What can be said about incest stories that are over-the-top? There is a lot of them. Hell, that's all I make, and some people hate them and some people like them. However, no one has done a better job of making fun of them then a recent post on chyoo called, "Abruptly wanting incest!" by ClockworkBanana.

As I read it, I couldn't help but laugh out loud. All the while witnessing the typical cliches that are in the stories I wrote and others similar to them. Personally I am a breast man. I have always loved big tits, especially the big fake ones you see on strippers or pornstars. A retired stripper named Pandora Peaks, who was popular in the 1990's, is one of my muses. And when designing women in my stories I usually use her body type or even bigger. Yep, it's way overboard and unrealistic, but that's part of the fantasy for me. I like taking beautiful women and giving them the kind of tit's and ass you would see in a pornographic comic book more than you would in reality.

And any woman who get's offended by a bullshit fantasy like that needs to see a shrink and work on her insecurity. And any guy who reads something that he doesn't like can always stop reading it and move on. If someone else writes about something that I don't like, I don't send hate mail or angry posts on a forum like this. I just stop reading it...

The point is that some things are over-the-top and that's the fun of it. It's not for everyone, but then again no one is pointing a gun to head of those who don't enjoy it. However as one of the many authors who are guilty of such over-the-top stories, I want to say that I can take a joke and I really liked "Abruptly wanting incest!" If anyone wants a good laugh I strongly suggest it.

As anyone who has read some of my threads can attest, I'm a fan of the incest genre as well. I liked the "Abrubtly wanting incest" story as well, although as someone somewhere pointed out before, they've encapsulated the genre so well that there isn't really much more that can be addex to it.

For what it's worth, I'm not a big fan of what I think of the "romp" style of story, where people have incest for no good reason. There's generally a reason each woman has for what they are doing, even if some excuses are better than others. I'm also a fan of the entire "we shouldn't do this, because it's wrong" element in the stories, which again probably won't surprise anyone that's read my threads.

I seem to be in the minority in that I generally do not like big breasts. The Maggie character I created for Knocked Up Notions has a big chest by virtue of my comically poor understanding of cup sizes, and my misremembering the (non-porn) actress the character was very loosely based on.

I agree with your points entirely. Except for the big boob fetish, but that's a trivial difference that is a matter of taste and not quality. So in other words, to each their own.

But when I think about it, the mockery that is made of such cliches in "Abruptly wanting incest" makes me think that I need a new approach to my creativity. For example; dad takes a business trip and goes out of town. How many times have we heard that one? Or the mediocre resistance to crossing into the taboo between family members. Or the setup of the scenario is rushed because we feel like we are depriving our audience of the sex scenes. So to make up for it, I sometimes try to catch up so my audience doesn't get bored. These traps are abundant and easy to fall into. Lately I have been having more of a personal interest in mind control. Again another genre that some people hate and some people like. What makes this decision even tougher is a fan of mine told me that he didn't like it. That irritated me because I was excited about it, and here, a member of my audience isn't to thrilled. I am not mad at him, quite the contrary. I'm just annoyed because I feel like I am running out of angles. I too hate the "romp" style story, yet I also like the "we shouldn't do this, because it's wrong" element. But I got to cross borders into new territory, I got to. Because you can only recycle the same old story until it becomes dull and not fun to write.

My stories (Zack and Big Melon Valley) will continue the same path (gradually) as they started on. But now I think, once those are done, I will need to be more inventive and original. Which in a way is kind of exciting for it challenges my imagination.

Mind Control, as you said, tends to be something that people either love or hate. Personally, I don't care for it much, as it seems to turn into "Boy meets girl, Boy mind-controls girl, boy gets girl. Perhaps I've just encountered a certain subset of these games, although I did play several at the Hypnotics Collective or whatever it's called, which all seemed to have the same general idea outlined above. I know a lot of people love that kind of thing, although for me it's kind of like using a cheat code in a video game to get past the hard part. It also often seems to change the personality of the girl. I'm not opposed to characters evolving during the story; quite the opposite. I want their changes to ultimately come from within though, even if the PC does have some influence on it. Perhaps I just need to find the right MC game to change my mind on the genre, although I suspect it would have to be one that wasn't your stereotypical MC story.

