Exactly. And when farmed, it can only do the job faster and more efficiently. Additionally, carbon from algae farms will not be "fossil fuel" but constantly recycled ending carbon dioxide buildup. So why are you quaking?

Harvesting any wild organism is always more expensive, and ecologically questionable, than farming that organism. The current plan is to convert at least one U.S. oil refinery to algae production, specifically for the airlines. That's why beef is cheaper than bison . . . or venison imported from New Zealand.
 
Jatropha grows in poor soil, so does that include the sand of the Middle East?
