I have a thread on online role play titled "In Time My Love Will Find You." However the person that started the story with me has not written one line in approx. 3 months. I have tried pm and her internet email that she gave me and she does not answer. The last time she pm me was to tell me that someone really close to her had died and perhaps and rightfully so that has been the reason for her delay. My question is do I continue the story without her, or ask someone else to fill in while she comes back? The thread was open only for her. Please advise. I most graciously thank you before hand.

three months is probably too long. She's got real life crapola happening, as do so many of us, and it will be almost impossible for her to get back into the groove.

If you have a story that is screaming to get out, you might think about writing it-- as a story, not as an RP.

Yeah that really sucks, it has happened to me. What you can do is start a thread looking for a role play partner and include the link of the ongoing one to see if anyone is interested.

I ended up with someone who was better than the original partner when I did that.

I also picked one up from someone in the same boat and it was interesting to try to match the style of who I was taking over for.

I say open the thread up to a new potential participant. I also agree with Stella to a degree. If it helps get your juices flowing (no pun intended) to do a little give and take ORP writing, then definitely find a new participant. Then decide whether or not to turn it into a legitimate story. Make sure you either get permission from anyone else who has done the ORP with you if you intend to use their material or ask them to come on board as co-author(s).

If she intended to come back, she would have at least sent you a note by now. I imagine her priorities have changed.

You can try advertising for someone else, but I don't know if someone new would be comfortable trying to fill someone else's shoes. Good RP's can get very intimate, and partners just aren't interchangeable.

I think your best bet would be to start the story afresh with someone new. That way you honor your old partner by showing her she's not replaceable, and honor your new by providing her with a fresh canvas.

I could start the story fresh from the start, giving her the honor like you say, but there is one catch, I am really deep into the story. To start fresh would force me to fore go months of writing. The story has taken a turn where perhaps I may be able to wing it by myself, I may have found a way around it. For the time being I can keep writing, and in the end if she comes back, there will be a window for her to finish right along with me, if not I guess I can put the ending on hold.
Thank you for your advice.
