You know, this forum gets better and better, eroticism and Pagans :)

I have been studying the Occult for about 7 years now, and have branched into many areas. I love discussing the Occult, and look forward to any topics that arise :)

HEY PAGANS!

Have you ever watched a movie called ''Equinox''?

It's brilliant. I love it.

Morning Mystic ,
Morning all...

That is a really good link. Circle sanctuary is one of the oldest and most reputable resources I know of...

The essay got me thinking... Question

From a polytheistic viewpoint, I hold to the belief that all gods/goddesses are one God/Goddess. Depending on the season, the celebration, the purpose, etc., I use whichever deity is best qualified to acheive the desired results.

But, do you indentify more with one pantheon than another? Do you mix it up a lot? On a general basis what G/G calls most to you?

I have to go with Pan. His sexual nature is irresistable and the forest is my home....
And Gaia. She manifests in everything Earthy and so is always near...

The Circle Sanctuary has some great gatherings and workshops! I love living in Wisconsin! :D

I also believe that all God/Goddesses are one God/Goddess and I use the name of which ever Diety best suits my spell, ritual or rite. Although I seem to have three Gods and three Goddesses that I envoke most. (I tend to lean twords Irish and Scottish God/esses)

Gods:
Dioncecht - (Irish) A God associated with healing and mending of physical ills.

DAGDA - (Irish) Earth and father god. Dagda possesses a bottomless cauldron of plenty.

Oghma - (Irish) A warrior God who is closely connected to knowledge, magick, and eloquence, language and genius.

Goddesses:
Etain - (Irish) A Celtic moon godess from Ireland, her name means "shinning one." She is a symbol of fertility and the vitality & life of growing things. (I think what I personally like best about Etain is that she reminds us that we can shine no matter the circumstances surrounding us.)

Brigit - (Irish and British.) A triplicity of Goddesses associated with Fire and smithcraft, with poetry, and with motherhood and childbirth.

DANU - (Irish/Celtic) Mother goddess, an aspect of the Great Mother.

Mystic

Have you ever visited Circle Sanctuary? Or been to any gatherings there? How great for you! I have subscribed to the magazine since 1991 so am familiar with the events that take place there! I've always wanted to attend PSG at Wisteria...

Do you practice as a solitary?

Do you practice as a solitary?

Yes, I've been to Circle Sanctuary. A couple years ago I went to a Beltane Festival for my birthday. (I'm a Beltane baby, born on May 1st.) ;) It was great! Lots of music, pot luck dinners, nature walks, etc. We even learned to weave a May basket, lol. I think my favorite and most memorable event was the celebration of the fertility of spring with maypole dancing. :)

I've not yet been to a PSG in Wisteria yet, hopefully next June. <crossing fingers> If they were held at C.S., you could bet I'd be there every year! :D

I've been a solitary practitioner for a little over 10 years now. I have several friends who are coven members, and I've visited a few of their gatherings/rituals, and although I enjoyed the learning experience, I still prefer solitary Wicca. I guess I just don't like the idea of anyone telling me that things "have" to be done "this way" or "that way". I prefer keeping an open mind, being myself and just living my life by the rede and the laws of 3.

Interesting

I'm sure Circle puts on some really wonderful gatherings. I have been to several hosted by Serpentstone. They are an eclectic mix of several paths, not just Wicce. Pretty large membership in the south here...

I also choose to be solitaire. Where I came from there was a large community and I studied and celebrated with a coven for several years. Due to an 800 mile move 8 years ago, I don't have that community anymore, though the few of us that know each other here do get together for holidays. I miss it sometimes...

I understand what you are saying about covens. There is a hierarchy of sorts and even though there is not supposed to be strict dogma, it is enough, for the free spirit in me, to reject. Traditionalists may disagree with this POV. I understand their side too. And they, on the other hand, may disregard my style, fearing a muddling. Or fluff...

Hey, we're close in birthdays! I'm May 3rd!

Witch?

Yes, I am a witch. I've stood before
The Lord of Death and found Him not unkind.
I've practiced well the secret, hidden lore
The words of power and the spells that bind
And loosen; culled from nature's trove
The herbs that heal - But most of all have I
Danced naked, free and proud beneath the sky
Unto the Goddess, She who shines above

Witch?

Yes, I am a witch for I am free
From the hope of Heaven and the fear of Hell.
No solemn veil of tears is this to me.
Earth is my cup of joy. I love Her well.
Seek not to turn me from my destined fate.
Earth is enough for me, and if I burn
I shall not leave Her but to Earth return
To live again a witch - Re-in-carnate.

For 'tis our promise and our firm belief
That She who loves us brings us back again
As seeds once buried rise again in leaf,
Stem, branch and blossom in the summer rain. And are we less than seeds?
But should it be that one life only was our metered span
And power comes but once to any man
I will live it lustfully, joyfully and free
And be a Witch!

Ostara Greetings to my Pagan friends...

We had a wonderful celebration this past Saturday evening...
I called the North Quarter and played the Winter, yielding to the winds of Spring... This is an excerpt of a prose I wrote for my role and a gift to whoever reads this...

I am Winter
I am speaking
It seems long that I have held the Earth in my grasp,
A time to rest...
Yet my desire remains evergreen...

I am North
I am speaking
It is my direction in which the labyrinthe lays
That unicursal path,
where we journey to the most sacred spaces within ourselves and back,
reborn to the freshness of the East
My mind is harder than stone in retaining an image of stone,
yet I yield to the winds of Spring

I am Earth
I am speaking
I have nestled the seeds of your dreams, close and warm, to my breast
Can you not already see the swelling of the buds?
The blood and the sap, rising to the skies...
My flowers plan their escape...
Nature spirits are gently awakening from their frozen dreams...
They are lively and ready to dance!
Who sings to awaken them?
Who plays the music for their dance?

I am the Crone
I am speaking
Honor me... For this is my promise
The cycle of life continues
No Winter lingers forever
And no Spring fails to return
The joys of light cannot be appreciated without the contemplation of dark
In the fading night of Winter, I am reborn!
I release my spell of Winter to the warmth and blossom of Spring, to sing and dance again!

World full of stillness...
World ever waiting...

Brightest Blessings to the Pagan community at Lit. May the winds of Spring always blow gently through your life...

Hello all!

As a newcomer to Paganism/Wicca, I'm glad to find others you are so knowledgeable. Any advice to help me on my path would be greatly appreciated.

Charmed1
There are many paths. As many as you can imagine. My suggestion to you is to read. Read everything you can find.

Thanks Rhys

I have been reading and researching alot lately. There is so much information out there. I live in a small southern town that frowns on any religion or person that is not what they consider "mainstream". Finding others to talk to or learn from has been difficult. Thank you so much for your advice. I will continue to read, reasearch and learn.

I lived in a large southern city for a while and know that its not easy to find religious tolerance. Amazon.com is a good resource as a lot of the pagan's web rings. Llewelyn Publishing is also a good source of information on the web.

Bright blessings to you.

I

am

curious.

Never having been around paganism (correct?) Sounds like what I think about at times though.

so check out those sites Curious...

if nothing else it will be an education in comparative religion

I am and will be checking them out. My curiousity is aroused now and I will dig pretty deep. Thanks:)

yeah if you need any help you two, you can always pm me. I am pretty sure the others won't mind either...

Thanks Rhys, I will probably take you up on that at a future date. I need to learn some about what I have been pointed to...but I know there will be questions.:D
