hmmmm. how about a tan?

I hope you have a great time. Enjoy the beach and ocean too.
There is something about sitting on a beach, anywhere at all it seems, and just getting attuned to the ocean. Once it gets in your blood, well, its there forever.:D

I know about being nervous. Even though i was by myself I was quite nervous as I began my ritual on Samhain. It turned out great though. Well, I think it did anyway.;) I learned many things, one of them being that I didn't mind being skyclad at all during my ritual. Matter of fact, after I got started, it seemed right and natural.

One more reason that I feel that I am on the correct path now.:)

Image, if you pick up a shell from the beach and bring it home, remember your trip and any particular thing that you think brought you closer to The One. That will be what I would really like to see you bring back for me. That and a nice tan too.

Did you know that I was born and raised there? I had never even seen snow... until I was 39! So I know how it's there forever...

Hey are you Alaskan through and through... just wondering where you're from.
I think at the least I'll send you a digi shot... of the shell (well maybe more ;) )

But you know what? I WILLl find a shell, call it yours... I'm sure it will tell me. I'll bring it back and set it in the West Quarter...

Symbolically, it will always remind me of you... Funny how connections are made

Wanted to share these with you all

Beauty Surrounds Me
dripping of tears against sun warmed skin
not for pain, but from pleasure within
at a treasured sight that touches all who see
the beauty of the world as she was meant to be
travel with me to a darkened glade
sit with me beneath an oak's cool shade
watch as wolf pups dance along
with small growls and yips, nature's song
look above you into the sky
see the majestic eagle floating by
wings outspread to catch the wind
that is how we should all begin
do not worry about your past
for we are just human and will not last
but this earth, this glade, the sky is real
so sit with me and watch
look within yourself and feel
pagan butterfly...wolf waiting...michele (2002)

Meditation
silent sighs of silver fir
against a baby blue sky
light lilt of red birds
in a meadow flying by
soft "yip" of wolf pups
lone "caw" of a crow
tender touch of father sun
with mother earth below
now is the time for meditation
here is the place for mediation
open your heart to the peace within
then open your eyes to begin, again
poignant prayers to the all father
sent to heaven on gray sage smoke
peace descends upon your brow
as all fears exit, worry is broken
now i sing for mediation
upon this misty morning
now i pray in meditation
for the day which is adjorning

blessings to you all...i am
waiting wolf...pagan butterfly
michele (2002)

Both of these passages were written by me for shamanic journeys..I felt the need to share them with my *pagan* friends here...

blessings unto you all

One of the main reasons I love Alaska so much. the natural sights are so . . . fantastic.

I used to see them in Montana when growing up, then I learned that they originated in the far north. Now, I get to see them often enough to know that they are special each time, no matter the size or shape or color of them. And they do change quite frequently.

oh sure, just rub it in...

especially since i have had to deal with stupid sinus issues all day today.

not once, in the four years that i spent up there did i have a sinus headache. so i'm extra special jealous of you, today in particular!

:p

merry meet, image...
:rose:
(i wish they'd come up with an oak leaf or rowan branch)

I needed gray candles. Think I could find any anywhere? I finally found a liady that makes candles and she made up a box of some for me. for some stange reason, she threw in one that was shaped like a dragon. Hmmmmmm.

Anyway, I now have all the colors of the rainbow and should be covered for the forseeable future as far as candles go. My path is expanding, and I have figured out a way to have rituals at work now too.

I've begun to work on my meditations and my aim is other planes and experiences. I believe that I will concentrate on this aspect for quite some time now. Solitary paths are . . . difficult at times. Hopefully I will keep my path centered.

hmmm, grey candles? I have never had a need...in a pinch, i just use white for whatever color i don't have...since i have always been told it is the all purpose candle...but you would think if you were substituting a candle because you didn't have the correct color you would use black...

Grey is used in my rituals. Black, Grey, yellow, and red. My path is Celtic/Shaman and so far these are all the colors I am aware of that are used on the four parts of the circle. Other colors are used in ritual per whatever you are targeting of course.

I could use the Wicce form of candle colors, as a matter of fact I did for my initiation on Samhain. Not by first choice though. I feel better having the grey now.:)

I was curious about the grey candles... I didn't realize the quarters were what you used them for. Black/Earth/North? Red?South/Fire?
Yellow/Air/East? So is the grey for West/Water?

Glad to be back! Vacation was awesome! Every time I thought it can't get any better... guess what?

But it's great to be back... I haven't been to the rest of the board yet. What have I missed?

I have some beautiful shells for you all and wait till you see the sunrises! I'll post some pictures as soon as I unwind a bit

I'm glad you had a great time Image. Yes to the color directions by the way.

Shells hmmmm? ;)

I leave for work tomorrow. Probably won't be around for some time. Take care, Goddess bless you all too.:)

c2c

i use basically the same colors (native american Shamnaism) only difference is white...i believe. My correlations are:

Black=North
White=South
Red=East
Gray=West

pleased to note i am not the only Shaman floating around in here...

Interesting, Pet... Those color/candle correspondences are ones I'm not familiar with. (I grew up Wiccan :)) But that's also what I want this thread to nurture... DIVERSITY!

I'm working on a Yule/Solstice Ritual to be celebrated next Wednesday, December 10th... Any extra input appreciated :)

Our group is small, about 10 -15... I'll post the entire ritual when it's complete.

Ahhhh... The Infant Sun! The Childe of Promise! The Winterborne King!

Color correspondences...

