Orwellian Society

No, the web site is a satire. It's using Orwell's book to highlight the actions of the current U.S. administration.

I don't think 1984 was a satire. An allegory maybe.

I prefer the term 'cautionary tale' myself.

Well I guess what I'm asking is, what do people think of it in general? What if we lived by those rules and ideas, totally, completely, 100%?

What makes you think we aren't already?

That's the scarey thing, that people think it's just a warning of things to come and not more of a history of what is.

Who was it who said "No man is more hopelessly enslaved than he who believes he is free."?

1984 was intended as a satirical look at the aims and aspirations of the left-Wing Socialist government of the UK for, would you believe, 1948, the year after it was written.

It is interesting to note how much of it has come true. Metrication, for instance; and newspeak which we call Political Correctness; and the ubiquitous CCTV cameras; and the internet churning out porn for the masses.
