Okay ladies and gentlemen, submitted for your perusal, we have a casting call going out for a case of international intrigue.

The year is 1906. The city is Paris, France. A rare, and precious, Indian artifact has been stolen from its resting place in London. As a favor for an old friend an Investigator is sent to follow a suspected culprit to Paris in order to discover the truth and recover the artifact. The suspect is an established Nobleman of London society who has recently become enamored of the Bohemian lifestyle centered in the salons of Paris. As the Investigator arrives in Paris he is confronted by the lifestyle of the dancehalls and parlors of contemporary France. In particular is the jewel in the crown of the extravagant nature of the Bohemians, the Singer. She is the courtesan of Paris, admired by all, known by few. The Investigator gets mired in the indulgence of the era while trying to scrutinize the Nobleman's activities that delve into all aspects of Bohemian living. It's a heady time of wanton sexual enterprizes that the Investigator must find his niche in while trying to solve the theft. In the midst of this adventure a murder interrupts the carefree attitudes of the community, throwing chaos into the pandemonium of the culture. Now fear and suspicion has everyone looking over their shoulders as the rumored auction of the artifact draws near. What role is the Nobleman really playing? Will the Investigator solve all the riddles? What role does the Singer play in all of this? Is everything as it seems? Or are there larger forces at work?

Sadly the role of the Investigator and the Singer have already been spoken for. However, we still need the Nobleman. We need a Patron/Matron of the Singer, who is the wealthy socialite that owns the parlor where the Singer performs and solicits customers for her bed. We need other Courtesans, other members of the Bohemian culture, secretive and mysterious buyers who have traveled to Paris from every corner of the world to bid on the artifact, a Parisian Detective trying to manage his city. The doors are open on possibilities. We're looking for a colorful, sexual romp with intrigue and danger thown in the mix. Just leave a post with a brief character overview and how you'd like to explore this story. Questions, comments, concerns can be directed towards myself or Maid of Marvels.

Just a bump....

We've already gotten a few volunteers, but there are plenty of oppurtunities still open.

Saw the thread and will be along shortly... ;)

For those who might be interested: La Belle Epoche.

Come play along... I'll post some info tonight or tomorrow on the era. Just think Moulin Rouge though this is set the year it was to be rebuilt. :)

Working on a post, I'll be along shortly.

(Hope I haven't forgotten how to write!!! )

I'd be interested in playing along as a potential buyer of the artefact - who might know a bit more about it's history than the veneer of the rich collector might initially indicate.

Just a note...

So... Here's what's up with us. Me, I was in the hospital for a few weeks, Longshanks is lounging somewhere on a tropical island being served drinks with umbrellas and fruit by scantily clad cabanagirlies, I have it on good authority (his) that chris2c4u has been kidnapped by a group of rabid Irish gerbils and Jenn followed my lead and got lost. (Sorry, Jenn). Gray, by the way, reputed to own a computer is sticking to the story that it's in the shop still. (He's gotta stop kicking that thing.)

Anyhow...

This thread is still open to players. Please contact either Longshanks or myself if you'd like to play, or if you'd like an idea for a character. It promises to be a lots of fun.

*nudge, nudge... wink, wink*

Although none of us are averse to writing with NPC characters, it would really be wonderful if some others joined us.

Since the PM thing doesn't seem to be a good venue, perhaps, if you have an interest or questions you can post here? I know the premise sounds rather vague, but we promise that it won't be that way once we've begun.

Come and play?

Since all previous entries seem to have been entered using personal messages I really don't know which parts are spoken for except for the singer and the investigator. If it's still open, however, I'd love to play the part of the nobleman. That is, if you'll have me. Let me know wichever way you feel suits you and I'll post the character ASAP.

Butch, you have a PM.

Diamantine, your authoress sounds delightful. During this time, Paris was full of writers and artists, many of whose work was quite unknown at the time but later became priceless. If you remember George Sand (born Amandine Dupin), you'll see that your character will fit perfectly into our setting, albeit a few years later.

I'm sure Longshanks will have some ideas for you as well by PM. Those cabanagirlies, dontcha know.

As he stated, Longshanks will be playing the investigator and I will take the part of the singer. Gray (who claims to be in possession of his computer again) is playing a noble and chris2c4u (recently freed by those rabid rodents) will be playing a potential buyer for the "artifact". Jenn is playing a courtesan. ;)

At any rate, this story will have some interesting characters and more than a few twists that only the twistees will be priviledge to. In the meantime, we await our faithful (if errant) leader. :D

Welcome to Le Belle Epoch!

If the role is still open I'd be interested in filling the role of the patron of the singer. I was thinking of something along the lines of a fairly foppish French society type. If that's good as gold, let me know and I'll post a bio.

Just thought I'd give a better physical description of my character in here.

Age: 26
Height: 5'10
Weight: 160lbs
Brown hair, cut short
green eyes

A slim build and a round, clean shaven face give him the look of a man five years younger. Always immaculately dressed and groomed.

Finally gotten around to posting. Here's a vague character description.

Charles
38 years old
medium built
finely trimmed mustache, dark brown
has an overprotective nature.

Uh, right, just thought I'd make a change to my character. Rather than 26 years of age, he's now in his early forties. His short brown hair is greying slightly at the temples. I'll go through my posts to edit them appropriately.

Jumping in

Josef Ivanovitch is tall, dark, handsome, well-bred, and a delightful conversationalist. Unfortunately he has a knack of getting into "trouble" (or more accurately, getting ladies, young and not so young, into trouble. This has made him the black sheep of his prominent Russian family, and they sent him to Paris under a false name to keep the scandals at a denyable distance.

His father has provided well for him, so Josef has no worries about money. This allows him to spend his days (well nights mostly) habituating the Paris scene. He is a good looking young man, in that slightly brooding Russian way, who starts his evenings impeccably dressed. He usually ends up in a rather less impressive state in a gutter or a bed, but God looks after fools and drunks, so Josef is doubley covered.

Just writing to check if something dramatic is going to happen at the establishment any time soon or if it's safe for me to take Jenn1982 to a nearby restaurant.

We really could use some players -- especially women. Anyone?

If you need help with character ideas, please feel free to PM or IM LongshanksSierra or me. :)
