Oregon

Has to say this Oregon Coast gal loves to meet new friends and see what evolves. So is Lit really a dead place to chat or meet people?

Y'know, Laugher, you're a good example of something I've been noticing lately. People's profiles on Lit often have hardly any information about the person. It would be almost as effective rolling the dice as to make friends with someone just because they post, have a gender-neutral name, and live within 100 miles. I'm not singling you out; please don't take this as criticism. Just an observation. I wonder to what extent this is responsible for the several threads I've seen about not meeting people on Lit. When I was a kid I moved a lot and I learned that the best way to make friends was to open up yourself first.

I agree with you.....I have people PM me and want to interact with me, and they have nothing in their profiles. To be honest I no longer even bother responding to them. These same people always want to know more about me, but never want to give any information in return. I was truthful with my profile....well maybe I should add that politically I am very liberal and want nothing to do with anal retentive conservatives.....well, and maybe I should add that I am very opionated about some things. LOL

I would love to make new friends.....just be honest

Profiles...

Yup, good for you, Suxxy. My profile is honest as well. Where in the northwest are you?

I won't say the exact location on the boards, but I might have left you a PM, but your PM box is full.......you have to go in and delete your sent messages and message tracking as well as the current messages to clean it out. :rose:

I just think its hard to convey everything about a person in a rather simple profile but thats just my two cents.

No one's looking for everything in a profile. just enough to have some idea whether there's any common ground, some sort of opener. If I just typed "male" under biography, what is there to catch the interest of a person? Even a stranger at a party gives more info than that with clothing, body language, etc. Not that I have anything against the mysterious, anonymous folks here; I just noticed a trend. That's all.

I tend to agree with pdx about the profile information area being rather simplistic (4 single line slots) for conveying yourself. Still, I did appreciate your sound advice regarding filling them in a bit more.

Profile

hmm... will need to go check my profile out again.. but has learned to keep things a bit sparse due to some bad experiences. If that offends.. well I guess I'm missing out but can only be me. But honestly hasn't had problems chatting with others and actually meeting.

I was born in Reedsport actually (it's around there). I went back a couple years ago and ordered a large pizza from Ray's. hmmm, nostalgia...

well... I am sure about the one on the south end of Reedsport......

Well, I remember there being one in Reedsport and one in Coos Bay/North Bend (18 years ago). I never checked to see if the one in CB/NB was still there...

lol, well it's really no big deal. I just liked that pizza, it was one of the rare pizza places where you could get a good flaky crust.