My colors come from the 4 winds....(both in Gaelic and Native American teachings) ...also the color of the sky at certain times of day...thus red for dawn, white for high noon, grey for twilight and black for midnight. Each directional wind is also called by that color...the difference is basically what one chooses at the time of casting and calling. Personally I usually work with the winds and Great Spirit (and use a Green candle in the center for that).

As for Yule, well my best friend is designing ours...tis her turn...she just calls me in for back up for herb lore and colors. I do know twill be a smaller group than Samhain...but that is all I know!!

May the God/dess keep you warm and safe this coming season..

Pagans!

Merry Meet and all that stuff!

I didn't read the whole thread, but skimmed over it. Interesting.

I am a Trad Wiccan Witch. Was solitary for a LOOOONG time (14 years) and am now becoming part of an Algard teaching coven. I am actually doing my first ritual with them on Yule, and am "acting Priestess" since I'm merely a dedicant (haven't even had my dedication yet...).

Boy we ARE everywhere--I've even found pagans on other forums not related to Paganism.

Anyhow, just thought I'd pop my head up and say "hi". :D

Wiccan

I knew this Wiccan girl in college. I was a christian then and thought it was all satanic, and so was scared of her!

Now I would love to find a laid back religeon that honors nature, sex, human kindness, sex, art, love, earth, did I mention sex?

I know nada about Wicca or Paganism. I think native Indian ideas are cool too, but I only know tidbits.

Hi dragonhearted!

Ed: it's not ALL about sex. Sex is a part (especially at Beltaine), but Wicca is more about BALANCE (ie. male/female, day/night, light/dark, etc), and the natural rhythms, as well as ceremony and ritual (Trad Wicca, anyways--as opposed to the "new age" Wicca of SRW and Cunningham). Just take a look around the internet, and check out Why Wiccans Suck (just look it up on Google.ca), for more about Wicca. :D

re: Enodia

Thanks!

I was mostly talking about what I think would be cool if we were designing a religeon from the ground up.

:) :)

hmm, actually, i happen to think that sex is a huge part of wicca...we all follow different paths and one that i try to honor in mine is sex...it is a driving human force, it is obviously powerful...it can cement a bond between two people, it can also cause people to do crazy things...there is power in sex, in all aspects of ourselves relating to sex, and being a scorpio, i really connect with the chaotic energy from it...

hey i got sent here from my pagan post :D

are there any pagans in birmingham(uk) , especially ones who know of moots cos id quite like to go to one and id like to know what theyre like. also im north east of london when im not at uni so if anyones from there thatd be cool

My point is, that in Wicca it is NOT the only aspect we honour. A joke is (generally in the Trad Coven community) when someone asks about orgies, the reply is:

"Orgies? I wasn't told about any orgies when I signed up! I wanna speak to the manager!"

Lame yes, but also true.

Sex IS important (for without female, there would be no male--without the female to direct the power, there would be no point in a male raising power--two made one, blah blah blah)--but NOT a "driving force". The great rite is often symbolic now, rather than physical.

and about the "own paths"--um, Wicca is Wicca. It has certain guidelines. But, of course, that starts the "new guard vs old guard" argument.

just my two cents.

There are several pagan's at Lit from the UK. If you look back through the thread, you might be able to see their posts.

Try sending a pm introducing yourself and ask them for info. The ones that I have come across, are very helpful. I'm sure if they knew the info you're looking for they would be more than happy to share it with you.

btw

Merry Meet, and all that. :)

wait, sex isn't a driving force? I don't know how it isn't, i mean, for the majority of the population, it is their number one priority...(lol)...but really, birth, death, and in between....sex...

Wicca may be Wicca, there may be basic guildlines, but we all follow our own path, i worship gods that perhaps you don't, i follow certian rules that perhaps you don't, you may use tools that i don't, you may feel you get better results by using herbs, while i feel i don't, so i may use stones...and as another part of that, i may find sex to be a driving force of energy that affects most of our lives...you may not...thats what i was trying to say...

Merry Meet Sashan, I just noticed your query and wanted to direct you to a wonderful pagan networking site

http://www.witchvox.com

I have been a member for years and found some pretty great people in my travels around the world! I noticed quite a few people/groups in your area in a quick search:

http://www.witchvox.com/vn/gr/ukgb2_gra.html

That one is specific to Britain but obviously it is Witches Around the World, so we are everywhere! :)

Solstice is around the corner, blessed is the return of the Light...

Drink Deep, Pagan Lit'sters!

Wicca may be Wicca...:D Wicca IS Wicca. It is very specific with rules (161 Laws ring a bell? The Wiccan Rede? The Love of Love, Love by Will?), very specific in practice (albeit, various covens observe different pantheons), and very specific in teachings.

Of course I'm talking about "real" Wicca--Traditional Wicca. Remember that Gardner guy? You know him--the one who "invented" Wicca? :D He made specific rules.

The "problem" with Wicca these days, is that people use it as a euphemism for Paganism, when in actuality they are not one in the same. As one Gardnerian said--Scott Cunningham is the best thing and worst thing to happen to Wicca. He made it more widely accepted, but also watered it down and totally destroyed the Tradition of it (think of it as a Christian not believing in Jesus as their saviour).

Of course, that's just my opinion. Again, it's the old guard vs. new guard argument. Check out Mike Nichols' webpage (just type "Mike Nichols" into google) to see more about this. Or check out "Why Wicca Sucks" (another excellent site).

:D
