Man I know I enjoyed writing my threesome story from all three viewpoints, but I don't know if I can post it on the baord. It's too blasted long. I just finished my first editing of it and find it's at 25 pages. (Something like 20,000 words.) I'm wondering if should break it up and post it in sections, and maybe have people lose interest in it, or just save it in my own archives and go on. Any ideas?

My first story here was 20,450 words that came to just over six Lit pages. It has not racked up votes as quickly some of my shorter stories, as people often back click when they see how long it is. BUT The people that did read through and vote seemed pleased and it has done well overall. It's actually my highest scoring story thus far.

I prefer longer stories with lots of character development. The majority of Lit readers seem to enjoy quick stroke stories, but if you're happy with the way it came together then I would submit it as a whole. Mine would not have broken up well into chapters and I'm happy with the way it is.

What category is it in?

Good luck.

My average story comes in at about 30 to 35 word pages. I have had very few people complain about the length. It isn't the words, it's what you do with the words. Write a good story, one you are happy with and forget about the length cat. A good story will get reads, votes & feedback reguardless of length.

post!

Post it, in my view. They do like 'em short, some of them, but post it anyway. Edit it for tightness, make it bring them along. Enough people will read it , and if it truly is good, they'll say so. There's a lot of shit writing posted here. Help change that proportion.

So, what I'm hearing is that size really doesn't matter? Wow, I always thought they were just being nice. :)

I'm no writer, I only play one on the internet, however ...

When writing from three different viewpoints, was each viewpoint kept a distinct section, or were they intermingled?

If they are distinct, could they be separated as stand-alone stories, then published as a parallel trilogy?

You know, like:
"The Hump -- Alice's Story"
"The Hump -- Bob's Story"
"The Hump -- Cathy's Story"

If they are intermingled, you are probably stuck with a long story. (Nothing wrong with that, if it is a good story. Just a marketing concern.)

BTW: I lied. I don't play a writer on the internet --- so far, I only plan to.

I agree with VB. Reading the same story from different perspectives would be fun, and it would be easier to digest if it was in three stories instead of one.

Do you want an elite few reading your story, or a great number of fans-to-be?

I want to have elite feedback, but I love the feeling of knowing that there are thousands of people out there who arereading my stories. Thousands! MY stories! That's so cool..!

I like Great Mass Feedback, as well, too. Like the couple who wrote me and simply said that they loved to read my stories to get in the mood for a little fun in bed. I felt so good reading that. It's EXACTLY what I strive for! Fun stimulation for couples or singles!:cattail:

Comsidering it's a story about a threesome I was planning on it being in Group. I was tempted to put it in loving wives but remembered the flack I got about posting my last story about a threesome from the wifes viewpoint in there.
As for how it cvame out, I'm still playing with it a little bit. (Printing it out now so I can sit back and re-read it.) Thanks for the help and support.

I wrote it in distinct sections, unfortunately it alternates viewpoints in chapters so Chpt1 is his, Chpt. 2 is hers, Chpt. is third womans, Chpt. 4 is again his, etc. This is unfortunate because it would stop me from breaking it up into three stories. Too bad because I kind of like the idea. (Now why didn' I think about that before I wrote the blasted story?)

I've written a few stories. Some long some short...and in the end I get feedback that wishes this one would have been longer, or this was too long. Different people want different length stories so by all means, submit it and let the chips fall where they may. Someone or lots of someone's will read it. Trust me on that.:D

Sprit it into parts, or I won't read it.

What made me think of that was Vera Caspry's "Laura" (basis of Otto Premminger's film -- same title) was witten sort of like that.

Four different viewpoints -- one per chapter -- cycling until you have gone though 8 or 10 chapters. Points of view included a detective, the victim, a journalist, and the killer.

Made a great book, and a great movie.

I would but it's not a drink my friend. (Isn't that supposed to be Spritz?):p

P.S. Like I said, it would be kind of difficult to split it up.

I've only had one story posted so far. I should have another next week. (plug, plug)

It would have been 7 Lit pages had I done it in one post, but I split it into 4 parts.

The last part, the one with all the sex, garnered the fewest views but the largest proportion of votes. Last I checked part 4 had about 1,500 views and 21 votes for a return of 1.5% and an overall rating of 4.74. The first two nonsexual, but character and plot developing parts, had about 2,400 views each, 22 votes each and rated 4.5. The third part garnered about 2,000 views and 20 votes rating 4.7.

The point I'm trying to make is that if a long story is well written, people will make a point of reading it, even if they have to come back. There will be some drop-off, but those who come back really like the story.

So, find good spots to break at and do it as seperate posts. I don't think it will especially hurt your readership.

And if I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. ;)
