I've been ordering my contacts online for awhile. I get an eye exam once a year and then take my prescription and order them online.

Is there somewhere reputable to order eyeglasses online? I know it is better to go get them fitted etc in a shop, but I'm not buying them to look cute. I just want a pair laying around the house to throw on in the middle of the night or if my contacts bug me - so I don't really care how they look as long as they aren't huge and black. LOL.

I'm not in the mood to go to where I usually go. (America's Best, Walmart) cause they have a really crappy selections of glasses in my price range. I've been looking at a couple of sites online with some alright glasses in my price range, but I don't want to go ordering them until I know that they're reliable.

It depends. If you wear contacts I suspect that your glasses would be strong enough that you would want the glasses fitted. Keep in mind that if you are going to be reading for any length of time or doing anything that would cause eye strain that a poorly fitted pair of glasses is going to be more trouble then they are worth.

Glasses should be fit to each individuals face. I'm sure you've heard the old phrase "Every one has one ear higher or lower then the other". Well part of what an eye doctor does is bend the frames so that the lenses are best fit to a patients face. It can be a minor series of adjustments but with glasses small adjustments can mean a lot.

It's not absolutely necessary to have a pair of glasses fitted but you might run into problems with an ill fitting frame or some other problem that would be best spotted by a professional.

Oh I know. But I figured since I would rarely be wearing them that it didn't matter. I have my contacts on almost all of my waking hours, aside from when I roll out of bed in the morning, and before I go to bed at night.

I don't -need- them. I wear disposables so once a pair of contacts wears out, I have back ups, and I always order new packs when I'm halfway through the previous. I'm not going to be driving around or going to work with the glasses because they give me a migraine when I wear them for more than an hour or so. If they didn't, I'd probably be wearing glasses instead of my contacts most of the time.

I can read without my contacts/glasses on too. They'd basically just be for backup.
