I have been a musician for 25 + years. I have enjoyed playing and listening to music from top 40 , Big Band 40's stuff to extremely Heavy Metal, and most everything in between.

I have just downloaded the most beautiful piece of music that I may have ever heard in my entire life.
It is an Operatic piece.

I always liked "Paliachi", but this piece by Hans Zimmer is near perfect.

It is called " Vide Cor Meum"

It is the closing song from the Movie "Hannibal"

I need to investigate this Mans work more thouroughly.

He writes a lot of Musical scores.....

Is anyone else into Opera, and can you point me in the right direction to expand my musical tastes again?

"Se quel guerrier io fossi: Celeste Aida" from "Aida" is absolutely wonderful.

"Madame Butterfly" is also great, as is "Carmen".

I can't really help you with much more tahn that- I'm not very knowledgable.

I am trying to download it now, I have to see what it is that has you so happy. And really my pleasure, I love looking things up online...ergo my ask me anything thread lol

I am downloading some Carmen right now Minx....4 pieces....and I already downloaded Andrea Boccelli doing the Aida piece you suggested....it is Wonderful.

DCL....I have Operalinks bookmarked and will use it often...thank you.

Good morning Kills!

Try "La Forza Del Destino" by Verdi. Or anything by Verdi.

Bocceli's new CD sounded good. He sings my favourite classical piece. ''Concert de Alances''. (Spelling probably is fucked up)

How did I know you were opera savvy AZ. You may not be an afficienado.....but you knowing some things about it, and or liking it as well surprises me not.:rose:

A friend of mine and I were browsing the music store one day and were going through the Bocelli CD's...Aria, Romanza, Verdi, etc..and she asked..."How come he doesn't look straight at you on the CD covers? He's always looking away." I had to laugh and finally answered...."Because he's blind you numbnut!" lol

Kills, you're right, I'm not much of an opera afficionado, I'm more of a classical music geek. Try Rachmaninoff or any other Russian composer.

Is now a good time to mention that I play classical piano?:)

Did someone mention opera?

Hi KS

Zimmer is a prolific composer of a wide variety of styles of music. He has scored for some of today most enjoyed films e.g "Gladiator", "Driving Miss Daisy", "The Lion King" (with Elton John & Tim Rice), "Rainman", and of course "Hannibal".

Were there any particular operas you were interested in? I grew up with opera and still love it today. The pieces mentioned so far are great listening.

I would also suggest anything by Puccini. This includes "Tosca", "La Boheme", and "Madama Butterfly".

I can recommend a good site for Hanns Zimmer material Hanns Zimmer
Just ask if you have questions. I love to talk opera. :)

LMAO

BTW, I love Abe Maria in non-religious way. I don't know who sang it but in ''KUFFS'' (The best Christian Slater movie. Ever) the song is in the background after Slater's brother got killed (Spoiler. Whoops.) Honestly, the movie is funnier than it sounds in outset.

The piece you are looking for is "Vesti la giubba" from the opera "I Pagliacci" (Act 1) loosely translated "Tears of a clown" (exact translation "garments of clown" but that's interpretation.)

Who would you suggest as the singer on "Tears of a clown"? Luciano, Mario Lanza, or Frank Correti?

The man who made it famous Enrico Caruso. Pavoratti is great for "Nessum Dorma" ;)
