OOC Thread for "Mr. Rodgers Held Hostage..."

With that said, I want to toss out there about Billy that I don't mind all that much taken a few liberties with my character. He is psycho so if you want to do something a little unexpected... go ahead. If you think it is a lot, then just shoot me a hollar and check with me.

If I happen to upset people with my responses, please just say so. There are edits in place for a reason and I have NO problem what so ever with going back and changing something. The last thing I ever intend is to make someone mad with my writing so please talk to me. If for some reason I am causing too much trouble, then I can easily bow with with grace and dignity...

Powerdog, I am so sorry if I was incredibly mean to you back there! It's just that I tend to speak my mind. My loose tongue had always (and probably always will!) gotten my in trouble.

So I'm taking this opportunity to apologize and hope that you weren't too heavily offended by my brass unforgiving words...

Honestly, I am not offended, but I tend to disagree with the general nature of this idea of writing for only your own characters. You have to allow a little creative leeway for your own characters. If someone wants to beat the crap out of my guy, do it... if you want to write about him being threatened, or driving a car, or whatever, do it. A good writer has the ability to step in and work with what is at hand.

If I only write about my character, then there is no one to lead the story. We only write about reactions and about actions, then this story is bound to fail. I have read every line in this OOC thread and I still can't feel settled about this. At this point, I am not sure what to write or if I should push forward, or wait for someone else or anything...

Please understand I am not mad. I have spent a very long time commanding star trek SIMS and other SIMS where I have to push a story forward and to suddenly have to step back and wait for action to take place is very difficult for me as I so used to being a driving force. So, someone please tell me what to do? I do not mean to upset anyone, but I need direction from someone on how I am supposed to do this.

Let me reexplain something. I wrote 'If I only write about my character, then there is no one to lead the story.'

What I meant to say was If I only write about my own character and not to push the story forward, someone needs to step up and push the story instead. At least... I think that is what I mean to say. I am not trying to sound condescending to anyone and if it came out that way, I truly apologize...

I'm so glad that I didn't offend you. But the answer to your question is beyond me. I'm patiently sitting back and relaxing while I wait for the next little piece of genius wyld or sally cook up. I'm looking forward to how Darla is going to tie Brianna up! ^^

And Wyld? Mmaybe you could play the concerned uncle again and visit your sister, Sarah? She's going to totally freak out at the news. Just a tiny suggestion. You don't need to but you don't have to.

*chuckles*

Already planned to have James do that, actually. *smiles*

You read my mind.

Scary thought, isn't it? :p

~Wyld

Every once in awhile cooperative stories have these kinds of problems, simply because of their very nature, cooperative stories ARE reactive. Your characters WILL react to whatever happened in the last post...so when someone posts and makes another person's character say or do something, it does throw folks off. simply because, seeing it isn't YOUR character, you have no idea how the person writing them would WANT them to react.

We'll get it down folks...this isn't the first time I've seen stories hit a glitch like this...we just have to keep lines of communication open, and if we're all on the same page...that's what the OOC is for. *smiles*

Maybe just a little bit.
It does seem that we think quite alike doesn't it?
Are you sure we aren't twins? Or something like that?

Hi all,

Reading what has been written since I've been asleep, maybe Cassie can be a character controlled by all the other writers? That gives a way of driving things forward? After all she's been without personality so far so could be whatever you want her to be?

Just to clarify, I only stepped in to help Wyld out, so have no "agenda".

Just trying to be helpful and hoping I've not made things worse.

Apologies

Hey Delicious!

I want to thank you for stepping in and helping us out here! It adds flavor to the story that is essential. I am sorry if I have made assumptions about your character. From reading your parts of the story, I love the fact that we have a member of the gang who is hesitant and I was attempting to honor your work with using her accordingly in mine. I apologize if I messed up.

For that matter, Darla, Evan and Brianna are all great characters and so far have been written extremely well and I am excited about where this story will go. I don't mean to overstep my bounds at all so let's slow this down, take a look at our story and keep going... all of us...

Thankyou Powerdog. I appreciate the welcome and the words.

