I think it could be funny, interesting title. Is someone too old for romance (they think)? Did they just leave the closet and have no idea how to same-sex date? Is there a "competitive dating" (datemaxxing?) culture, where "outdating" someone means getting more/better dates?

What clever/funny double meaning am I missing?

Could we cross the three streams above?

Marge had been divorced for a year now. Her ex burned her on his way out the door and into the arms of his new young thing, telling Marge she was no longer sexy, nor lovable. And sadly, Marge took it to heart. There were no new gym memberships, clothes shopping, or spa treatments after the bastard left. Just life, drearier than before. Marriage to the asshole was no cake walk, how he got the young girl to take him in was a wonder to Marge, but he had been better than nothing. Now, after twenty years of "togetherness", nothing was all she had.

New neighbors moved in next door, Nikki and Cindy, college roommates renting for the remaining two years of school. Marge often watched them from the safety of her front window, behind he drapes. They were vivacious and enjoyed each others company and Marge found herself envious of her two neighbors. She didn't know that they had been watching her too.

One Saturday morning found Marge washing her car in the driveway. Nikki and Cindy arrived, insisting on helping their older neighbor. The conversation eventually came around to men and dating.

"So, Marge, dating anyone?"

"No...no," she sighed. "I'm outdated goods. My ex was kind enough to share that with me on his way out the door."

Nikki looked at Cindy and nodded. They had a duty to perform.
