Oxymorons

smart blonde...just kidding
by-partisan reporter
honest politician

Oxymorons:
Tears of Joy
Solemn Celebration
Icy Hot

Occasional Oxymorons:
Customer Service
College Education

Redundancies:
Frat Party
Crazy Aunt ;)
Road Rage (at least for some people)

Intelligent Male? haha real funny ;)

Battle Of The Sexes is another good one too. Neither gender is truly better than the other. At some things yes. Not all.

I work with computer engineers who like to use two oxymorons all the time:

user-friendly software
intuitive software

Usually in reference to software that they developed, that is accompanied by an 800-page user manual.

Once worked with a guy who said that a user manual isn't finished until it weighs as much as the product it describes. And he used to write instruction manuals for battleships!

Politically correct
Naval Action (running down to the mess for coffee does NOT constitute action)

How about Faithful Wife. Got you good didn't I?

Nope. It would be equally true if turned around. Faithful husband? Ha! The battle of the sexes rages on, but it's a fun one, as far as battles go...

Now that's not very nice Ambro. <pout> What if I said, smart men??

I guess mine would have to be:
Hot cold cuts<subway does them>
Sweet tarts <teehee, ok, so I'm a little hungry>
Child Proof caps <yeah right, I only wish>

on a side note....

The German word that seemingly is abbreviated would be "Zertifikat" (which is "certificate" in the translation). There are more words it could relate to, like "zertifizieren" (to certify) or "zertifiziert" (certified).

I never heard the abbreviation being used in the German language though *shruggs shoulders*, so I might be on a completely wrong trip here.

Seeing it was mentione above in the technical field context seems pretty accurate, since here in Germany you need a "Zertifikat" for pretty much everything.

On a funny side note though - I hardly ever find the word "Zertifikat" anymore, almost everywhere we now have "certificates". Just strikes me funny to see someone asks for a German based abbreviation while we instead are swapping to the english term