I didn't want to gatecrash and start causing problems. I apologise if I have.
I'm glad you like the idea of a more hesitant character.
Would it help if I posted an OOC about Cassie so that everyone understands where she's come from, her motivations etc. That way we can write more freely and get the balance between moving the story forward and developing the characters' relationship with each other?

Nice to meet you btw... and everyone else...

DM :rose:

You know what... that is a great idea!!! I love it! I think we should all do that!

It is a pleasure to meet you too!

I've enjoyed your writing ... all the characters on here are very believeable ... scarily so ...

I'll work on an OOC post and put it up asap.

Billy profile:

Billy is an Alpha male and that is all there is to it. He thrives off of controlling the situation. He gets his rocks off on it. He goes with Darla on these robberies not for the cash, but the thrill of controlling and creating terror in those 'innocent' around him. He was never a hugely materialistic person as it did not meet with his gypsy like lifestyle.

Billy is psychotic though. He has killed in the past, but it was almost always justified as self defense. He was shot at by rival gangs as a kid and he shot back and happen to hit a few. He has never really committed a real cold blooded premeditated murder before and he never really wants to do that either. He prefers to keep his acts small as not to be picked up on radar by the cops too much. Unfortunately, he knows this kidnapping is the first big thing that he is sure will put him on the radar so he knows that he is going to have to come up with a way to get out of this situation without the cops trailing his carcass the rest of his life.

His feelings for Cassie as more heartfelt than his feelings for Darla. Darla is passionate, free, and as crazy as he is when it comes to things. The sex is incredible with Darla but where the hardcore is intense, it lacks in heart. That is where Cassie comes into play. He first fell in love with Cassie. She is his girl and he hopes perhaps one day to settle down with her. But that day is not going to happen anytime soon. He is too busy having fun with Darla.

His mental state for how he wants to get through this situation is this. He wants to dump the van and boost a car or two to throw the cops off the scent a bit then find someplace to hang low for a while. After a few days, he was thinking of taking the gang out of the area to someplace with less heat on them. His heroes are Bonnie and Clyde and he honestly fills like he is living that life right here and now...

Hope this helps a bit...

Cassie - Cassandra Blaketon –Background

Of all of them, Cassie can empathise with Euan and Brianna. Unlike the others, she came from a stable, loving and actually quite well-off home. Like Brianna, she hooked up with the wrong guy – Billy. Everything in Cassie’s life was safe and secure ... and smothering. She was always the little princess – petite, blonde, delicate ... and her parents had high expectations of her.
She was attracted to Billy because he was dangerous ... and forbidden.
He to her? Perhaps because he could see a part of her dying to break free ... and it would be one up to the establishment!

She was 17 when she first met up with him and still focused on her education. For about 6 months, she would see him around, watch him, hear people talking about him, about how bad he was. She heard rumours of alcohol, drugs, theft ... which intrigued rather than repelled her.

Then out of the blue, just after her 18th birthday, he had turned up at the college gates. Perched on motorbike that might have been his, or he might have “borrowed” and called out to her as she walked past. He knew her name, knew where she lived and knew she had just had a birthday ...
He offered to help her celebrate. With hardly a back glance, Cassie got on the bike and drove off with him, only re-emerging 48 hours later to the relief of her parents and the local constabulary. She would not say where she’d been, but they had been spotted together and Billy was “warned off”.

Typically that didn’t deter them. It only made them seek each other more. Cassie’s grades fell, her relationship with her parents deteriorated and more and more she would just take off without explanation drifting in and out of home as it suited. The police were no longer called. Unless it was to bring HER back after a disturbance that she had caused in the company of Billy!
They had 9 months of fun, of hell-raising. All small-scale, but increasingly Billy incited her to more and more reckless and unlawful behaviour. Her parents despaired. But kept accepting her back, hoping that she would change her ways ...

It was a family crisis that came between them finally. Her grandfather died unexpectedly. She was out hell-raising at the time and only found out 2 days later. Filled with grief and remorse, she told Billy she needed some time. Thinking that he understood, she returned home to assist with arrangements and to comfort her family.

It was during that time that Billy met up with Darla.

