Other hobbies?

I love to read.
I love to ride horses with my buddy Shell - we barrel race each other, it's a blast.
I love to ride behind my Husband on his motorcycle on a pretty day or ride "bitch" as he calls it - lol.
I love to swim. We have a pool and if I can find a time when it's not full of teenagers I actually get to use it.

Hobbies?

I garden. I have collection of over 200 types of daylilies not to mention all the other blooming goodies in my garden.

I love horses - bred and showed Arabians for over 20 years - and, still have four 'lifers' on the farm.

I collect science fiction books.

I also showed my Pembroke Welsh Corgis until my knees decided to wimp out on me.

And, of course, my biggest hobby is my husband.

Hobbies?

Ummm....let's see.....
- Gardening....I'm crap at it, I don't know much about it, but I definately relax when fooling around with tools and stuff. :rolleyes:
- Boating is good, but it's been years since I've had a boat of my own.
- Running and riding my bicycle; I know it's called 'excercise', but I enjoy it. ;)
- 3D-design (technical): I do it for a living, but I also find it to be great fun.

Now, my real passion is something very special, and if I revealed that I would not only be classified as a major nerd; I would also immediately and effectively sacrifice whatever is left of my anonymity in this forum! :cool:

...and I haven't even mentioned my interest in certain aspects of the intimate relations between human individuals! :p

I make beaded jewelry, primarily of stone and silver.
I run an erotica forum.
I garden, mainly herbs (and with my students).
I volunteer working with kids involved in the dependency and criminal court systems.

beadwork, printmaking (monotype and letterpress) cooking my weird dietary needs, and tons and tons and more tons of graphic design and web design (is it work or is it fun, I don't know)

Online shopping more than real shopping, but either will do. I really enjoy shopping for food; I find it relaxing and it motivates me to continue to make yummy things for us
Hiking
Dabbling in modeling and photography, but only on the seamy underside ;)

Will you dabble us with your modeling, Quint? :p

Hey, and congratulations, I didn't know you were getting married. This is what I miss when I don't check in often enough.

Oh god ... I have a lot of hobbies. My parents made sure I was one of those super involved children who don't even have time to tie their shoes when I was younger.

I love to garden, but since I've moved to the city I've been stuck with container gardening and indoor plants. To compensate, I've started raising carnivorous plants. They're lovely little things, and it's fun to watch the Venus flytraps snap, in particular.

I do a lot of yoga. At one point, I was practicing pretty much every day. Now that I'm working and still taking classes, I have less time for it, but I still try and pull out my mat whenever I can. I also swim quite a bit still (I'm a former lifeguard and swim instructor), and cycle to work every day. It keeps me fairly fit now that I've stopped playing most team sports.

I used to be really into team sports, but I don't have much time for them these days. I played soccer for seven years, rugby for five, and field hockey for twelve. I also coached a couple of field hockey teams, and played some intramurals like ultimate on and off. Before I moved away, I sailed too. I used to race small crafts, and almost became an instructor.

Music is a big part of my life. I've studied several instruments, taken theory classes, and even did some composition for a while. I used to sing, too, and was in a choir, but when I had whooping cough last year I damaged my vocal chords coughing, so though my speaking voice is fine my singing voice is still recovering very slowly.

Last but not least, I love to read. I'm trying to work an English minor into my degree, and I can't walk past a used bookstore without wanting to go in and take a look. My bookshelf is absolutely packed, though, so I can't acquire any more books until I move into a bigger place.

Most of my hobby type stuff takes place in the summer when I have time for it.
I used to love to swim but feel out of place in the water now (I'm awfully bouyant)- one of my resolutions is to get back into it.
I collect coins and bills, but I'm very selective - mostly Canadian or historical.
I read.
I walk and work out.
I love to interact with nature - there are places here where you can feed chickadees or other birds and chipmunks, and I love those.
I like to take care of house plants, but I can't have them in my room anymore so we're investigating indoor/oputdoor options.
I'm also the Ann Landers of the group - people come to me for the advice and heartfelt talks and either agree then or later (depending whether or not they followed it) that the advice was right on the money. It may not be a hobby, but oh god it sure feels like one sometimes!
I also like to cook. I'm very good at it. But I don't have much time during the year.

I used to be very good at the clarinet (I was the solo clarinetist for our high school band, and my teacher was pushing for me to go on to an orchestra) and I've promised myself to take that back up. I have $1000 coming out of investments in 2 years and it's going towards a clarinet. (My grandfather left it to me and I didn't know what to do with it so I put it in a GIC)

Quint, the forum there is going to hell, but you may be able to work out some good deals on old video games at Tradegamesnow.com, it's one of my online haunts, and I actually spend more time there than I do here. :D

It's really simple, list what you are willing to swap, and what you want...and just browse for what's listed there and contact people. It's based on a feedback system like Ebay's and alot of times people will work with you when you're buying/selling/trading.

Just thought I'd throw that out there, and again I'm glad to see that we all have such varied AND similar interests everyone!

:eek: This thread makes me very dull :(

My hobbies are very limited:
Window shopping
Roaming around book shops
Buying stupid gifts that are cheap and nonsense :rolleyes:
Reading
Watching poor television (Pop Idol and similiar)
Sleeping.

I would say I need a life, but sadly i like the one I have :eek:
Its shallow and meaningless, punctuated only by great sex

Have to say I am rediscovering some of my previous hobbies/interests which were slotted for many years while I was too busy with work and study. Used to love gardening, but haven't got one here as yet and when I do it will be much smaller than I am used to. LOL F does not believe people used to stop and come in to see my garden, not to mention come back at night to steal flowers, just because I am hopeless with indoor plants and they all end up in the garbage!! So at the moment my interests are:

* Embroidery
* Knitting
* Making SM toys
* Cooking
* Reading - non-fiction and fiction
* Writing
* Photography
* Sketching
* Walking
* Bicycling
* Contemplating the universe
* Travelling when it presents itself

Sounds very interesting my dear...
One of the bulleted items in particular interests me however...
You make toys?
Like what?
And do you sell them?
:D

Mostly canes, but I am now beginning to work on making some restraints similar to ones we have which are quick to put on and take off because they are held in place by wide velcro strips and can be fastened together by heavy plastic clips in a flash. They were expensive to buy, but looks like i can make them for a fraction of the cost and have thought about then selling them.

Bump, for good and for AWESOME!

Hah, don't ask...I don't rightly know.

In theory I like reading. At present I have to do too much 'work' reading (my final paper really is a bitch), or studying, and after reading the whole day I don't feel like reading again in my free time.
I like to go climbing, I sometimes go running to pretend to become fit, I do yoga.
I love pen&paper role playing games (dungeons&dragons) and also enjoy 'normal' games.
I like shopping :) Need more time and money, though :(

Travelling, if you can call it a hobby. See note above.

My other hobbies...

I love to write and read. I sometimes do indepth studies on just about any topic, just for fun.. (lol, call me weird, but I do really enjoy learning. Each day is a day to discover something new.. an opportunity to better yourself in some subtle way... its one of the ways I combat my depression.)

I am also a pretty good baker. People love my homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.

I also volunteer doing a lot with my son's school, and other parent workshops, I was a facilitator for a parenting class for several years as well.

Normal pastimes? Hmmmm.....

  • music...recently discovered a love for jazz
  • reading
  • charcoal drawings
  • spending time with the kiddies
  • theme park/roller coaster junkies
    movie buff

Well that sums up this little kiten in a nutshell :D
