I would like to continue "The arrival" that I started with Elayne. We at least need a doctor on the station who can examine Natasha to figure out what happend to her. A nurse who could check out Pete would be great also. Besides that I'm open to suggestions. As you can see from the posts we allready have I prefer longer posts in this story, it doesn't matter if you can only post once a day or so.
Technology
Hyperjumps: Hyperjumps are a way of instantanous travel between two points in space. A Hyperjump takes no time but the poeple inside the ship percive it as a trip that last from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the distance between the two places. The distance that can be covered in this way is restricted to about 60 lightyears. A Hyperjump tend to cause Transit Disorder Syndrome or TDS but only in woman. TDS temporarily changes the neuronal pathways so that perception is changed drastically.
A ship can only jump if there are no gravitational influences so it need to move out of most systems to perform a jump. It needs fusion engines to get to these jump points and back to the planets.
Stations: A ship with a Hypperdrive seldom can land on a planet so there are many stations in orbit over planets. Ships dock on these stations and cargo and people are ferryed down from there.
Gravity: Gravity is created with rotation. So most space stations have a big rotation part and most of the interstellar ships have at least living quarters that rotate. Since scientists have found out that sleeping in zero-G is good for your health as long as you try to work out when you are awake most ships have sleeping bunks that can be detached from the living quarters and so they become zero-G again. This is where most of the "action" took place.
History: Sometime in the past there where only fusion engines and sleeper ships. Huge ships that had a cargo of a basic colony with everything the 1000 cryogenic frozen settles needed to settle on a planet. The ships where send to planets where deep space scans had shown that life was possible. The settles in the sleeper ships where choosen for certain common believes or way of lives. There where islamic ships and christians, mormons and nihilist, hedeonists and moralists. And so space was settled but with now way to know what happend to the settlements.
Then the war came, and lastet for longer then anybody can remember. Up until now nobody know why it was fought or when it started, but it nearly killed of all population on earth. During the war no ships where send and technology was on a decline. The war ended with the arrival of the "artifact" over earth. Nobody knows what it is, nobody knows what's in it. It simply is a sphere with a diameter of roughtly 140 miles. It transmited the plans for the Hyperjump drive and for Hyperpuls communication devices to all nations on earth and after that it fell silent.
What it also did, but what nobody realized was that it also reduced the agressivness in people and this was the reason the war ended.
It is now the year 75 AtS (after the sphere). In the last 75 years probes where send to all colonies each fittet with a Hyperpuls communication device so that communication was reestablished.
Collonies: Even though communication was restored it is still unclear what most settlements are about and what kind of settles live there.
So if you still here you can post your character and your basic idea what you would like to bring in to the setting. I'm open to everything.
