Greetings

This is my second posting to this forum and I have an idea for a thread that I would like to attempt. Chances are it has been done before, but as I have seen, many people recently on this forum have started quite recently, so perhaps this is new for some. It is quite simply based around a hotel, and there are many types of creatures that prey here. It takes place in the 19th century, and is along a main road to New York City, thus allowing for plenty of people to visit, and people of all types. Werewolves, vampires, and just about any other creature of the night you can think of be it Nosferatu type vampires, or anything you desire. I only ask that if it is a creature other than a werewolf or vampire, please post for permission in this OOC room first. Whatever your character's story is is fine, but if you could present the new creature you bring to the table in the manner that the ones listed below are, I'd appreciate it, just so we don't get any off-the-wall, all powerful creatures.

SPECIES: Vampire
SPECIAL POWERS: Immortality, flight, hypnotism, ability to suck blood from prey directly from their neck or a distance, telekenesis (not telepathy), increased speed and strength, and invisibility.
WEAKNESSES: Their blood is flammable (thus fire is a weapon against them), and sunlight.
NORMAL APPEARANCE: Human, but with very pale skin.
TRUE APPEARANCE: Human, but with fangs, a change in eye color is also possible.

SPECIES: Werewolf
SPECIAL POWERS: Immortality, increased speed and strength, enhanced smell and hearing, hypnotism, retractable claws, ability to transform into a very large wolf-like creature.
WEAKNESSES: Their blood is flammable (thus fire is a weapon against them), severing of the head.
NORMAL APPEARANCE: Human, though werewolves can loose their claws, but this also causes their eyes to turn to their greenish-yellow color.
TRUE APPEARANCE: A large, wolf-like creature that moves on all fours. Male werewolves have a very taut, muscular appearance, while females have a very smooth, lithe look. Their eyes are a near flourescent greenish-yellow.

SPECIES: Human
SPECIAL POWERS: Uhh...none.
WEAKNESSES: Just about everything, considering they're mortal.
NORMAL APPEARANCE: Human
TRUE APPEARANCE: Human

Simple, isn't it? I hope to have a variety of species being used by the players to make it more interesting. Feel free to create NPC's (Non-Player Characters) to use to flesh out your character, or for a snack, or even your sexual desire if there isn't anyone that wishes to engage you in such. If you wish to actually play more than one part in this, that's perfectly fine, too, because I probably will, anyways.

Anyways, when entering the story, please put your character's information on your first post, or if you want it to be considered you can post it in this OOC room first. Character info is set like this (this also happens to be my main character):

NAME: Daren Ramius
GENDER: Male
COUNTRY: Russia
SPECIES: Werewolf
HAIR: Brown
EYES: Brown
HEIGHT: 6'1"
STATUS: Guest at the hotel.

Status simply means what part you play. Are you the manager of the hotel? A maid? Things like that. Of course, if you're just staying at the hotel, then you're a "Guest at the hotel."

Another idea I've considered while reading the many posts on this forum is next to writing your character's name in the subject of your post, you could write your location that you are at at the beginning of your post. This might solve people getting confused as to who they are referring too when there are a lot of people around with some similar attributes. Example: Anastasia - Daren's room. If you think it's a dumb idea, that's fine, it's just a thought and no one is obligated to use it. Feel free to do pretty much whatever you like in this thread.

Well, onto the introduction which will also be posted at the beginning of the IC thread:

The Knight Hotel was the very picture of victorian beauty in America. Standing three stories high, made out of brick and beautiful cedar wood, it was a very welcoming sight to travellers leaving New York City, or heading towards it. The gorgeous restruant that served some of the finest english breakfasts, american-style lunches, and french dinners could please even the staunchest of visitors. The rooms were large, the beds being equally so, and could be well lit by oil lamps that encompassed them. Presidents had even stayed here, from time to time, and left quite pleased, making sure to come again in the future.
However, recently, guests had heard very odd noises such as eerie howls...and sometimes even screams. Guests would be missing, but everyone would be too scared to inquire further. Bell boys would often be seen carrying large bags out of a room--bags that looked like they could have a person inside. The Knight Hotel's reputation preceeded itself however, and many people continued to arrive to stay at such a classy, fantastic, and beauitful hotel. But the strangeness surrounding it continued to grow....

