Some of the poems at Lit have some very original metaphors and similes, and some great lines! These poets simply have a way with words.

Here are some interesting poems:

smithpeter's Radon Daughters:
Dual nylon liaison peppered with flesh and flex
I like it because it sounds so dirty in such a different kind of way.

daughter's Velvet Bows & Green Ribbon:
I am billowing shears
filled with visions of
velvet bows and green ribbon.

These words flow like ribbon.

JUDO's The Sweet Smell of Supper:
But Sarcasm and Wistful stamp through the halls
I like how JUDO gives life to Sarcasm and Wistful.

Sweetwood's Paris without choice:
One night he will stand
Before me and her like
Paris without choice

Elegant!

Lauren.Hynde's Nereid Layers:
I navigate
Amidst tantalizing words
Until the monsoon
Deviates illusion from my sail.

Great metaphor!

Angeline's After I Loved You:
I was a mote of dust
Picked up from the floor
And blown with the forced hot air
Landed on a photograph of myself
When I was me
But I was only dust

Simply put but very original.

Karmadog's haiku in a hole:
Dragonflies mate like
Jets refueling in flight

Cool simile!

REDWAVE's Crystal Dreams:
Circle of mouth-love
quickening through our veins
our brains exploding in perfervid visions

RED does have a way with words that's all his own.

KatPurrs' Orders From Headquarters:
Static eyes staring, her windows
To No Trespassing signs

Another original metaphor!

RisiaSkye's Home Schooling for the Dead:
In silence, the room's
a slumbering womb which marks her as
special; sleepy snuggles and stray
murmurs of affection snare her in
a spiderweb of creeping
malevolent secrecy.

This entire poem is very original and well-crafted.

WriterDom's a steamy shangri-la:
a steamy shangri-la
sensual moments
dally into surreal sensation
spawn of soul
lover's linger
preamble into passion
spilling into the dawn

A few of these words would be considered cliché in another poem, but in this poem they are fresh and exciting.

Rybka's Sundowner:
homeward tolling fluffy sheep
they stop at earth-sky edge to bleat
and lick the sultry rim of sleep.

It's definitely worth your time to read this poem. Very original.

And here's something, hopefully original, by me:
An empty bottle crashes. I am shards
of ecstasy. You pick up the pieces
and lay me flat on wrinkled chaos.

I know there's lots more originality out there. Feel free to add your picks!

Nice picks, Eve. (And I don't just say that cuz I'm there. Though it doesn't hurt. ;)) I like your finishing lines. Great imagery, very fresh.
