OOC: Resident Evil thread

I've had an idea lately for a Resident Evil thread. I know that they haven't done so well here but I'm hoping to change that with this one.

What my idea was is that the main characters in the thread (anyone who joins) has no idea of what the hell is going on.

I know that this may be a bad thing but I was hoping not to have any mutants or anyone too powerful. I mean that you can be a psychic and have some sort of powers like that but not to the level that Alice would have in the movies. If you are a person with special forces training that is okay but you are just like the rest and trying to get out alive while trying to figure out what is going on.

It would be best not to have a character that knows what is going on (ie, knows anything about the Umbrella Corporation etc)

One thing that I have to say is that the infected in this are faster and meaner than what they used to be. You cannot turn a corner and wait for them to come after you. If you run, they will run after you. They can also carry weapons.

Can you please not have characters from any of the games or movies. They might be mentioned but I just want normal people in this, well as normal as you can make them.

Okay, here is the storyline:

This will take place in New York City. Excavators digging a new underground turnnel uncover something that shouldn't be there. They are ravaged by some sort of parasite and are immediately taken to the nearest hospital. The hospital staff don't know how to handle these people and after three days the excavators die but before an autopsy can be performed they rise again and start to attack the people who are performing it. Soon enough, a new, strange "condition" is sweeping the city. All that is known is that the people infected hunger for human flesh and it is virtually impossible to stop them and that a bite has a 100% mortality rate.

Personality: Good-natured and wanting to help others that's part of the reason she decided to be a doctor. Not particularly brave she isn't a fighter, though she will risk her life to save someone else.

History: Born and raised in New York, she followed in her fathers footsteps and became a surgeon. She's spent the last three years working at a New York hospital.

Note: My character has no idea what zombies are.

Personality: Friendly and good natured. Will do anything to try and get his story but will not put friends in danger to do so.

History: Born in upstate New York moved to the city to start his career as a reporter. Used to be a war reporter so knows how to handle weapons. Came back to New York to become a "real" reporter and thinks that this story is the biggest thing that he has been given but has no idea of what is going on.

I have one question:

What do the zombies look like and what can they do?

Seeming as this thing that has created the zombies is a parasite I was thinking that the people at first look like normal humans except for several differences. They are far more aggressive, they will try to hunt you down if you run (screaming loudly as they do), they will try to bite any part of you, they can use weapons (melee weapons), they do not feel pain or have any limits (so expect to see some of them with bullet wounds and the such). They look like they have gone insane and have severally bloodshot eyes.

In the second week they begin to lose their function of speech. They can still scream when chasing you but they cannot have a conversation.

In the first month they will start to decay (unless injured by something or someone).

They will probably hunt as a large group.

A head shot is the only way to kill one (apart from blowing the shit out of them that is).