Per our discussion

NAME: Osmond Harrison
GENDER: Male
COUNTRY: USA
SPECIES: Human (by the look of me)
HAIR: Brown
EYES: Brown
HEIGHT: 6'4"
STATUS: Guest of the management.

Hrmm.....heehee

This sounds intresting, and I have a not-so-powerful species that i could use.....hopefully, it's ok...i'm "Barrowing" a created species...

SPECIES: Gargoyle
SPECIAL POWERS: long life (they age at half the speed humans do), flight(to the extent of gliding off of the windcurrents), increased speed and strength. Also have catlike agility.
WEAKNESSES: Most of them sleep during the day in a form of stone, this leaves them compleatly vaunarable to attack from outsiders, they must depend on others to protect them during the day, or find a good hiding place (commanly called a "perch" or "Roost"). However, a few(Very few) have mastered magics that allow them to become human during the day, while human, these gargolyes are just as human as any other.....(To tell the difference, piss one off, if the eyes glow, it's a Gargolye in human form, if not, it's just your average joe)
NORMAL APPEARANCE: As humans, they look perfectly normal (by human standerds) except they seem a bit more foreboding in appearence..... When in stone sleep, they just appear as their "True appearance" but compleatly covered in stone, in fact, if you smash one (killing the gargoyle in the process) it turns out like you're smashing a statue made of stone.
TRUE APPEARANCE: They appear humanlike and are generally larger than humans, except they have large talons for feet, almost like walking on their toes, their hands also can tear through stone, allowing them to scale any wall, save for metal ones. They also have long, prehensil tails, these tails serve the normal purpose of keeping the Gargoyle's balance in the air and on the ground...said tails can also serve other purposes (I.E. Convienent weapon when disarmed, or needing a bit of middle-range distance from a foe) They also have large, useally batlike wings upon their backs, these wings allow the Gargoyle to glide off of windcurrents, however, wings being connected to the arms and/or legs in a web-like or bat-like fashion is not uncommen.

And how's that? If it's wrong, bad, or something, i'll probably be a vampire...or a succubus...*smirks*

Meep! i forgot my charactor!

]b]NAME[/b]: Majestic (no last name, or even clan name)
GENDER: Female (obviously)
COUNTRY: United States
SPECIES: Gargoyle
HAIR: Pure, jet black
EYES: a peircing purple...
HEIGHT: 5ft 4in
STATUS: She lives at the hotel semi-perminatly, she protects the place at night, and she's allowed to stay in her stone sleep on the roof (or bedroom, depending) during the day. Though she has been known to wander, she useally stays near the hotel.
General Apperence and other information (for refrances' sake): She looks more human than she actually is, she is pale white in color with wings to match..... She looks like any human female that is about the age of early 20s, when actually, she's twice that......she's smart, but she tends to stick to herself, thinking she's one of the last of her kind...and the fact that she's different and not always "accepted" by all of the guests....she's somewhat gothic in what she wears and how she acts....she even has her own room, even though she tends to sleep (in stoneform) on the roof.

This one sounds far too good to pass up! Mind if I play too?
The vampiress role appeals to me for various and sundry reasons, the foremost being that I have a passion for them. They are fiercely independant creatures yet are oddly romantic too, as am I...

Species: Vampire. But I have decided to help humans and so would deny my true origins. I feed from small animals as I would never hurt a human.

Special Abilities: My particular strain of vampire has evolved to be able to withstand sunlight so that we may move about the human world without fear of detection by any other except another of our species. Immortality. Able to shape-shift at will and when in true species form have super-human strength. The ability to move at extreme speeds so as to almost seem as though I can transport myself literally in seconds. I also have mind-reading capabilities, but only within my species and can hide my thoughts even from them, it's an ability that comes with age, also have super heightened senses, (ie.) hearing, smell, sight, etc., etc.

