I just finished another research memo, so I took a brain break by surfing OpinionPlace and CNN. It appears that I am slipping further away from any prime marketable demographic. OpinionPlace had no surveys for which I qualified (I was trying to earn AA miles). CNN reported the top ten shows on TV last week, and I hadn't seen any of them. In fact, I have never seen several of them, and I didn't even know some were actual TV programs. I feel like my individuality has been affirmed. :)

What an interesting list. Can you still access it easily? Will you post it? I'd like to see if i'm an individual, too, and what better measuring stick than CNN most-watched-TV-shows standard?

Hmmm. I was in Canada all last week, some of the time without TV (or net access - ~gasp~) at all; i suppose my last week wouldn't count. Have to be the week before, i guess.

Bring it on!

I don't know if this is similar to week's past, but here's the one from July 9-15 (Source: Nielsen Media Research):

1. Major League All-Star Game, (Thursday) FOX, 11.0
2. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, (Tuesday) ABC, 9.1
3. Primetime Thursday, (Sunday) ABC, 9.0
4. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, (Sunday) ABC, 8.8
5. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" (Thursday) ABC, 8.6
6. Dateline NBC NBC, 8.5
7. Everybody Loves Raymond CBS, 8.3
8. 20/20, (Friday) (tied) ABC, 8.2
8. Weakest Link, (tied) NBC, 8.2
9. 60 Minutes CBS, 8.1

For the record, I have never seen 1-7 or 8b. I have never heard of 3. I have not seen 8a or 9 since I was living with my parents.

I guess I make an lousy democrat cause I don't watch any of those and wouldn't watch any of those

Yes - but where do you stand in relationship to bell peppers?

Never seen:
1, 3, 7

Seen only once or twice:
2,4,5,6
(Aren't 2,4,5 the same thing?????)

Watch occasionally:
6-9
(excluding 7, of course)

Watch pretty damn frequently, though not all the time:
8b
(The woman who runs the game is *such* an incredibly wild bitch - you gotta go see her - plus i can answer alot of the questions so this game makes me feel smart .. ~g~)

Am i "normal"? (Oh the gods forbid!)
Has my individuality been affirmed?

What on earth does this have to do with politics? Nielson ratings are not politically inspired. Just because CNN posted their numbers does not mean it was tainted with some horrid leftist view.

And if you really want to know, your precious faux wrestling shows are widely watched by Democrats and Republicans alike. It also holds the prestigious spot as the show that attracts the poorest demographic.

I adore bell peppers!! All colors, but especially yellow. I consider them one of the Happy Vegetables. Crunchy, vivid colors, great shape - they have it all. They simply command attention in whatever dish they grace.

I despise bell peppers. They're pretty and crunchy and colorful but they taste like old farts smell and i pick 'em out of everything that i'm going to eat and disinclude them in everything i cook. They just plain *ruin* stuff like egg salad and tuna salad and chicken salad.

Now peas - yum. Edible pod peas, snow peas, plain old inedible pod peas... i'll add those to everything and beam happily at the addition of flavor and color and sweet texture they impart.

Mischka - its a very happy vegetable indeed!

cymbidia - its nice to see you posting regularly on the general board again - even if you don't like bell peppers! *lol*

So what do you all think of Dill Pickles?

I've been on vacation, Dill. Thanks.

Dill pickles are cool but not those huge dildo-looking things, only the baby kosher dills. Like peas, they're good in egg salad and tuna salad and chicken salad.

You're not playing with Dill Pickles are you, Dill?
The vinegar can make one all puckery.
That's no good during playtime...

Way Outside

I'm so far outside the curve I don't even own a TV set, pretty much just to avoid shows like those on the aforementioned list.

cymbidia, I'd have to say egg salad and tuna salad taste more like old farts than bell peppers. Just my opinion :)

I'm not sure who's worse off...you for not qualifying...

or me for qualifying :(

There goes my cutting edge reputation! I guess I'll just have to start writing stories centered around suburbia.

Oh wait...I already do!
