I'm lucky enough that in the warmer months when I sleep with the window open above me...I can hear this owl (barred owl) calling from across the field. I've come to expect him nearly every night. While one of the smaller owls they are said to be perhaps the most vicious.

THeir call sounds something like: "Whooooo....who..whoooo..cooks for youuuuu"
