don't we all?

we have like minds.

many seek much that they will never have.

thus they can and are never happy.

the Air, and some fresh straw is all I need.

and the occasional.. romp, and drunk.

I keep your kisses for me.
you know

She is close

always close

though you draw away...

always, near to your heart.

near, yes, draw away not.. Ponder I always ponder things.

seek answers I say... answers sometimes are there, but not known?

but I still want your kisses.

to keep with me.

You have but to seek

within your
heart for the answers

or from those you love...

seek

and the kisses are there waiting as always

Hello Image, I'm glad to see this forum is still going strong. I've gotten subscriptions every week a post was made and it was this board in particular that brought me back to Lit.

I know it has been a rather long time since I was here and posted anything. In the way of being Pagan, nothing much has changed since last time I wrote, I just like to think I'm a little more experienced now that I've had some events happen in my life.

I was a member of Pagans And Wiccans of Wisconsin Society(PAWWS for short) for a little while but that organization has all but folded in on itself. The walls of my living quarters are now so close together I cannot properly setup an alter for myself. I almost have to settle for a digital one on my computer. Does anybody know if that'd work as well or not? I don't know, I've been thinking about it. I can burn incense and light candles in various locations around my monitor. It just wouldn't be the same, overall.

As always, I'm open to suggestions.

Welcome back, Spelcaster )0(

And Happy Ostara to everyone!

To answer your question about altar space... In my opinion, it's all about intent and personal space, not about how ornate one can get. It can be as large or as small as space permits, elaborate or as simple as you can afford, the priciple remains the same.

I have a space in my woods, a circle made over a 10 year period, with fallen branches and felled trees, a fire pit in the middle, quarters marked and a large altar so I can get as whimsical as I want; And the circle itself can accomodate probably 20 people comfortably, including dancing :) Yet, since it is a hike to get to it, it's not practical for everyday use...

My home is very, very small though so my altar is limited there but it's more accessible... Though I do believe certain items are necessary when working and it always helps to create focus, the only true item is energy. So in that respect, no room is needed at all...

If your only space is around the monitor, go for what you can! I've also seen "Virtual Altars" where it's totally on the computer. It's not for me but it serves some people well since it's their personal space...

An altar helps to set your focus for rituals, ceremonies and magik workings. This space should be alive and teaming with energy. In other words, don't use it just for decoration or to display decorative items. I have some friends who "Have altar, will travel" and that's kind of fun too :)

If fire hazard is a problem, use representations of the elements. Instead of a yellow candle, say for air, place a feather. Or for Fire, why not just a dragon symbol? Earth? A pinch of salt... The God and Goddess reps could be as simple as tiny statues of the male and female principles...

Anyway, I hope this helps. Remember, it's all about you and your personal relationship with The All...

Here's a pic of my Forest Circle... Just happens to be from Ostara about 5 years ago. Coinkidink :D

What do you think about the exclusion of the computer from the "world", so to speak? Is doing things online less powerful?

The Japanese have an animist belief system where they incorporate everything into their belief system. In the movie "Kairo" (it was re-imagined in the US as "Pulse" in 2006), spirits transmitted themselves only via communications systems.

Computers are, after all, made of silicon, iron and chemicals that come right out of the Earth, and for all intents and purposes are complex mixtures of natural things, like paints and pottery, but infinitely more so.

Am I making sense?

Mornin', LT!

Are you talking about Shintoism in Japan? Never saw the movie you're referring to but that's the most popular belief system over there. It's not a religion but a way of life to them...

In my opinion computers are a great tool if kept in the proper perspective. They bring people together from every corner of the Earth. The stronger the unity, the stronger the magick! It's just a modern day form of communication afterall.

Magick is all in the focus of one's will and intent, no matter the tool. So in that thinking a computer is no less effective or powerful than the person who is using it...

Yes, Shintoism... I didn't know if that word was familiar to anyone. It's the belief system behind the Japanese way of assimilating everything natural and technological into their animist world. It manifests itself in many interesting ways in their psyche. :D

Well thank you very much, Russ...

The images you use are raw and honest. Rather than trying to turn on the reader, you lead him or her to no other possible response

That's quite flattering and I appreciate you taking the time to write :rose:

was just surfing threads....

I was just surfing the threads and I found this to be of interest. I was raised in a catholic household, went to catholic grammar school and high school (for one year...until I got myself kicked out on purpose). I never felt comfortable with the religion. To this day, I haven't found a religion that I do feel comfortable with. I guess that's why I look at them all and take what best fits me. Wicca is so hard to find information on, and I'm not the kind to just float into a bookstore and just delve in at the first thing that strikes me. It IS so unfortunate, though, that Wicca (and associated "religions") get labeled as devil worship. Ya know what I mean....worship the devil, go out and kill your mother, father siblings and then go sacrifice a goat on some altar in. That characterization (and the catholic religion) always DID make me laugh.
From what I've seen on the thread (and I haven't been all that thorough...It IS VERY late) I can see a very ummm, well a different side to what's generally out there. I mean I knew SOME of the precepts of Wicca (I say Wicca for lack of a better term that I know of) but I can see a whole new area of the pagan world out there.
Thanks for listening to my "rant". Be well everyone (almost said "Live long and prosper" LMAO)
