I've been watching Oprah's new Greenleaf in between Amazon's Patriot, spy series, and UK's Wentworth, women's prison series.

Unusual to hear good dialogue but I heard this line in Greenleaf that I loved. Allow me to set the stage.

Preacher Grace Greenleaf played by Merle Dandridge comes home in the early morning hours after staying over and having sex with her ex-boyfriend, Noah (how's that for a first name on a religious show) Kendall, played by Benjamin Patterson. He was supposed to be married the following week.

Even though Grace is a grown woman with a teenage daughter, her mother, Lady Mae Greenleaf, played by Lynn Whitfield, is in the living room waiting up for her.

"You're up early," said Grace.

"I've been up all night," said Lady Mae. "Where have you been?" Wait for it. Here comes the line. Are you ready? "You look like you've been rode hard and put away wet."

Wow! Lord almighty. Thank you, Jesus!

I realized it's a line that's been used many times before in many different ways but it was a line that I'll always remember.

I guess, if there was a line for the man it would be, "You look like you've been rode hard and put away hard."

Not nearly the same impact for a man as it is for a woman. I could just feel Grace's embarrassment.
