I'd have to do away with the quilt, though. Would that be okay with you? Maybe bring in a faux bearskin rug?
 
What's wrong with the quilt? A nice simple, elegant nine patch. Very classical, I love my quilt.

I spent some miserable time working in an Amish restaraunt. Quilts galore...ick!

No problems with loosing the quilt.Won't the bearskin itch when lounged on though ?

I vote really thick wool blankets.

Fleece would be a bit to modern for the room I think,how about we get one wool blanket and a faux bearskin rug for testing which is most comfortable.

We'll have to do comprehensive testing to come to a fair judgement on the issue.

I've heard the roll test is the best.