Weaknesses: When in true form, the proverbial wooden Stake through the heart, as well as silver bullets will kill me. Fire will kill me. Crosses will make me shy away, but have no real ability to hurt me, they just make me uncomfortable. Holy water will burn my skin like acid, but regenerative powers prevent any real damage. Garlic doesn't do a thing to me.

Normal Appearance: Human-like, but with extreme paleness, almost a transparency to my skin, but I can get away with it as it's the fashion of the day.

True Appearance: Extremely white skin, fangs, eyes that reflect light as is normal in an animal. They positively glow just after I've fed. Skin takes on a rosy tint at the same time, that fades between feedings.

Name: Rhiannon Petrova
Gender: Female
Country: American born but of Romanian descent
Species: Vampiress
Hair: Jet black w/white streak at crown, when released from confinment, hangs to back of knees.
Eyes: Ice blue
Height: 5'3"
Status: Guest at hotel. I'm wealthy beyond all reason and one of the owners is my cousin... I've come to see what the fuss is all about.

Well, ladies, both of those sound fine. The only thing I'm leary about is the telepathy. Please just use it in extreme moderation if you would. I see it as one of those powers that is very hard to cope with in RPG's such as this, but if it is necessary and helps the story...then it's good for me. :)

I especially like the gargoyle idea. I don't suppose someone on this forum would play Goliath? Just kidding (maybe Lexington). If you would like your perch to be on top of the Knight Hotel, that would be pretty cool, though your place of rest is completely at your discretion. I'm a firm believer in a free system of role-playing.

So ladies, please join the thread.

Heh

I used to watch that show, that's where I got the idea for Maj (short for Majestic) ^_^

~Jen~

Meep! And be it night or be it day?

~Jen...or in this case, Maj~

I have no problem with using moderation with the telepathy, it's more for show than anything as I'm trying to be as human-like as possible! I'll post to the thread in a bit, I have to go out but I'll be back!
Oh, and thanks!

Can I join? I got a character in mind already. Heres the info.

Species: He is human, but thats not all. Hes also a cleric. He only banishes evil. It dosn't matter if your a vampire, spectre, or whatever. As long as your not immensely evil then your on his cool list.

Special Abilities: Holy Might which increases his human strength by ten times. Holy Aura, which can keep really, really low level evil entities at bay, like imps, zombies, and very minor demons. Minor Heal, which can cure moderate wounds. He also wears tatoos of crosses around his neck, and wrists, making him virtually unbiteable. Hes also got crosses printed crosses his glove knuckles, and his boot bottom and top, making him dish out a bit more damage to undead and demonic creatures. And a big mace he carries in a case, not really a cleric without a mace is he?

Weaknesses: Although he sounds quite formidable, hes still human. He can get killed the way humans get killed. Hes kind hearted, and thats not a weakness at all. He dosn't mind vampires and demons at all... as long as they're not trying to kill people or trying to destroy the world or anything like that. Hes also quite clumsy. Not stupid, just a tad clumsy.

Normal Appearance: Usually wears a black brim hat, a black long black jacket, and a priest's collar. Wears his "special" gloves, and boots all the time. His specially designed mace is carried in a long case that he carries around with him.

True Appearance: Throws off his hat, revealing his short black hair, and his blue pupilless eyes. Yes, his eyes ARE blue, literally. Tosses aside his jacket which reveals his black t-shirt, nothing special about his shirt. Collar stays on. He takes his mace out of the case, and puts it in a holster on his back.

Name: Brother Sancti
Gender: Male
Country: Canada, in a underground Cathedral where he was raised and trained.
Species: Human
Occupation: Cleric
Hair: Short and black. Like Keanu Reeves short.
Eyes: No pupils. Completely blue eyes. Yet, he is not blind.
Height: 6'0"
Status: Kneeling at the feet of christ at a local church, and saying his daily prayers. He is about to leave.

Info: Hes... different from most clerics.

So, what do you think? Can I join?

Because is looks like there will be a number of us posting. How about this for a protocol.

When you're ready to write. Put in a post to say you're in progress. Then edit it. That way we won't cross post.

Let's all be careful not to step on each other's gigs......

