we've had some discussion of story ideas which get rejected as to dismal. An opening line popped into my head ( the diseased brain), which may be dismal if handled straight. I wonder a lot idf dealing with death must be bad. After all, Hobbes ( Thomas, not Calvin and)said life is " nasty, brutish and short". Plus, I was listening to country music at the time, where love always seems to end badly- plus it costs you a dog and a pickup truck ( " dang, I sure miss that dawg").

The line is:

" He died of a broken heart."

If a few others promise to try versions of stories taking off from here., I will.

Any takers?

I might be up to the challenge...but I have to admit I'd do my own twist on a ghost story I heard in New Orleans, the last time I was there. Or rewrite my story Haunted Lover from Philippe's point of view.

A lot of country music have lyrics that could be turned easily into an erotic story for instance Coward of the County or The Barron, Sunday Morning Coming Down.

they all are good.

Love Linnet

Sirhugs;

Colour me dense, but I'm not sure I'm following you at all ...

Are you saying you want authors to write a maudlin story using the opening line 'He died of a broken heart'?

actually, I imagine, and hope some are happy stories. My secondary point was not all stories need be happy to be erotic.

Ok,I'm writing. I hope some others carry through too.

dealing with death and sensuality in a story starting with my opening line. I wish to see how others treat it.
