In the UK there is a book 'The Writers' Handbook'. It lists all the publishers and agents and their specific requirements. By the time you have read through all of it there are very few who will take unsolicited manuscripts, and fewer still who take erotica. I am sure there is a similar publication in the US.

Some have been picked for publication because their stories here or elsewhere were noticed. Given the number of authors and stories in Literotica and on the net that is like waiting to be struck by lightning.

If you want to be published you have to do the research and work at approaching publishers as hard as if you were unemployed and wanting a job. A hundred approaches might lead to one 'perhaps'. A thousand...? Any will be wasted if you don't read their requirements first. Most don't want completed works, only a synopsis and a couple of chapters.

You have to sell your work - hard.

See my sig line, for starters, my publisher is always looking for good writers in that particular niche. Also there is an oft-recommended very good site at Erotica Readers and Writers which lists many helpful names.
