Sorry Lukky, I think they (WalMart) made the right call here.
Barritt cost them alot when it comes to public relations.
And at Christmastime no less.

Hopefully, things will look up for him in the new year.

I worked for this rathole of a company, I'm not surprised.

and *bump*

Oh wait; you mean that Wal-Mart has less-than-intelligent emplyees supported by less-than-intelligent customers?

Some of us don't shop there.

Haven't set foot in one in over five years.

Its unfortuante that they even exist near me. The northeast was the last bastion free of Wal-Mart and Vermont was the sheltered little area within that. But they are here now. They just dont get my money.

I'm not mad at WalMart, big corporations always have idiots at almost every level. I just want them to do something positive about this. I don't care if you shop there or not. I presume public pressure will insure they make some sort of restitution to the Toys for Tots program, CNN has the story it's not going to fade into oblivion.

I don't want them to ruin the fool or his Holidays, just remove him from a level he's obviously not qualified to handle.

I'm hopeful that the outcry will mean that there will be MORE happiness at the holidays than there was going to be. What more is there to wish for?

It's like admitting you read The Enquirer.......
Entering the thread is like standing in the checkout line. Toys for tots is a worthy cause, and in this case nobody needs to know you even read the headlines of the Enquirer.

"Since store officials didn't know if the gifts had been bought or not -- and no video camera was trained on the box -- Barritt said he decided to place all the toys back on the shelves for resale. "

OMG.....how incredibly stupid. Didn't he have some real "work" to do around the store? I won't rant here, but will in the email I've started in another window. Here's your "bump," LK.

You've gotta be kidding me..

Stupid people who have no clue working at a WalMart?? Shit next thing you'll tell me is that NBA players do drugs.

I understand your incredulity, laced with sarcasm though it is. The point is not how stupid this one individual was, but how many children will be either 1) sadder, or 2) happier than they would otherwise be on Christmas based on how WalMart responds.

It's easy to miss the point. The victims are not the folks at Toys for Tots, and by no means should the poor fool who fucked up become one. WalMart can put him in a position more suited to his judgement readily. What, though, will they do about the children? Toys for Tots isn't about giving another toy to a kid who has enough, ya know? Too many children get nothing at all, and become bent and scarred and develop a loathing for this holiday. One man's actions tend to break more hearts in this case, but his employer and either be assinine or heroic in the remaining time.

Write.

It's easy.

You do it here all the time.

true spirit of the holiday season

Lukky,

Thanks for caring enough about children to post this and encourage others to take a stand too.

:rose:

Nobody has a right to steal a childhood.
One man's mistake should not destroy a child's dreams.

The sad thing is this jerk will probably get a promotion.

I wrote.

I told them how they could reverse the public relations problem by donating matching toys from their shelves until the box is full whenever somebody checks out, how that would make great TV, great display of their goods, etc.

Thanks, patient1.

How they react will not be a factor so much of the suggestions as the amount of notice they believe they are getting. If it looks like a PR nightmare, as it should, then they will be goaded into doing something philanthropic, perhaps.

I did not like his statement to the press. Of course it was probably all chopped up and destroyed. I did e-mail them and encourge them to make a greater contrubution than 1,000.00 though.

I can't imagine anything WalMart could do that would be worse.
They picked their customers pockets, because they re-sold the customer's purchases. 100% profit! Crime pays.

Then, they insulted the integrity of their customers by assuming all of the toys were stollen from their shelves.

I guess a thief tends to think that everybody else thinks like them.
