I just ordered a new book "Overcoming Obamacare" after reading an excerpt online.
Interesting book about the three different factions of conservatives and how each of them has a specific grievance against Obamacare. More than a bit wonkish.
One interesting argument concerns the portion of the law that limits premiums for the oldest Americans (54-65) to be no more than three times the premium offered to the youngest, healthiest Americans (18-32).
This has the net effect of making healthcare more expensive for young folks. The conservatives argue that there should be six-tiers, meaning premiums should be six times more expensive for the older 54-65 demographic than the youngest.
In theory, younger folks would flock to the new cheaper rates, but at the expense of older, sicker Americans who would likely need insurance more. It's a difficult choice, but Democrats opted to go with the three-tier option.
