Pagan Corner

Here, Spring is still warring with Winter to release his chilly grip...back and forth over the weeks they've gone!

At the moment, Spring is winning; the flowers are in full bloom, I've seen a few first butterflies, and the little barking deer are out in droves!

The circle is returning, I need to tap into the flow and replenish!

I hope you all have a blessed weekend!

Brightest blessings to you!! Another bump for a more than worthy thread

To you (and you and you..even you)

The Grove (4-16-01)

At the greening, in the dawn
Wolf pups fill the air with song
Joyful yips and mournful howls
Cirlcle Sky Father's unblemished brow

At the greening, with the sun
Tender rabbits begin their run
Up and over hill and dale
Through the glen, near the vale

At the greening, noon sky blue
Ravens start their cry and hue
Purple dark wings lift in flight
Racing the sun toward the night

At the greening, evening sky dark
Listen now for the call of lark
Small chirps and twitters, all around
From Father's height to Mother's low ground

At the greening, in the night
Hear the laughing elves and sprites
Glowing like small balls of flame
To dance until dawn comes again.

(my friend and I sang this...she set the music, I wrote the words...at one of our very first combined rites for Litha)

Bright blessings to you all

And on and on... A new moon and a new dream
I'm learning to feed my soul...

all over again

is not the sight of the crescent moon with Venus in it a sign.....
a sign to ponder.
into the mists i go.
until merry we meet again.

THIS POEM IS TITLED LUPE

Twas down in Cunt Valley where red rivers flow,
Where maidenheads flourish and cocksuckers blow.
Twas there I met Lupe, the girl I adore,
My hot-fucking, cocksucking Mexican whore.

Lupe lost her cherry when she was but eight
Swinging upon the old garden gate.
The cross-member broke and the upright slipped in,
And she finished her life in a welter of sin.

She'll fuck you; she'll suck you; she'll tickle your nuts;
And if you're not careful she'll suck out your guts.
She'll wrap her legs around you until you think that you'll die.
Oh! I'd rather eat Lupe than sweet cherry pie.

[But] Now Lupe is dead and she lies in her tomb,
While maggots crawl out of her decomposed womb.
But the smile on her face is a sure cry for more--
My hot-fucking, cocksucking Mexican whore!

Happy Summer Solstice,
The Burkes (Adam, Chris, & Pi-pi)

From some website I searched out looking for Solstice poetry.

I saw that in a Hallmark card once.

A good friend of mine used to sing that song .It brings back pleasant memories of my misspent youth.

~ blurb ~

The Summer Solstice is an astronomical term regarding the position of the Sun in relation to the celestial equator. The Summer Solstice is the date with the longest day and hence with the shortest night. This date usually falls near June 21 (in the Northern hemisphere) or December 21 (in the Southern hemisphere).

At the time of this solstice, the earth is in that point of its orbit at which the hemisphere in question is most tilted d towards the sun, causing the sun to appear at its farthest above the celestial equator when viewed from earth.

Midsummer is the time around the summer solstice. There are traditional holidays celebrated in Northern Europe and elsewhere at this time. It is also a sabbat of Neopaganism. Please note that this midsummer is not the middle of summer, if summer is defined as the warm time of year, because of delayed heating effect. Indeed, summer may be defined to begin with the summer solstice.

May the warmth of the summer solstice touch your lives and your hearts. Blessed be my brothers and sisters!

Brightest blessings to all!

To His Love

SHALL I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd.

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wanderest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:—
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

William Shakespeare

Midsummer

Happy Litha everyone!

However you choose to celebrate this turn of the wheel I wish you the all the power and strength as the God possesses today...

This is also the time, other than Samhain, that the veils to the other world are thinnest. I always include the Faery folk in my rituals but I extend a special invitation to them on this night...

In this world of "progress" they are losing their habitat at an alarming rate so they appreciate having a safe place to live within my woods.

EAST and THE BREATH OF THE AIR SPIRITS

The element of Air represents communication. It is symbolic of inspiration, imagination and makes possible the power of sound, especially music and poetry! The true power of these arts are awakened with the spirits of the Air!
Universal qualities and benefits that are most attributed to Air spirits are:

· Delicate and ethereal in nature and appearance
· They communicate with us through fragrances, breezes or the finding of feathers
· They are attracted to us by music, (especially wind instruments), singing and whistling
· They are drawn to those who write and read poetry, for poetry is the music of words
· They can stimulate musical abilities and inspiration
· They are essential to language, especially the languages of plants and animals
· They teach us the harmony of all things and people
· They play a role in weather magick, for they are the spirits of the smallest breeze to the strongest gale

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves”.
-John Muir, 1901

INVOCATION and INVITATION TO THE FAERIES OF AIR

May the choir of the universe always play it’s music here.
Bring to us melodies of peace and high vibration.
May the songs of the stars ever ring out in glory,
And the whispering of the trees always speak to us of truth

With open arms and open heart, We of this Circle invite all benevolent spirits of the East,
The Dryads of the highest tree boughs,
The tiny Fey, beloved of the Triple Goddess,
And The Seelie Court, blessed Trooping Faeries of the Winds,

Sylphs and Faeries of the Air,
Welcome to the harmony and enchantment of our forest!