Please join us, mighty cleric. Though, just a heads-up, most of the creatures around aren't exactly the cross-fearing type. Still makes for a hell of a look, though. I personally wouldn't have thought of it. Don't worry, however, I'm sure a demon or something will cross your path. :) Welcome aboard.

The thought of what time period this piece is in has come up, and while I initially desired a 19th century America, if the vote for a more modern time like say...now...would be better suited for everyone, then that is just as well.

I want current era. It's more in keeping with recent filmography and easier to eliminate anachronisms.

Nothing we've done so far contradicts either era. Except maybe my top hat comments.........

HI I´m new to all this,
so I hope my personality will be aproved but I´ll probably goof some more here and there cause I dont understand half of this. And I´m sorry for not noticing it was staged in the 1800s I hope this is better and if I make more misstakes please tell me.

Re: Creatures of the Knight
Name: Vicky Benfield
Gender: Female
Country: American
Species: Half vampire half unknown (mom thought it best not to tell me)
Hair: Medium long and light brown with an eggplant (purpelish) glow to it when in the right lighting usually worn lose or in an interesting bun
Eyes: Depend on the angle you look at them from they change from blue to grey to green
Height: 5'8
Status: Just checked in, I´m here because I was curious what it was like plus I heard the forrests surrounding it were very pretty...
Discription:I´m quite strong, stronger then my mother (who was a 100 procent vampire and wiccan [I picked up a few tricks[ she say´s I get that from my fathers side but I have no idea about who or what he was) I have a will of iron and am almost always in complete controle over myself, I refuse to show fear and only very seldom experience it, mostly stick to animal blood but when I´m with a lover I´ll take some of their blood but not enough for them to really notice it I also eat normal foods and drink normal fluids, I´m quite fond of having fun flirting nad seducing men (and sometimes women) and I love the thrill of hunting and being hunted at night... in the dark... Though I dont perticulairly like the sun it doesnt burn me it just tires me a little nor do crosses or any other of those myths work on me (again my fathers side acording to my mom)

As I walk into the hotel I look around and I see another one of my species a woman I wonder if she´s teritorial and will mind me being here? and there are two men who both have an interesting vibe around them sitting at a table drooling over the other vampire and I have to admire how she goes to work to have them drooling so fast...
Then I walk to the register and check in the young man that helps me seems quite nice though a little inexperienced, when he hands me the key he offers to carry my bag´s upstairs I´m about to say no but then realise again where I am and after taking the first steps away I quickly walk back hoping noone noticed and accept his offer and follow him up. Once I´m in the room I have a good look around and unpack, freshen up and I get dressed in a long flowing shiny black gown that´s slightly revealing and a necklace that fits tight around my neck and has a celtic cross with colord stones in it have one last glance in the mirror decide that I look ok and go down stairs to have a drink and see if I can get to know a bit more about the people I just saw...

Thanks for the invite Daren.

All he knew was that there was something very evil and bad that was going to happen. Something that was so bad, that it was evil. An evil beyond all the badness of evil. In fact, screw bad! Whatever was going to happen there, was going to be so very, very EVIL, that it was beyond evil. In fact, it was so bad and evil, that it deserved a new name... like ba-vil. Yes, thats the word. It was going to be very ba-vil.

Hey King! I am laughing my ass off. That was GREAT.

Room for anyone else?

I've been reading the thread and find it quite interesting! I would like to join in the posting if possible. Below is a char profile.

Name: Gabrielle Kenzie Dumontine
Gender: Female
Country: North America with French background.
Species: a dark sorceress/witch
Hair: black
Eyes: blue/violet colour
Height: 5' 8"
Special Powers: She has the ability to cast spells, to create lifelike illusions that would confuse most anyone. She also possess the ability to call upon the elements, other species, etc. for their assistance. She also has mental powers but the recipient has to be willing to communicate with her, she cannot force this gift upon them.
Weaknesses: She has an amazing low threshold for weakness in others, making many intolerable to her. Her mood swings have made her famous, they verge on calm to sheer insanity. She never forgets anything and loves revenge. It can be an all encompassing to her. She is also a very intense lover able to suck the soul out of her companion if they are not careful! She is not immortal though she has the ability to, she has choosen not to be.
Status: new guest to arrive at the hotel
General description:
Gabrielle is always dressed to perfection. She hates flaws, they drive her mad. She is a Louisiana socialite who is adored by those within her city. She comes from "old money". Very people know of her dark side, those that have found out, have also turned up "missing". She is quite conceited and snobbish as would be expected from her status within society. She is within her mid twenties and doesn't seem to age. Her family's background is riddled with rumours of witchcraft, socrcery, vampires, wtc..

