The Purgatory Inn

Looking for players interested in this open story line.

Welcome to the Purgatory Inn. Located somewhere in between space and time. The hub of a vast web of interdimensional portals, the ultimate vacation destination for the hedonistic of any dimension. Owned and operated for the last 500 years by Lady La Sombra devine diva of shadows.

Lately the Inn has become restless and several unexpected portals have opened from previously unexplored dimensions. Unscheduled guests are beginning to appear on a regular basis, throwing the entire staff of the Inn into chaos. Often they become lost within the vast halls of the Inn and find themselves in many an interesting situation.

This story allows for a wide variety of characters, I encourage any and all types, but please be sure to give a brief outline of the type of dimension you come from. Or if you are one of the unexpected guests you may find yourself not even knowing what has happened, and may not be aware of others dimensions.
There is also openings as staff of the Inn either Sexual Artists or Basic Housekeeping.

I will be portraying the Lady La Sombra.
She is of a coal skinned people on the outskirts of the time rift, Her hair, nails, skin and eyes all an inky carbon black. Despite her unusual pigmentation, La Sombra has the appearance of human woman in early thirties, thought the truth behind her true age has yet to be determined.

Tall, elegant, almost aristocratic, The Lady is the premier Madam of the Inderdimensional Hotel Circuit. She is a shrewd buisness woman and puts up with very little. She takes the buisness of pleasure very seriously.

My entrance

He just appears on the street outside the inn. He's wearing a full-length black leather cloak. He stand about seven foot eleven and has extremely broad shoulders. The cloak covers his entire figure, showing only the black toes of his military combateboots. There is no sign of his face behind the hood of the cloth. He strides in the door, ducking to avoid the frame. He keeps his cloak on and walks over to the desk.

"I'm looking for some information and possibly a room."

Welcome to the forum, Sultry. Love your signature! Intriguing set-up for your thread, too.

Always nice to meet another idealist and/or cynic.

:D

Welcome Bengal and Shereads.

Bengal, I'm actually going to start the Purgatory thread seperate from here, as this is just a place to discuss roles, characters and such without clogging the main story line.

Shereads thank you for the encouragement and warm welcome. Part of my tag line the Cynical Idealist part, I actually borrowed from a Rush Song.

Lars

Lars is a grizzled ex-bounty hunter. He barely remembers where he was born. His parents moved him frequently when young. Lars' back and knees have begun to go and he has retired from the action of the chase. Here at the Inn, he serves as one of the members of the security staff, it is mostly an honorary position as nothing really ever happens, but the Inn is happy to help him slip into retirement with somewhat of a cushy job. This is not to say his skills are gone, his body has just taken too much physical abuse over the years.

Stats:
Age:57
H/W: 5' 7", hovers around 175
Body: Well-built, but aging. Various joints don't work as well as the used to.

His hair is salt-and-pepper, heavy on the salt. He smiles a lot more than he used to and it lights up his chisled face. He carries several scars on his brow and cheek. Hands are rough, but steady. When you look at him, you get the feeling, "I would feel safe with this man protecting me."

Where and when is this going to start then. It sounds like lots of fun.

I'm joining as a guy named Derrick Lander.

Height: 6'2
Weight: 225 lbs.
Build: Well built in muscle
Occupation: English Teacher, street ball player, Demon slayer (that would include vampires as well)
Sexual Preference: Women, straight
Unusual Quirks: He's a little uneasy around gay people, but doesn't discriminate in any way.
Weapons: M-16 Assualt Rifle, Long broad sword, long sais and a Glock 50 with dual action light scopes.
Abilites: He can fight vampires and demons and most of time, he wins. He is a natural acrobat, and can has a good jump to him. He knows hand to hand combat well and majors in the Tai Kwon Do way of fighting. There's a different side to him, one that most people don't know, he is actually a demon in disguise. The demon's name, Iron Jack, the metal demon, it looks almost like Derrick only it is a little more harrier, it uses high powered attacks and is harder to kill than a roach on steriods. It has super speed, super strength and pretty good agility, it has wings so agility really isn't nessecary. It gives him an edge against demons and other enemies alike.

Welcome Garelock! Please feel free to jump right on in and get a feel for the place.

My bet is there will be plenty to interest a man like Derrek.

I Do Realize That, LOL

Yet, one post and I'm already being pummeled by some tiger guy, but who in their right mind would screw with a Demon slayer? I mean, that's like trying to fight the Arch Angel Gabriel and expecting to win.

Hm well perhaps your approach wasn't the best Garlock.

B'sides you failed to notice that the Tiger guy and Kassandra were not in the lobby, they were in a room. Room 102, so your post was a bit out of context with the story. We ran with it and did the best we could to work around the discrepancy.

Well, the guy roughed me up, thought it was only fair to get him back. I mean, I didn't mean any harm when I said those jokes, thought he'd laugh at him. I mean, Derrick is nowhere near his size, so of course he wasn't trying to intimidate the guy or trying to pick a fight. Derrick is a demon slayer, demon slayers are smart, they don't pick unnessecary fights. If I let that one slide with the Tigarian then everyone will want to jump on Derrick and I just wasn't going to have that. Sorry about the mix up, I'll edit the post if you want, which is I'll get to it right away. Trust me, that Tigarian doesn't want to attack Derrick again, or else, Iron Jack will come out, and he DOESN'T want to fight that freak.

~shrug~

I'm pretty easy going with this sort of thing. I just want to run an entertaining and as close to an even flowing storyline as possible.

So if'n you want to edit that's cool, but I'm not going to "require" it or anything.

