I've talked to 3 people today and they didn't know about the tax rebates. Granted they aren't huge, but $500 to a single Mom head of household might buy some back to school shit.

Unless they live in California and then they can use it as a down payment on the power bill.

You can thank the Democrats for those checks. The right-wingers fought any immediate relief, and especially any relief for lower income bracket taxpayers, but were forced to compromise when Democrats supported by moderate Republicans stood up against Bush's idiotic plan. Now watch as the Democrats are forced to be responsible and completely rewrite the tax cut to save the country from Reagan-like debts and the bankrupting of social security and Medicare.

The only reason we're getting refunds is to stimulate the falling economy, but Reagan tried this too, and it backfired. Instead of spending the money, people save it in times like these. I wonder why Bush can't see that.