So mote it be!

THE WARMTH OF THE FIRE SPIRITS

The element of Fire represents passion in all facets of our lives. It is what stimulates our inspiration and powers our creativity. The beings of the fire realm are quite varied, as there are so many aspects of this element. There is the flame, the spark, the smoke, the heat. There is lightening from the sky and molten lava that flows like water under the earth. Change is it’s most notable quality and with that comes a certain level of unpredictability. Working with this realm can be challenging but extremely rewarding. Passion and vitality in all we do can only be beneficial to us.

Universal qualities most often associated with the realm of Fire are:
· They are called into being and enticed by strong rhythms
· The are dynamic catalysts for change and transformation. They are agents for the processes of creation and destruction
· They hold the keys to the mysteries of life after death. Most evident in the spirit that uses the Phoenix which rises from it’s own ashes
· They often appear in the forms of dragons, fireflies, snakes and other reptiles
· They are powerful in assisting us in the awakening and developing our kundalini energy
· They teach us the physical and spiritual aspects of alchemy
· They help us understand the true significance, power and applications of sexual energy, physical and spiritual.

INVOCATION AND INVITATION TO THE FIRE FAERIES

May the sunshine, the moonlight and the starlight always meet as one in this forest.
May the flames of purity always burn brightly; And the ever moving energy always glow throughout these woods.

With open arms and open heart, We of this Circle invite all benevolent spirits of the South,
The Oakmen, guardian spirits of the sacred oak groves,
The Drakes, keepers of the hearth, found deep in the woods,
Come dance with us in timeless revelry!
The Will ‘O the Wisp, Elf Fire, who glitter enticingly, just out of reach, seductively leading us to faery gatherings.

Salamanders and Faeries of the Fire,
Welcome to the harmony and enchantment of our forest!

So mote it be!

THE EBB AND FLOW OF THE WATER SPIRITS

The element of water represents our emotions, feelings and feminine sides. Working with this realm opens up the mysteries of intuition and divination. Water is the blood of the Earth. It is the oceans, the seas and the tear drops in your eyes. With no beginning and no end, the magick of water knows no bounds. Wherever there is a natural source of water, the water spirits can be found.

Universal qualities associated with Water Spirits are:

· Great beauty, often reflected in feminine forms, though not always.
· They are generally sweet and gentle and genuinely fond of humans
· Like all faeries, they have a love of music and are beautiful singers
· They are able to replenish our energy and have amazing healing abilities
· Working with this realm, we learn to develop our psychic abilities
· Natural ponds and wells and especially freshwater springs are doorways into the faery realm. Pools of water after a rain are temporary gateways but care must be taken in using these as an access since evaporation may cause the pool to dry up and the door to disappear. Using the pool as a window instead is safer.

INVOCATION AND INVITATION TO THE WATER SPRITES

We offer libations to the deep, watery heart of this place.
To the hidden springs that echo in buried rocks.
To all the dews, of all the mornings,
Past and yet to come…
From soil to sky, to sweet, rich rain,
Run under rock and rise again
We drink to you and celebrate your mystic ebb and flow.

With open arms and open heart, We of this circle invite all benevolent spirits of the west,
Sprites of the clear running forest streams, playful river nymphs, Fossegrim, the guardians of the waterfalls,
Bring us your magickal song!

Undines and Faeries of Water,
Welcome to the harmony and enchantment of our forest!

So mote it be!

NATURE SPIRITS OF THE NORTH

The element of Earth implies foundation, structure, form and substance. The friendly nature spirits of this realm are the most numerous of any realm! They teach us how we are connected to the Earth and to each other, through things growing upon Her. And reveal the hidden treasures buried within ourselves.

INVOCATION AND INVITATION TO THE EARTH SPIRITS

In the beginning there was only the soft echo of the forest,
The silent song of the trees whispering memories of forever…
In the deep, dark earthiness of the ancient forest was a profound sense of security.
May we always feel safe in this woodland, to play freely and explore our imaginations and creative selves…

With open arms and open heart, We of this Circle invite all benevolent spirits of the North,
To our Elven kin, who live deep within the Earth, among the tangled roots of sacred trees,
To the Dwarves, hidden in underground caves and miners of treasure,
Robin Goodfellow, Puck and Pan! Robin Hood, Robin Wood! The Lord of the Greenwood! All these names we know you by!

Gnomes and Faeries of the Earth,
Welcome to the harmony and enchantment of our forest!

I know this was kind of long... actually it was only part of my ritual for Solstice 2002. I edited a lot. If you wanted the whole thing PM me.

I had a wonderfully uplifting summer solstice... Informal, lots of friends and family, did tarot cards for everyone. It was one of the best solstices to date!

Fair Journey my friend!

You never know how quick the universe is really moving until you view it through a telescope!

Bale Fires are lighting all through the land
The Fey folk are dancing, their hour's at hand
Their music is heard in the chattering stream
Their call echos out on the wings of a dream