Cassie had intended to be away just a couple of weeks, but those weeks turned into a month and it was actually 7 weeks before she could even begin to sneak out now and then to see him.

When she first met Darla, she didn’t even think of her as a rival. Sure she had seen Billy out with her, but so confident was she in her relationship with Billy that it wasn’t until she actually walked in on them that she realised just what was going on ...

She was hurt and confused, but somehow Billy talked her round, made it seem acceptable, still more fun and dangerous ... besides Darla was just for kicks, it was Cassie he loved ... Darla seemed to want the same thing as Billy. She didn’t seem to want to push Cassie out, in fact the two got on surprisingly well. Cassie actually admired Darla! Darla was so much more feisty and carefree and wild compared to Cassie. She would encourage Cassie to begin to sneak out, tell her she had done her “duty” and now it was time she left home and looked on them as her “family”. And so Darla almost became “big sister” and when the suggestion came that they strike out together to pastures new, Cassie went along with them ...

Since being out on the road together, things have escalated beyond what Cassie ever imagined being involved with! Petty theft in order to survive seemed ... justifiable ... but increasingly Darla and Billy seem to whip each other up into situations that Cassie finds increasingly terrifying. She could opt out and go back home, she knows she’d be welcomed with open arms, but she could not see herself ever going back to that life. She still gets on with Darla, but her initial admiration has turned to wariness. She thinks the Darla / Billy combination disastrous. It isn’t even that she wants to split them up, she’s somehow accepted that Darla feeds Billy’s sexual and aggressive appetite, but really fears that this will all end with someone getting seriously hurt.

She was never enthusiastic about this robbery idea. They have never queried her loyalty because of her obvious devotion to Billy and sisterly attachment to Darla in fact her level headedness has even gotten them out of a few scrapes previously. She is secure enough with both to be willing to be the voice of reason, but in this situation, Cassie feels like they are all getting out of their depth. Only very recently did Billy talk her into carrying a knife, for protection, but she would never touch firearms and the whole shoot out has scared them her out of her wits!! She fears for herself and Darla, but mainly Billy because he seems more out of control than she has ever seen him. The taking of the father and daughter are also making her thing of her family back home and the way her father used to dote on her. The stark contrast between her group and their hostages is beyond poignant and makes her realise just what she has become ...

Hope this helps?

okay boys and girls, I've posted as Darla, and have rechecked it twice, and I havent added anything that should impede any other character. Darla has basically gone off in a huff, disposing of the van. This should allow time for Cassie to flesh out her relationship and history with Billy. It should also allow later on for Cassie and Darla to get alone to talk, and maybe that can flesh out Cassie too.

My intention is for Darla to spend the next while, going back to the cabin, and when first they are at the cabin sulking. I thought, if its okay, she could take out her spite on Brianna and Evan, largely ignoring the other two.

Hope this is okay with everyone, if not let me know and I'll think up something else.

For what its worth, I dont have any issue in someone writing about my character, in truth I kinda like the variable, and will react as I see fit. So feel free to write about Darla reaction or whatever, I'll just go with the flow.

cheers!!

Just edited my post slightly to pick up on the Darla post...

Hope it works?

Hi sally! Sounds like a plan!

Loving your character ...

:rose:

Thanks DM

I thought, it okay with everyone, when someone eventually picks up Darla, maybe she would drive, this could leave Billy and Cassie in the back to chat away, while Darla seethed silently, and glared at Brianna in the front??

*ggls*

I love the way your mind works ...

Although I'm open to any combination... two in the front, two in the back ...
All have potential!

Hmmm... what is more dangerous than a pissed off psycho woman? umm... nothing I think. Billy and Cassie had better keep eyes in the back of his head. LOL

Very much liking the direction this is going, folks...looks like everyone has been busy while Evan has been kncocked out in the trunk! *chuckles*

Liked the backstory you two wrote in here...if defined alot.

The interaction between Billy and Cassie in story was great...makes their motivations for why they are together seem more clear.