Just whatever you do, Please don't call The Dark Lady sweetcakes, things might get reaaaal ugly. LOL J/k

Are NPCs allowed? Also, I edited the post, I said he went to room 102, barged in and gave the Tiger a beat down then. But I helped him to his feet, you know, the whole honor code and all. What I mean by NPC is non player characters, like vampires and demons attacking and stuff. Then I could demonstrate Iron Jack's capabilities, and trust me, it's going to get pretty nasty, it's not for the faint at heart, I mean, heads will be sliced off, hearts ripped out of chests, eyeballs torn out and being juggled like toys.

Try not to think of this so much as a Roll Playing Game and more like an interactive story. You may play as many characters as you can handle as long as you try to keep a cohesive storyline. That's really all I ask.

Also keep in mind the details of the Purgatory Inn. It is a very upscale interdimensional brothel, not some run down motel 6 in some ghetto dimension. GRIN

There will be every kind of being imaginable hanging round the place. Thousands of dimensions have portals that open up inside the Inn itself. Even some from the Infernal worlds as well as vampire realms, tho' the Lady tries to keep a tight reign on who enters from those lands. They tend to be bad for buisness.

If you want to write blood and gore, that's entirely up to you, I'm fine with that. I have a cast iron stomach and very very very little shocks me.

Cool, I was exaggerating a bit with the gore thing, just seeing what you would say. LOL! Oh well, you seem like a nice girl, kind of attracting, I noticed that from the start, too bad Derrick won't make a pass at you, no offense, but he's into the more adventurous types.

A nice girl eh? O' I'm definitely female, but I wouldn't necessarily say I'm nice. LOL

I promise not to be to devastated at being passed over by Derrick. ;)

Oh, I'm sorry, if you wanted him to go for it, I'd try to. I didn't know you liked him, sorry, I really am. And yes, you're a nice girl, don't ever say you aren't, trust me, I know stupid and mean people, and you're not one of them. I posted too, nothing goreing or nothing like that, just the start of it, I want to see what this Tigarian guy can do, but if you like him, he must be good I guess.

Uhm....?

Ok ya lost me I'm afraid. This isn't about "like/dislike" or anything of that nature. This is a story with a wealth of creative characters just waiting to spring to life.

In case ya didn't notice I happen to be at least 3 different people at the moment, in the story that is. It's looking like I might have to become a few more if we don't find a few other folks to join in.

I'm a spinner of stories, addicted to writing. I've written with some pretty fun groups in the past, but nothing in the last few years. I just came here to get my "story teller groove" on, so to speak. LOL

I've noticed

I've noticed that from the very start, you are the one that started this story afterall. I'm not trying to make this into a battle rpg, just trying to correct some mistakes, maybe if I help the Tigarian defeat those demons then maybe we'll be cool then. Also, people seem to like to respond to battle faster than just ordinary posts, I've noticed that over the years, I'm the proud owner of a few rpgs myself, so you understand. Yep, you're a story weaver alright, that I could notice right off the bat. It's hard to rp with me though, I keep using this "The longer the better" concept, and I never work on the roleplay itself, I'll have to develop a better style. Wouldn't you agree? And trust me, I know what it's like playing multiple characters, I played the role of 10 characters in one rpg.

It's been my experience that in order to create a fufilling story and believable world it's best to start off slowly, building character backgrounds and such as you go. Thus I have to disagree with you regarding the "rushing into battle" position.

I find that there can be a lot of diverse situations discovered in what you would call "ordinary posts". And those types of discoveries can make for some really exciting story lines.

Regarding your style, well, in my opinion and for what it's worth, you are trying to hard to create a certain type of enviroment. An enviroment that might not actually be conducive to the story at hand.

It might help if you slowed down, and took in all the actions of the other players, and work yourself into those actions.

Just a thought.

The Tigarian

You sort of made a horrible introduction, Garelock. My character was just being developed when you busted in. He was just getting arround to explaining how he was very sensitive about his race, being one of the last. He is one of the royal class or so he just descovered. You caught him at a bad time. His life just underwent some major changes.

The royal Tigarians were destroyed by a legion of extremely powerful demons, some of the strongest. They had discovered they possessed an ability to fight them on an equal level. The demons destroyed Tigar and all of the royalty.

Santrar is the last of the royal blood and thus doesn't understand the powers yet, but he was trained by the Killer's Kult, the best group of mage assassins in the known universe. He knowns how to kill with not only his weapons but his body itself. When he is pissed off, his entire body becomes a channel for his powers. The last time someone pissed him off, he killed three mid-level demons. That's why he was on the run.

Introducing Divinia Firesong

Former chancelor to the high priest of Kaiden. Former due to her run in with one of the clan from the dark lands, a vampire named Wrafe who attempted to turn her. Once her body was soiled by the vampire she was no longer pure enough to work for the High Priest and was thus excomunicated from the temple.

Homeless and still suffering from the unsuccessful vampire's bite, she finds her way to the doorway leading into the Purgatory hotel, in hopes the Dark Lady will hire her on in some capacity.

Divinia is from a race of people who are basicly elven.
5'10 and 130 lbs
Red hair that hangs to her waist, though she wears it tied up most the time.
She has very light skin and her eyes are very dark almost black with red gleam to them.
Her eyes are have an almond shape and her ears a slight point. Due to the vampire infection partially affecting her she has increased night vision and occasionally craves very rare meat or fresh blood.

As chancelor she was trained in many fields of study, her primary being hand to hand combat and archery.

Welcome Blackfeather, sounds like your character will fit right in around here. :)
