Oops!

Why would people share an IM handle? That means they would have to share an email address as well. I find that odd. Why wouldn't they have their own unique accounts?

If they are sharing one, then both users need to know the password.

If you know about the significant other, then you would probably know if it was okay to mention how you met. If not, then you are probably going to be just as surprised as they are!

I wouldn't worry about it. Use your judgment. But I suspect most people would be circumspect and would say nothing more telling than "Oh, we met on a bulletin board"

yeah, my mom said to tell you hi.

sorry about that.

You'll do anything to keep me from your mom. Why is her screen name Poonanny?

CB, this is actually a pet peeve of mine. People who leave their messenger wide open.

I tend to leave mine on, since I was living alone til recently. However, when my daughter was home over Christmas, she was on the computer, and since she doesn't use Yahoo, didn't log in as herself. A friend messaged me, even with my away message, and she just told him I was sleeping. Thankfully, I've whittled my list down to only people who don't send sexually explicit IMs, so it wasn't an issue.

I used to talk writing and Wallyhell with a Litman on IM all the time. We had a lot of fun doing it and we never spoke of anything sexual. One day, I ended speaking with one of his daughters and she was an iceberg. She must have thought she caught her old man cheating or something. It gave me the willies, I haven't been able to have a decent conversation with him since.

My IM names are usually things like Muffin, Muffie, or Muffin' Much. Nothing sexual. Just female.

I personally find it kinky.