Loved the way Darla was played too..**** to see a woman get pissed...well, as long as it isn't directed at ME, anyway. :p

The History Of Darla!!!

i'VE TAKEN A REAL EASY ROUTE TO THIS AND LARGELY CUT AND PASTED FROM MY FIRST POST, IN WHICH I GAVE A GOOD DEAL OF DETAIL ABOUT WHO DARLA IS AND WHERE SHE CAME FROM - I ADDED IN A FEW EXTRA BITS AT THE END - JUST TO SHOW IM NOT COMPLETELY LAZY!!!!

Anyone seeing Darla would know instantly she was a wild child. Her low cut t-shirt showed the edge of a rose tatoo, and under her left sleeve, another peeped out, although you had to look closely to see that it was a dragon. Her right eyebrow, and right nostral were pierced - so were her nipples, but, of course that was not normally evident.

Darla was actually 23, although she looked younger, and surprisingly she came from a good family, who had pretty much disowned her. No one would dream that this wild child, had spent her early years, at church every Sunday, front row, listening to her father's sermons. Her father was a minister, and Darla, had adored him, until, at the age of 14 had discovered boys, and taken a particular liking to the town bad boy, who, at 19 was far too old for her. Her parents had tried to control her, but unlike her siblings who were pliant, and bent to their father's will, Darla had rebelled against everything her family held dear.

She had finally run away at 16, and had been brought home by the cops. This had been like a movie loop for the next two years, as her unruley behaviour heaped humilliation after humilliation on her family in general, and her father in particular. He held little authority as the parish's moral compass, when he could not control his own flesh and blood. Just before her 18th birthday, the family had moved across the country to another parish, where they hoped to start afresh. This time when Darla left, no one went looking for her, and, as glad as she was to escape the claustrophobic confines of her overly moralistic family, she knew they heaved a collective sigh of relief when she left.

Darla had worked her way from town to town taking whatever work she could get, before moving on. Sometimes she hooked up with some guy or other, and when that broke up, she moved on. she met Billy when she was 21, at a NA meeting. Both were there at the behest of the court. Neither were particularly interested in treatment, as neither felt they had a problem, but it had bought them leniency, and neither had to do time. Having hooked up, they had a casual relationship thereafter - being together, if neither had a better option.

They traveled around together from then on. Sometimes they made money through blackmail - finding a conservative guy, Darla would hook up with him, then, in return for their silence, they would relieve him of his ready cash, and move on, boosting the occasional car from , taking stuff from unlocked cars, seeking out easy targets, and taking advantage of any opportunity to get rich the easy way.
* * * * *
I think Darla is pretty tough, but not quite as tough as she seems. She is striving to appear more and more hardcore, in an attempt to lure Billy. They seem to feed off of one anothers wild ways, concocting every more daring wild schemes and Cassie is the voice of reason which has prevented them form making disasterous decisions in the past.

Darla largely ignores the times Billy and Cassie are together, because she is jealous by nature, but really fond of Cassie, and tries to look out for her like a younger sister. Darla's jealousy in respect of Billy / Cassie thing, is not due to any love of Billy, but rather Darla's desire to be the centre of male attention. She knows that Billy gets off on the wild sex he has with her, but that, if it came to the crunch, he'd side with Cassie. Darla secretly misses her family, but knows she is dead to them, and is somewhat insecure due to her families' treatment of her.

Darla's wild nature, and her up-for-anything mentality, means she is unlikely to make old bones. Her motto is "Live fast, die young, and leave a beautiful corpse."

pissed off and psychotic! Great combo!!!

I have plans for taking my annoyance, which should rightfully be directed at Billy out on Evan - kinda like a whipping boy! Evan, you might want to get the bag of frozed peas out, cos I'm hoping to direct the hard kick in the balls I want to give Billy, to you instead!!! probably later, I'll attack Billy, although, unlike Evan he's not tied up, and will be likely to fight back, but its a great out for the adrenalin!!!

Damn...I'm freaked out now! Every guy knows that...well...you can threaten to KILL a guy, and they'll laugh at ya...but if you threaten to kick em in the crotch, they immediately shudder, cup their balls, and fall into the fetal position.

*laughs*
