It seems, that this is the only place I've ever seen someone with a thread introducing themselves (mistakely), a post telling another "newbie" they'll never fit into the "cliques" here, and also a thread about why they are leaving Lit, all on the first page, and all within several hours time.

Oh, and about "Cliques", if I AM in one, or was in one, then someone should have told me. I hate being the last to know this shit.

Nah! The snow I can deal with, and actually like. It's the ice I hate. Especially after it was 65 over the weekend.

Come next week while many here are cold and freezing, I too should be laying on the beach.

Anyway, back to the thread! People come and go, some are missed & some aren't. There seem to be a lot who think they'll be missed more than those who actually are missed. How much of an impact can you, or DO YOU, expect to make in less than two months?

I arrived here unheralded, and fully expect to leave the same way. I don't burst upon the board on a daily basis with mind boggling, earth shattering posts or threads. I don't flirt a lot, and I don't get into life ending cyber brawls. I am part of the Lit wallpaper, and to tell the truth I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have made a few good friends here and really enjoy my time stuck to the walls here, but it's not my life. if I dropped out of Lit tomorrow I doubt there would be any broken hearts. this would apply to most of the newbies. Yeah I still class myself as a newbie even with 1200+ posts. Now if posters like yourself Lobito or KM, PC, Marxist Rubyfruit, et. al. were to depart, then Lit would be the poorer for it. Folks like me contribute to the background chatter... happily.

I'm almost speechless too. I know I miss a lot of folks when I don't see them posting after a few days. I'm always looking for other tubbers, and have honestly grown to like so many other "regular" posters. I'm sad when I don't find them around, and I'm gibbering on because your response so surprised me!

BTW, Kiwiwolf... you are another poster I enjoy reading, so you would be missed as well!

I don't personally feel I contribute much of anything that's too good or total shit, if I have something to say, I say it. Much like me, if people don't like everything, they don't have to respond to everyone or everything. While others live and die by controversy ALL the time.

I think people would like to think they'd be missed, but why have an I'm leaving thread, if you're never coming back, and don't intend to read it? Since we're still somewhat on the subject, the reason I don't welcome "newbies" anymore, is for two reasons. 1 - some of them aren't really newbies, they are just people who have another name to troll by, and will bite you in the ass. Or under another name, becasue they tarnished themselves as the "other person". And 2 - because we just don't know how long they intend to be here anyway.

I used to welcome everone, till I figured that stuff out. Now people don't have to ask me anymore why I don't do it. If someone I like is leaving, then I tell them what I said earlier, why announce it if you don't intend to ever come back, then I proceed to seemingly waste my time and say, I'll miss seeing you around here. Not positive that they're really leaving or not.

Hey thanks Jenny... what I was trying to say in my garbled post was that I'll never be an influential poster here. I tend to post to the lighter threads and steer clear of the more contentious political/ social condition threads. I used to play in those rooms but gave up when p_p_ man refused to debate me... None of this bothers me... infact it works out to my advantage. I'm on lit for a short time each day and already have masses of email and PM traffic... I shudder to think what folks like PC or Marxist would have to deal with...

I have been meaning to ask for a while... what's the deal with the "Hot tub"?

"Hot tub" refers to a room in LIT's chat area called "Syd's hot tub". I began with LIT there and met a great group of people who are now resident on these boards, so it's been an extension of the "group" we had formed months ago.

BTW... Wait and see how your email/pm traffic increases if you show your "ass"ets in an av!!
