Ok, I don't know what they did to WinMx with release 3.3, but the downloads for files I could PRODUCE a song or video faster!

I've been looking around (zeropaid.com, etc), and it seems that KaZaa Lite and Ares are the favorites. Anyone have any experience with these or others?

Imesh also seemed popular, but I've been reading that uninstalling it is damn near impossible...

I've used them all and found that kazaa produces the most matches and the best download speeds. When bearshare or limewire gives me like 2 or 3 matches, kazaa gives about 20-100 depending.

I havent tried kazaalite and still use the pop up loaded version...it works for me.

I use bearshare, but I generally aint using it for music.

I have imesh, but it doesnt seem to have the programs I want.

Bearshare is my favorite, and if you get rid of the spyware it has,it still runs.

I do know that Kazaa and KazaaLite are both loaded with spyware and adware. They're the prime reason people end up with pop up windows when they surf Lit.

I have kazaa but never have gotten a pop up from Lit

I'll get around eventually to edit my registry...

Friends use SoulSeek and are happy with it. I believe SoulSeek started as a trading platform for mostly techno, electronic, and club type music but I know there is more available there. SoulSeek also emphasizes complete albums over singles.

At this point I don't think there is an all-in-one app out there. You'll need to run several sharing programs to get speed, variety, and reliability out of P2P.

Ad-Aware from lavasoft has a shareware version and will rid your system of spyware.
Panic-ware has a very effective pop-up stopper.

WinMX was great when it first came out, but now it sucks. Plenty of hits, but none are available.
