OOC: G I Joe! Old School!

I was wondering if there would be any interest in a rp based on Joe, the original cartoon from the 80's and the comics.

My story concept is still kinda sketchy but I was thinking that it would be cool to explore how these old characters would thrive in our current world. I tried this once before but it didn't go very far.

How about the old Joes are in retirement but Cobra is stil out there, lurking, and he wants his revenge still, so he's spent his time and energy tracking down the Joes in retirment and has his minions out to kill them... Or try too.

I had an interesting opening scene in mind too.

Picture a grey haired man who is quietly teaching his teenaged son/daughter martial arts in the back yard as a flame red haired woman watches on, giving occasional additional advice to the child. A moment of silence as the man seems to notice something, only to tackle his kid to the ground just in time to evade a spray of bullets from... Somewhere.


Let me know what you think and hear some ideas if anyone is interested in this. Thanks.

but i feel you need to first set up a base to control all Joe's remaining and where they are else the thread can go awry
You will need to point out why the old outfit closed or is it still active and the old ones just retired

I figured the Joe's Pit and a few of their other bases would still be operational and that a few of the major characters would still be there as instructors for the newest Joes.

So there would be some room to make up your own characters as the next generation of Joe heros as well. I also feel that if we wrote a few scenes where the targeted Joes don't make it, it would make the story have more of an impact.

Say a nasty brawl between Road Block and Road Hog... That ends with Road Block breaking that mo fo's neck only to be gunned down by a squad of vipers as he stumbles out into the open...

History's Greatest Soldiers. The idea was he was to be the General in charge of COBRA's military arm, since the Commander's downfall is his lack of military genius. He's got Charisma and behind-the-scenes manipulation down pat, but the military end constantly proved to be COBRA's weak point.

The problem is, history's greatest Generals were also dictators.

In reality, most of the problems came from the Commander seeing him as a rival. Serpentor is never actually a leader of COBRA while the true Commander is around.

And yes, Zartan killed him with an arrow. TO THE FACE.

How would you feel about playing the opening scenes like you as cobra commander are watching video feeds of your minions attempts at killing the retired joes, and you can give direct instructions to the troops as needed.

Who would you figure Cobra Commander would go after first?

I feel fine with that. I'm even willing to play out all the untaken minions.

As for who...
That depends on what point we're saying things disband and came back.

There is a lot of canon for GI Joe.

If we start off with Storm Shadow having traded sides, before he was brainwashed into COBRA again, Storm Shadow will be hunted down first. If he is, it will likely be Snake-Eyes, because of the amount of history there.

Also, does your list include who's dead? Because depending on where we take our starting point from, several people will be dead.

Also, the Comics are about, ohh, infinitely better than the show.

Or we could go along canon until we actually hit when the Joes were retired and returned, and play from there using what they set up.

Well, that would depend on what canon we're using. A lot of those names come up after certain points. I mean, iof we're only using the first run of 155 comics, I can cull out half those names and give you a good list of people and who's retired or not.