I'd like to give it a try...

Stats:
Name: Jonathan Doe
Gender: Male
Country: USA
Species: Human, sort of (see powers) (Amer-Indian)
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 165
Weaknesses: He's human.
Powers: Total and complete regeneration from anything short of complete disintegration. Length of time varies by event, but for example, bullet wound to hand: 5 min, bullet wound to heart: 1 hour, bullet wound to head: 3 hours.
Status: New Guest at Hotel
Story Profession: Professional Victim

Description: Jonathan was born Runs As Doe hundreds of years ago in the middle of what is now called America. His mother was mentally unstable or "touched by the Gods" as the tribe said. Whatever the truth of that statement might have been, when Runs As Doe was born, there were complications in the birth and Hair Like Fire Rain died screaming curses to the tribe, her husband, and most importantly to Runs As Doe. The people who were present swore that they understood only half of the words she used. As the years passed and Runs As Doe grew into manhood, accidents began to occur to members of the tribe. Faster than they could breed, the tribe was slowly dying out. When he had seen the passing of twenty-five equinoxes, Runs As Doe and Jumping Hare were hunting for the tribe. A sudden storm came upon them and a bolt of lightening struck Doe, arced to Hare and then to their ponies nearby. Doe awoke some hours later, completely unscathed while near him the smell of burnt flesh was strong. He turned to see three smouldering piles of what used to be human and horse.
From that time forward, Doe never aged physically a day. The tribe soon was wiped out by his mother's lingering curse and Doe found himself wandering. Over time, he has trained in many forms of martial arts and has the accumulated knowledge of centuries to call upon, but for all that he is still human. Once many years ago, he came upon a werewolf. Thinking himself well-trained he stayed to fight it instead of running. Even now he is still proud that he managed to hit it twice. He was a week recovering from the wounds of the battle.
As the English populated the land, Runs As Doe renamed himself Jonathan Doe. To this day, he searches for somehow to lift the curse.

EDIT: Actually, my life just got busier, so it turns out I don't have time to join a new thread. If anyone wants to use this character idea, go for it, I thought it was an interesting addition to the rest of the cast. I'm sorry I can't join, but you wouldn't want me posting as rarely as I fear I might.

Would love to join in the fun, here's my thoughts on my (possible) character...

Name : Padraigh (Paddy) Ryan Molloy
Gender : Male
Country : USA, though originally from Ireland
Species : Human (though that most vile of creatures, a reporter)
Hair : Brown
Eyes : Brown
Height : 5'9"
Weight : 165
Age : 28
Marital Status : Married, but his beloved Cecilia has recently left him for another man.

Strengths/Weaknesses: N/A, purely a mortal doing his job

Bio : Paddy Molloy was just a wee lad when his parents emmigrated to NYC from the Emerald Isle. Much to his father's disapproval, Paddy took a job at the NY Tribune as a basic errand boy, rather than join the city's police force. Quickly establishing himself as a hard worker, Paddy quickly moved up the ladder, becoming the Tribune's star reporter. But, as hard a worker as Paddy was, he was even harder at hitting the sauce. Several missed deadlines and misreported stories later, we find Paddy where he is now, the one who gets sent out on the stories that are so ludicrous, they will never reach print. The stories of strange goings on at the Knight Hotel is just that type of story, in the minds of the Tribune's editors.

Edited: Oops, misread the ooc, guess I am able to join in seeing as how Paddy is merely human, so I will go ahead and post. If this is a no-no, I apologize, and feel free to kill him off quickly. But, please, kill him only if I shouldn't have posted

Not in the 1800's we dont!!!!!!