Then again, I'm into genres that other people would find equally as unappealing, such as incest or reluctance themes. A lot of that stuff is horribly written, including, in some cases, some of my contributions to it. Not always in terms of grammar or spelling, although there is that. But also in terms of falling into overused tropes, or unrealistic dialog.

As I write more and more, I find myself straying into areas that haven't particularly interested me in the past, just because I needed to write something new in order to add new life to what I was writing. For example, I don't really find the idea of group sex to be all that fun. I didn't plan on writing any such scenes in any stories I've contributed to so far. But you can only write about sex with X character to many times, and with Y character so many times, before you finally decide to write about sex with X AND Y together just because it's something new to write about. Another way I end up writing about things that don't particularly interest me is if the story seems to be heading in a way that makes that outcome likely. If it makes sense for the characters to do something, or at least for the reader to have the alternative to do that something, then that's an incentive to write it. And I actually do have two ideas for AIF games or Chyoo-type stories that would involve MC elements, although to a very small degree. Although they'd likely never see the light of day.

Firstly, Pandora Peaks is one of my muses as well, such a shame she did not do more videos as she is a godess.
Secondly, I like OTT incest stories, especially ones involving whole families and extended families. Its a fun fantasy

As for mind control, I suppose I'm a fan but I agree that it can become a bit samey. I much prefer power games, reluctance, dominance and the like. There's a great (and underdeveloped) story in which a woman becomes the toy of a deranged scientist who has complete control over the physical appearance of an unsuspecting woman - he can remotely enlarge her tits, or shrink her skirt, for example. The thing that made it interesting for me was that it stood apart from other stories because the guy had complete physical control but she retained control of her internal world. It seemed to leave a lot more in terms of plot directions - would she succumb or rebel? Would she learn the identity of this mysterious scientist? Would she tell others what was happening to her?

I think that was very cleverly done for an over-the-top story and well worth a read. I forget what it's called and CHYOO seems to be down at the moment so I can't look it up

Yes, the forbidden fruit part of it makes it exciting. At the same time, it's escapist, in that it's not something that most people would do in real life. If I ever write or read something in that genre that strikes too close to my real life, then a bit of squick factor sets in.

And like Gizmodo, I'm a fan the powergames, reluctance, and the like, although they generally turn into full cooperation belong long. Although "before long" is a bit inaccurate, since any one here that may have read some of my stuff know that some (most) of my threads can drag on for quite some time, and take a while for things to happen. But that's the way I tend to like it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "over the top." For me, however, the closer a real-world story comes to convincing me it's "realistic" (i.e., COULD happen) the more erotic it is. What kind of annoys me - and I hope this isn't what you're advocating - is the frequent cliché of siblings getting to the sex within a paragraph or two of easily recognizing and acting on mutual attraction.
My fvourite recent story - wish I could remember the title & author! - had a fairly convincing, to *me* very hot, build-up and first several sex scenes, got into what I would call pretty over-to-top territory branching out into prostitution & sex w/friends and parents, still damned erotic - and then lost it in a dumb giant orgy "climax" with everyone fucking everyone.

For me incest is one of the many kinks i carry, and it's one that builds on something impossible. I'm a long time reader of both literotica and chyoo and in the end i fell to the idea of adding my own stories as well. Would be natural that i add too many in my first attemtp, right? Still have no idea how to adress that final step of posible incest with a good feel to the story throughout. Incest in it's romanticised setting is generally the idea where love conquers ethical, moral and socal rules to just excist conrary to those rules, and is often just as effective with non blood relatives as these are seen as borderline cases. Most often the story can hold it's original peak and interest and never cross the border of blood relation, depending on the writing and the story's progression.

OTT incest is just that, over the top. It's like a satire on the subject and you feel it ends in a porno movie plot-line, where the reason dont matter and the sex, however forbidden, is the only thing that matters. and since people still find that kind of entertainment a joyful one, i see no reason to nag at OTT being necessarily bad. it's just entertainment, albeit a shallow one.

