Heya all, i would like to get a little feedback about this before starting a thread. I used to GM Call of Cthulhu RPG
(mostly set in the 1920s), and have a campaign book that ive been dying to run for years. Would something like this
be of interest to folks here? And would it stay active? I see a bunch of good storylines that seem to take off real well
the first few days, but peter off and die within a few days.

A little more info on the genre and the time.

Call of Cthulhu is a horror investigative game based on the works of HP Lovecraft. This game is fairly and relalistically brutal; bravely standing down the evil creature usually ends with death. Sometimes just finding out whats going on and surviving to tell the tale is a sucess.

This whole adventure starts in January of 1926. The roaring 20s and still going on, Capone in Chicago. No airlines; ocean voyages and train travel overland is the norm.

In theory, you could play any type of character, although ones with a scholarly or investigative background or interests are perfered.

Since i normally GM, but that doesnt really work here, my character will be more of a guide and helper than a actual participant.

Okay if you haven't guessed......I am in...ready to take on the Deep ones.

Guess ill give it another day or so to see who else wants to join in then ill get it started.

Star of Penumbra, if you want to put up your character, thatd be great.

Ideally 3 to 5 investigators ( players ) is the number to shoot for, but can make it work with less.

How often ( ballpark ) would folks post to the thread? Once a day, twice a day, every other day, etc?

Post as much as you like......can't always see when I reply. Every other day works for me I think. Like my character I take it?

Investigators drop like flies so always room for more...lol

Your character will work great. Ill post the introduction post later tonight.

Well, I can check the thread a couple times a day, and I can probably post every day too. Other than that, can't really say. I'll do some research and see if I can't get my character posted later today or tomorrow.

That'll be great..held off on posting the intro to see if youd post back Star, so when you get that info up ill get the start going.

The year is 1925. Both of you recieve a radiogram at home, from a ship at sea. The message is from Jackson Elias, a writer you consider a a good friend.

HAVE INFORMATION REGARDING CARLYLE EXPEDITION STOP NEED RELIABLE INVESTIGATIVE TEAM STOP ARRIVE JANUARY 15 STOP SIGNED JACKSON ELIAS

What you know about Jackson Elias.

Elias is 38, of medium height and build. He has a friendly, feisty air to him. He has no living relatives, and is perpetually on the move, with no permanent address. You like him, and value his friendship. You'd be upset, and probably crave vengance if anything ever happened to him. THe world is better for
having Elias in it.

His writings characterize and analyze death cults. His best known book is Sons of Death, exposing modern day Thuggees in India. All his books illustrate how cult manipulate the fears of their followers. A skeptic, he never found proof of supernatural powers, magic, or dark gods. His other books are named
Skulls along the River, Masters of the Black Arts, The Way of Terror, Witch Cults of England, and The Black Power. All these books are published by Prospero Press, of New York City, and all were edited by owner/editor Jonah Kensington. He is also a friend of Elias, and you know him as a acquaintance.

What you know offhand about the Carlyle Expedition

In 1919, an expedition, led by Roger Carlyle, a wealthy New York playboy, left New York bound for Southhampton. Comprised of renowned Egyptolist Sir Aubrey Penhew; Dr Robert Huston, a
Freudian psychologist; Miss Hypatia Masters, a photographer and hinted romantic involvement to Carlyle; and a Mr Jack Brady, a adventurous type as a assistant to Carlyle.

After spending time in England and in Egypt, the expedition made notice it was traveling to East Africa for a rest and safari. They arrived in Mombasa on July 24, 1919, and left for nairobi on August 3. No further contact was ever made with the party. In March of 1920, based on clues she had, Erica Carlyle, Roger's sister, traveled to Mombasa, bound for Nairobi. May 1920 brought the untimely news of the death of the Carlyle Expedition, blamed on Nandi tribesmen near Nairobi. Remains of two dozen expedition members and bearers were found by Kikuyu tribesmen, led by Erica Carlyle. 5 Nandi tribesmen were hung for the crime, steadfastly refusing to the end to reveal the locations of the graves of the white party leaders. Erica Carlyle returned to New York shortly afterward.

On the 15th of January, you recieve a call from your friend Elias. He sounds very cryptic and anxious, unlike his regular demeanor. He confirms to meet him at the Chelsea Hotel, Rooom 410, at 8 pm. He gives no other information, and hangs up quickly.

The start of the adventure has you arriving at the hotel near 8 pm, or waiting out front. How your two characters know of each other I leave to you.

Feel free to PM me if any questions arise.

Are we beginning here on this thread? And it is just two pcs for this adventure?

This thread is just starting, so if you want to jump in, jump on in. Post a character and help yourself. Note the character types and timelines in previous posts when creating him/her.
