It is only the RW that is responsible for the polarization and division in America now -- on account of which so many actually see the specter of civil war looming. The GOP has been moving further and further right since 1976 while the Dems have . . . not moved left. The Pubs have evolved into an ideological party while the Dems have remained a coalition of interest groups. Note that there is no Dem counterpart to Project 2025.

The Dems could have moved left -- the breakup of the Socialist Party of America in 1972 left a space there -- but instead they've decided to try to catch up with the GOP's rightward drift -- that's what the Democratic Leadership Council was all about.
And don't tell me about same-sex marriage, etc. No position on a non-economic culture-war issue can be leftist. Nothing is leftist unless it threatens the plutocracy. The Dems taking liberal positions on culture-war issues reduces politics to an ideological fight at the country club. They don't dare take any really leftist positions because that would frighten off the deep-pocket campaign donors.