Over the top? What do I mean by that? It means what it means. Ridiculously exaggerated. Perhaps my story lines aren't so crazy, but they are unrealistic. However I try to walk the fine line of "fuck me now" and some actual build up. I admit I could have done a better job of it in retrospect, but it's something to fap too, not something to ponder intellectually. Another thing that is exaggerated is breast size and shape. I know there are women out their with some big ones, but like I said my muse is Pandora Peaks. To give you and idea of body type and boob size. Google her. For some readers that is "over the top", but I don't care I like it, and I write for myself more so then other people. So if people like it, great, if not I would rather they move on, because I am not gonna change!!

for over the top, and in this case reactions and feedback, you can't beat Loving Wives readers. however, as for incest, it's tricky getting a piece believable. it takes suspension of belief and a slow build-up in the narrative to get to the point where the characters remain believable; even more so in the case of multiple characters being involved.

still, it's a popular category here on lit. probably the most read if views and votes are any indication across he categories.

I agree with this. Yet erotica is a genre that actually holds up well as an escapist genre. I enjoy erotica that is character driven. A plot is a wonderful bonus. However, there are quite a few "over the top" works that I enjoy. Escapism allows for self-insertion. It allows us to bone the freakishly busty babes and to have penises that never tire. That is why "over the top" erotica tends to sell and/or do well.

As far as in incest goes, I think it is generally over the top on purpose. It's role isn't escapist to allow for self insertion, per se. Rather, it tends to be over the top precisely because it is something that the authors would not have a desire to do in reality. This also applies to some of the other controversial elements found in erotica such as rape or gore.

I am a strange, specific person when it comes to Incest stories. I only like it as a sub-genre within Mind Control or other similar "non-violent rape" fantasies. I know describing Mind Control stories as a "non-violent rape" fantasy is a little odd, but it perfectly describes my fetish. I enjoy "completely invisible" fantasies (preferably ones where they're completely invisible, almost like the MC's presence is ignored no matter what depraved things they do while everyone is unaware and acting casual), "mind control" (as in forcing whatever woman in the story to bend to the controller's will), and situations where sex is considered completely, utterly normal when it's really not (this is where I think my Incest kink starts to come into play). I also like time-stop or girls being frozen or otherwise being made unaware. I also have a slight kink toward women being screwed while they're asleep. It's the unaware element that gets me going, really. So if a story combines all of these fetishes together, that's when I have cracked the jackpot.

However:

1. I dislike the Incest genre on its lonesome. It does nothing for me. I have really enjoyed Mind Control/Incest stories beforehand, so I read a story where Incest was a main focus; it did absolutely nothing for me, especially as the MC romanced his sister with a beautiful candlelit dinner.

2. I get turned off by stories where the MC's sister or mother secretly lusts for the MC.

It makes me think: "You've ruined the character for me." Which is completely unfair to the author, but it's about personal preferences, I guess. I like the family setting to be perfectly normal and nonsexual until the supernatural element comes into play. Then, I want the MC to sink into depravity as they take advantage of their "new world of opportunity," even dropping so far as to get frisky with family members, best friends, nuns, nurses, and school teachers.

This makes me pretty weird, but I am okay with my weirdness.

I'm into the same unaware/nonviolent noncon themes, and I think they're moderately popular but not well-known because people in general don't think so much about their interests or write about them online.

My interest in "unaware" also extends to things like trickery and betrayal - where a woman's birth control is sabotaged or someone is setting her up for something she doesn't want (cam exposure, sex, impregnation, abduction, etc). It's hottest for me if another woman is involved in - and gets off on - the setting up of another.

Come to think of it, I know some women who like stories that involve women betraying each other, but I don't recall any of them specifically saying that it's the woman betraying another that's hot. I'll have to ask.

I like this genre as well. Something about it seems far less brutal than a lot of other approaches.

But I admit I'm also interested in the plain incest variety as well. Mostly the brother-sister, father-daughter angle. Part of that comes out in my story, "Life of Temptation." Not that I would ever engage or even could in such activity. But it is a good way to get a frustration or two out there without any harm. I could do to contribute to other stories more often, I tried forcing it once and I wasn't very happy with the result. But I've also been looking to work on a Mind/Reality Control story as well. Let's just hope Chyoo comes back online soon!
